    • Absent from lineup
Nevin is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest in Houston.

Advice: Nevin's production has cratered in May (3-for-39) and with that his playing time has also slipped. He's now started just half of the Athletics' last 10 games, and the last time he was in the lineup versus a right-hander he was down in the No. 8 spot. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:30 pm
    • Angels activate Luis Rengifo for Friday return
Angels activated INF/OF Luis Rengifo from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: The Angels tried to keep Rengifo on the active roster, but after he missed five games, they decided to put him on the injured list last Thursday. A week later, he’s returning to the fold and should likely remain an everyday player for the Angels given how banged up their lineup is. Niko Goodrum was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake in a corresponding move. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:35 am

    • Activated from injured list
The Angels activated Rengifo (illness) from the 10-day injured list Thursday.

Advice: Rengifo missed the last week and a half with a viral illness which resulted in painful blisters on his feet. He's recovered now, though, and should be back in the lineup when the Angels return to action Friday in Texas against the Rangers. The super utility player is slashing .330/.378/.462 with two home runs and nine stolen bases over 28 contests this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:27 am

    • Rehab assignment on tap Friday
LeMahieu (foot) is in line to begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Somerset on Friday, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports.

Advice: LeMahieu has already joined Somerset, but he will first go through a full workout Thursday and, assuming that goes off without a hitch, will begin playing in games Friday. The veteran infielder had to have his initial rehab assignment last month halted after just one inning due to ongoing issues with his right foot, but he's now ready to try again. Since he's missed so much time, the expectation is that LeMahieu will probably need at least a handful of rehab games before rejoining the Yankees' active roster. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:18 am

    • Jose Miranda not in the lineup on Thursday
Jose Miranda is not in the Twins lineup on Thursday against the Yankees.

Advice: Willi Castro will shift from center field to third base and Manuel Margot will get the start in center and bat eighth in the order. Miranda had been playing regularly, but he’s now sat in two of the last four games as he’s gone 10-for-39 (.256) in 11 games in May with no home runs, six strikeouts, and two walks. He’s likely not losing his job, but he’s also not forcing his way into the lineup every day, and on a team that likes to platoon as much as the Twins do, that could be an issue. • Jon Berti starting at 3B for Yankees on Thursday
Jon Berti will start at 3B and bat eighth for the Yankees on Thursday against the Twins.

Advice: Berti has started four games at third base over the last week, with Oswaldo Cabrera starting two and playing second for another. Berti has gone 6-for-19 (.316) in six games since coming off the IL with two steals; however, Cabrera is 9-for-30 (.300) in 10 games in May with six strikeouts and two walks, so he’s certainly not giving the job up to Berti without a fight. The two are likely to rotate the vast majority of the games for the foreseeable future which hurts both of their fantasy upside. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:55 am

    • Steals third bag of season
Vargas went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Wednesday's loss to the White Sox.

Advice: Batting third against southpaw Garrett Crochet as Nats manager Dave Martinez desperately tried to spark his struggling offense, Vargas didn't make a big impact but was able to steal his third bag of the year, tying his career high. The 32-year-old utility player has been seeing semi-consistent starts in May, batting .294 (5-for-17) in nine games with three doubles, two runs and an RBI. He's already played 10-plus games at both second base and third base in 2024 while also seeing duty in left field (six games) and at shortstop (three games), giving him some fantasy value in deep NL-only formats. • Two hits in return to majors
Vientos went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI in Wednesday's loss to the Phillies.

Advice: Called back up form Triple-A Syracuse earlier in the day, Vientos got the start at third base against lefty Ranger Suarez and made an immediate impact, driving home Francisco Lindor with a first-inning double. Vientos' time in the majors could last a little longer this time after he was up for about a week in late April, but the 24-year-old could still see limited action and is expected to serve mainly as a short-side platoon option at the hot corner behind Brett Baty. Through 31 games at Triple-A this year, Vientos is slashing .284/.376/.500 with six homers and 30 RBI. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:14 am
    • Heading to bench Thursday
Cabrera is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Twins.

Advice: Cabrera has been the Yankees' preferred option at third base all season, but he's started to cede more work of late to Jon Berti, who will occupy the hot corner for the fourth time in six games Thursday. Given that he holds a 129-point advantage in OPS over Berti for the season, Cabrera should still be the favored option more often than not, but both will see their opportunities take a hit once DJ LeMahieu (foot) eventually returns from the injured list to make his 2024 debut.
