    • Departs 40-man roster
The Rockies transferred Gilbreath (elbow/shoulder) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

Advice: Gilbreath had seemed close to completing the long road back from Tommy John surgery, but now he's developed a shoulder issue. It's not clear how long he might be out, but he won't be eligible to return until late May. Rotowire.com 2 minutes ago
    • Moves to injured list
The Rockies placed Jones on the 10-day injured list Tuesday, retroactive to April 29, with a low-back strain.

Advice: The 25-year-old was removed from Sunday's game against the Astros after his back injury flared up, and he'll be sidelined for at least the next week and a half after being diagnosed with a strain. Prospect Jordan Beck was promoted in a corresponding move and should see most of the reps in left field while Jones is sidelined. Rotowire.com 6 minutes ago

    • Rockies transfer Lucas Gilbreath to 60-day IL
Rockies transferred LHP Lucas Gilbreath to the 60-day injured list with a left elbow injury.

Advice: Gilbreath was placed on the injured list prior to the regular season and will need more time to get back to full strength. He could return at some point during the middle of the season, but as of now, it doesn’t look like the Rockies are rushing him back anytime soon. Rotoworld 7 minutes ago
    • Rockies place Nolan Jones (back) on 10-day IL
Rockies placed Nolan Jones on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to April 29, with a low back strain.

Advice: Jones was removed from last Sunday’s game due to back tightness and now will head to the injured list for at least a week or two. The 25-year-old is slashing .170/.243/.277 through his first 26 games this season, which is definitely a disappointment for fantasy managers that drafted him expecting more of the same in 2023, but he’s hit somewhat of a sophomore slump. • Draws opener assignment
Sanchez is slated to serve as the Marlins' opening pitcher for Tuesday's game against the Rockies in Miami, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Sanchez will be making his second straight appearance as an opener after working a season-high 2.2 innings while allowing three earned runs on five hits and one walk in a no-decision against Atlanta last Wednesday. He draws a less challenging assignment Tuesday, but Sanchez is still unlikely to be called upon to cover more than three or four innings before he turns the game over to the bullpen. The Marlins don't have an obvious candidate in their bullpen to piggyback Sanchez, making it difficult to target any Miami pitcher as a streaming option for Tuesday. Rotowire.com 18 minutes ago

    • Duran returns from IL
Jax will likely shift into a setup role since the Twins reinstated Jhoan Duran (oblique) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday.

Advice: Jax pitched well as the fill-in closer to begin the season with four saves, a 2.25 ERA and 17:4 K:BB across 12 innings, but it appears his time in the role is now up. The right-hander should still see plenty of high-leverage opportunities in as a setup man, but his fantasy utility will likely be minimal while Duran is healthy. Rotowire.com 24 minutes ago
    • Exits 40-man roster
Bowman was designated for assignment by the Twins on Tuesday.

Advice: Bowman loses his spot on the 26-man and 40-man rosters with the Twins needing to clear space for the return of Jhoan Duran. He pitched well in yielding just two runs with a 6:4 K:BB over 7.2 innings. The 32-year-old sinkerballer will now go through the waiver process. Rotowire.com 35 minutes ago
    • Twins designate Matt Bowman for assignment
Twins designated RHP Matt Bowman for assignment.

Advice: The 32-year-old right-hander will hit waivers with the Twins activating Jhoan Duran from the injured list. Bowman made five appearances across 11 days and posted a solid 2.35 ERA and six strikeouts across 7 2/3 innings of work. It would be shocking if a team didn’t take a chance on the journeyman. • Reinstated Tuesday, as expected
The Twins activated Duran (oblique) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday.

Advice: Minnesota will finally have their closer healthy and available after Duran missed the first month of the season due to an oblique strain. The right-hander labored a bit during his first rehab outing, but he looked like himself during his second and final appearance Saturday as he averaged 101.8 mph with his fastball. Manager Rocco Baldelli hasn't officially indicated whether or not Duran will immediately slot back in as the Twins' closer, but he seems likely to get ninth-inning chances sooner than later.
