• Max Kepler homers, delivers walk-off win on Friday
Max Kepler went 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBI on Friday night, propelling the Twins to a walk-off 6-5 victory over the Athletics in 10 innings.

Advice: Kepler broke out of his recent funk in a major way in the sixth inning on Friday, crushing a game-tying 426-foot (105.6 mph EV) three-run shot off of Mitch Spence that evened things up at 4-4. He then came through with a walk-off RBI single off of Scott Alexander in the 10th inning that sent the Twins’ home faithful into a frenzy. With his three-hit effort, the 31-year-old outfielder is now slashing .263/.326/.433 with five homers and 27 RBI on the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:45 pm

  • Exits with illness
Caballero was removed from Friday's game against Atlanta due to an illness, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Advice: Richie Palacios replaced Caballero at second base during the third inning. The 27-year-old infielder is slashing .241/.333/.483 across 33 plate appearances since the beginning of June and will continue to rest as he fights off his sickness. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:28 pm

  • Jose Caballero leaves game with illness Friday
Jose Caballero was removed from Friday’s battle against the Braves in the fourth inning due to illness.

Advice: Most observers raised an eyebrow when Caballero was replaced by Richie Palacios in the ballgame, but it turns out he was simply feeling a bit under the weather. He’s considered day-to-day and should return to the Rays’ lineup at some point before the weekend is through. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:24 pm

  • Could return Saturday
Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Friday that it's a "possibility" Marsh (hamstring) will be activated from the 10-day injured list Saturday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Marsh will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Reading on Friday, and it sounds like that could be the only rehab game he needs. The outfielder has been sidelined since early June with a strained right hamstring. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:51 pm
  • Brandon Marsh (hamstring) could return on Saturday
Phillies’ manager Rob Thomson told reporters on Friday that there’s a chance Brandon Marsh (hamstring) could return on Saturday.

Advice: They’ll wait and see how he feels after Friday’s minor league rehab game at Double-A Reading, but it sounds like his return is imminent. Marsh has been sidelined since early June due to a right hamstring strain. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:46 pm
  • Idle again Friday
Kiermaier (knee) is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Guardians.

Advice: Kiermaier will be held out of the starting lineup for a second consecutive game after sustaining a bruised knee Tuesday. However, with a left-handed pitcher on the mound for Cleveland, it's unlikely that the lefty-hitting center fielder would've been in the lineup even if fully healthy. Davis Schneider, Daulton Varsho and George Springer will fill the outfield from left to right Friday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:17 pm

  • Taylor Walls excluded from Thursday’s lineup
Taylor Walls is taking a seat against a left-hander Thursday against the Cubs.

Advice: Walls has actually hit lefties better than righties in his career, though he’s still awfully weak against both. Walls had started five of six games since coming off the injured list. The Rays went 1-4 in those games, with the lone win coming Tuesday after Walls was replaced in the seventh and the team rallied for all five of its runs. The Rays have scored a total of eight runs in the 42 innings in which Walls has played. Rotoworld Thursday, 12:58 pm

  • Could start rehab games Tuesday
Contreras (forearm) is hoping to begin a rehab assignment around June 18, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Advice: Contreras is just five weeks into a projected 10-week timetable following surgery to repair a fractured left forearm, but Goold writes that the catcher is "eager to push the timetable for his return." He took batting practice in the cage Thursday and has been catching bullpen sessions without issue. If Contreras is indeed able to start a rehab assignment by Tuesday, he could be just a week or so away from activation. Rotowire.com Thursday, 11:26 am

  • Taking full BP in cage
Contreras (forearm) will take full batting practice in the indoor batting cage Thursday, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Contreras is barely more than a month removed from surgery to repair a fractured left forearm. He was given a 10-week timetable to return following the operation but would appear to be ahead of schedule, given that he's already taking batting practice. Before being activated from the injured list, Contreras will surely need to head out on a minor-league rehab assignment, but it's uncertain when he might be cleared to join one of the Cardinals' affiliates for game action.
