    • Mariners unsure when J.P. Crawford will return
J.P. Crawford (hand, oblique) didn’t travel with the Mariners for Friday’s series opener against the Orioles.

Advice: Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times adds that the Mariners aren’t certain when Crawford will return as he’s dealing with soreness and swelling in his right hand after being hit by a pitch during Wednesday’s rehab contest for Triple-A Tacoma. The 29-year-old shortstop will presumably undergo additional testing and imaging to determine the extent of the injury. There should be an update on his status at some point in the next few days. • Timeline to return unclear
Crawford (oblique/hand) didn't travel with the team to Baltimore, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Advice: Crawford was hit by a pitch in the hand during a minor-league rehab assignment Wednesday and was still sore and swollen one day later. He doesn't have a clear timeline to return, and he managed only six plate appearances with Triple-A Tacoma prior to the new injury. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:06 pm
    • Jackson Holliday homers Thursday at Triple-A
Orioles 2B/SS prospect Jackson Holliday went 2-for-5 with a solo homer and two RBI on Thursday for Triple-A Norfolk.

Advice: Holliday has made some subtle tweaks to his batting stance since returning to the minors and is batting .240/.424/.420 with two homers and two steals in 14 contests since the start of May for Triple-A Norfolk. More impressively, he’s drawn 16 walks and only struck out 15 times during that span. The precocious 20-year-old top prospect is going to get another chance in the majors at some point, but it doesn’t sound like the Orioles are going to rush him back. It’s extremely encouraging that he’s making adjustments and showing improvement right now. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:56 pm
    • Goes through another workout
Turner (hamstring) went through a workout at Citizens Bank Park for the second straight day Thursday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Turner went through agility drills and took grounders on the field and also hit in the indoor batting cage. While the Phillies are not ready to say the shortstop is progressing from his left hamstring strain ahead of schedule, it sure seems like he might be. Turner is less than two weeks into a projected six-week recovery timetable. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:55 pm

    • Remains out Thursday
Hoerner (hamstring) isn't in the Cubs' lineup for Thursday's game against the Pirates.

Advice: Hoerner was scratched from the lineup before Tuesday's game versus Atlanta due to tightness in his left hamstring, and it will now keep him from starting for the third game in a row. Nick Madrigal will cover second base Thursday while Miles Mastrobuoni starts at shortstop. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:42 pm

    • Nico Hoerner (hamstring) out Thursday vs. Pirates
Nico Hoerner (hamstring) remains absent from the lineup for Thursday’s series opener against the Pirates.

Advice: Hoerner will miss his third consecutive contest due to left hamstring tightness, but there’s been zero indication that he’s in jeopardy of requiring a trip to the injured list. There should be some clarity on his status at some point in the coming days, but fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:40 pm

    • Trea Turner (hamstring) progressing rapidly
Trea Turner (hamstring) went through agility drills on Thursday at Citizens Bank Park.

Advice: Turner has goen through a full workout, which also includes hitting and fielding grounders, on back-to-back days, which is notable since he’s just under two weeks removed from suffering a left hamstring strain. The 30-year-old shortstop was originally expected to miss six weeks, but it sounds like he’s going to beat that original estimate by a considerable margin, which is good news for the Phillies and fantasy managers. • Anthony Volpe homers, steals base in victory
Anthony Volpe went 2-for-5 with a leadoff homer and also stole a base on Thursday, leading the Yankees to a 5-0 victory over the Twins.

Advice: Volpe kicked off the contest with a leadoff homer against Twins starter Joe Ryan for his sixth round-tripper of the year. He also picked up his ninth stolen base of the season a couple frames later. The 23-year-old’s power output was a bit diminished at the outset of the year following offseason changes to flatten his swing and implement an all-fields approach, but he’s started to drive the ball a bit more of late with three homers in his last nine contests. • Angels activate Luis Rengifo for Friday return
Angels activated INF/OF Luis Rengifo from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: The Angels tried to keep Rengifo on the active roster, but after he missed five games, they decided to put him on the injured list last Thursday. A week later, he’s returning to the fold and should likely remain an everyday player for the Angels given how banged up their lineup is. Niko Goodrum was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake in a corresponding move. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:35 am
