• Launches eighth homer
Varsho went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a second run scored in Monday's win over the White Sox.

Advice: The 27-year-old outfielder crushed a Erick Fedde changeup over the right-field fence in the second inning for his eighth long ball of the season. Varsho is batting just .182 (10-for-55) in May, but half his hits have gone for extra bases (three doubles, two homers) and he's stayed productive with two steals, nine runs and nine RBI in 14 games. • Report: Ji-Hwan Bae to be called up Tuesday
Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports that the Pirates are recalling Ji-Hwan Bae from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Advice: Bae played well after being activated off the injured list and heading to Indianapolis with a .376 average and seven stolen bases to show for it. The 24-year-old can play all over the field and offers the ability to swipe bags with his speed, but isn’t likely to be a significant fantasy contributor in any other category. • Set to be recalled
Bae will be recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis prior to the Pirates' game against the Giants on Tuesday, Noah Hiles of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Advice: There's no word yet on what the corresponding roster move will be. Bae has slashed .367/.479/.551 with four home runs and seven stolen bases over 27 games with Indianapolis this season. The 24-year-old has played center field, second base and left field with Indianapolis and should bounce around to multiple positions in Pittsburgh. Rotowire.com Today, 6:37 am
  • Canzone leaves the yard Monday
Dominic Canzone went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and two RBI against the Yankees on Monday.

Advice: Canzone drew the start in right field as Mitch Haniger was the designated hitter and Mitch Garver got the night off. He provided all of the offense for the Mariners through eight innings on Monday with a solo home run off Marcus Stroman. It was Canzone’s fourth home run of the season. His playing time going forward depends on Garver’s availability.

  • Jacob Young plates two, steals base in victory
Jacob Young went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI and also stole a base on Monday in the Nationals’ lopsided win over the Twins.

Advice: Young has come out of nowhere to make an impact for fantasy managers in deeper mixed leagues with an astounding 15 stolen bases in just 129 plate appearances over 37 contests. The 24-year-old speedster doesn’t offer any over-the-fence pop, but the steals are enough to give him some relevance moving forward. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:46 pm
  • Winker hitting 3rd for Nationals on Monday
Jesse Winker is in the lineup and hitting third on Monday against the Twins.

Advice: Winker was shaken up after making a catch the other day, but he will not miss any time. Not only is he in the lineup, but he’s hitting third after mostly hitting seventh or eighth previously. Winker got off to a strong start to the year, but he’s struggled over the last month and is now hitting just .224/.339/.381 with five home runs and five steals. He’s hitting just .143 in 15 games in May and can be dropped in most fantasy leagues. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:32 pm
  • Out against left-hander
Kepler is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Nationals.

Advice: Kepler is one of several Twins players involved in a platoon, so he will yield to Manuel Margot in right field with the Nats starting left-hander Mitchell Parker. The left-handed hitting Kepler actually has a 1.050 OPS versus southpaws this season, although that's come over just 20 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:53 am
  • Has ankle injury
Steer is dealing with a sore ankle, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Steer was held out of the starting lineup Sunday as a result of the ankle but served as a pinch hitter. He walked for Will Benson with the bases loaded in the seventh inning and was removed for a pinch runner. Cincinnati manager David Bell said Steer should be back to 100 percent for Tuesday's series opener at home against the Padres. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:11 am

  • Swats solo homer
Winker went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Sunday's 11-5 loss to the Phillies.

Advice: Winker is in the midst of a lengthy slump, entering the game with one hit in his last 25 at-bats. His only hit during that stretch came in Saturday's game, which, combined with Sunday's homer, could mean brighter days ahead for the 30-year-old. Even with the cold spell, Winker is slashing .224/.339/.381 with five homers and five stolen bases. Rotowire.com Sunday, 8:53 pm
