    • Jose Trevino slugs three-run homer vs. Royals
Jose Trevino went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer against the Royals on Wednesday.

Advice: Trevino broke the game open in the first inning with a three-run blast off Daniel Lynch. He later added a base hit to lead off the sixth. The 31-year-old backstop is slashing a respectable .272/.321/.416 with six homers and 23 RBI across 138 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:03 pm
    • Bobby Witt Jr. collects three hits in loss Wednesday
Bobby Witt Jr. went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs scored, and two RBI against the Yankees on Wednesday.

Advice: Witt Jr. extended his hit streak to 13 games with a double in the sixth inning to drive in the first run of the game for the Royals. He then scored on a sacrifice fly by Salvador Perez. Witt Jr. drove in a second run with a single in the seventh before scoring on a bases loaded walk by Perez. The 23-year-old shortstop collected his third hit with an infield single in the ninth, ending his day slashing .326/.375/.563 with 11 homers, 58 runs scored, 50 RBI, and 19 steals across 307 plate appearances. • Cody Poteet earns win against Royals on Wednesday
Cody Poteet allowed two runs with two strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings in a win over the Royals on Wednesday.

Advice: Poteet kept the Royals scoreless over five frames before running into some trouble in the sixth. He gave up a leadoff single before Bobby Witt Jr. drove in a run on a double with one out. Poteet then issued a walk and that would be it. Ian Hamilton relieved Poteet on the mound and allowed one inherited runner to score. The 29-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 1.71 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, and a 13/7 K/BB ratio across 21 innings. He’s currently lined up for a start against the Orioles in New York on Tuesday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:01 pm
    • Mason Miller serves up walk-off homer to Padres
Mason Miller allowed one run in the ninth inning on Wednesday and was saddled with a loss against the Padres.

Advice: Miller was called upon in a tie ballgame and wound up surrendering a walk-off solo shot to Padres rookie Jackson Merrill. It was just his first loss of the year and second run he’s allowed in four relief appearances this month. The flame-throwing 25-year-old righty has been one of the best high-leverage relievers in baseball and this looks like just a momentary hiccup in an otherwise stellar breakthrough campaign. • Michael King strikes out 12 on Wednesday vs. A’s
Michael King struck out a season-high 12 and allowed two runs over five innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Athletics.

Advice: King turned in one of his best outings of the year, generating an eye-popping 19 swinging strikes -- including 15 combined on his changeup and sweeper combination — and finished with a near-elite 39 percent CSW. The 29-year-old righty has allowed three earned runs or fewer in seven of his last eight starts since May 4. He’ll bring a solid 3.58 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 95/34 K/BB ratio across 83 innings (15 appearances, 14 starts) into a challenging road matchup on Tuesday against the red-hot Phillies. • Hogan Harris whiffs five on Wednesday in no-decision
Hogan Harris allowed two runs over five innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Padres.

Advice: Harris was burned by the long ball in this one as solo homers by Donovan Solano and Jackson Merrill accounted for all of the damage against him. He struck out five and only issued one walk. The unheralded 27-year-old lefty has been pitching well of late, allowing three runs or fewer in three consecutive starts since May 30. He’ll carry a strong 2.49 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 23/9 K/BB ratio across 25 1/3 innings (five appearances, three starts) into a home outing on Tuesday against the Royals. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:21 pm
    • Austin Slater collects three hits, steals base in win
Austin Slater went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI and also stole a base on Wednesday, lifting the Giants to a 5-3 victory over the Astros.

Advice: A reliable lefty-mashing specialist, Slater got the job done as San Francisco’s top-of-the-order table-setter on Wednesday afternoon with a trio of hits off Astros southpaw Framber Valdez, including a two-run single in the fourth inning. He also picked up his second theft of the season in this one. The 31-year-old veteran is more of a reserve platoon specialist at this stage of his career, but he’s been solid for the Giants, when healthy. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:24 pm
    • Sitting out against lefty
Valdez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Valdez will exit the starting nine while the Phillies bring southpaw Cristopher Sanchez to the hill. The Red Sox will turn to the right-handed-hitting Jamie Westbrook to replace Valdez at the keystone. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:01 pm
    • Returning as DH on Wednesday
O'Neill (knee) will serve as Boston's designated hitter and No. 3 batter in Wednesday's game against the Phillies, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Advice: O'Neill hadn't played in any of the Red Sox's last three games due to right knee inflammation and looked to be at risk of a return to the 10-day injured list, but the 28-year-old was apparently able to show enough improvement over the last few days to avoid being deactivated again. Masataka Yoshida should settle in as the Red Sox's primary DH after returning from the IL on Tuesday, but he'll hit the bench Wednesday to facilitate O'Neill's return to the lineup. It's unclear when the Red Sox might be comfortable with having O'Neill make starts in the corner outfield. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:46 pm
