    • Steps in at third
Espinal started at third base and went 1-for-3 in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Espinal was a late addition to the lineup after Jeimer Candelario (neck) was scratched. The utility infielder is getting a relevant amount of plate appearances due to injuries and a player suspension. While his .195 average isn't attractive, Espinal has hit with regularity of late, going 9-for-33 (.273) with a double, a home run, three RBI, four walks, two steals and four runs scored over the last 11 games. • Burger has three-hit game in loss Saturday
Jake Burger went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored against the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

Advice: Burger hit .250 with 34 home runs last year. With the three hits on Saturday, his average is up to a paltry .194 on the season. While Burger doesn’t have a track record outside of last season, his career BABIP is .282 and his BABIP this year is much lower at .217. Burger is even striking out at a much lower rate this year with a 22 percent strikeout percentage compared to his career 28 percent strikeout percentage. His batting average should normalize eventually, which makes him a decent buy-low candidate. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:13 pm

    • Selected from Triple-A
The Yankees selected Smith's contract from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.

Advice: Smith spent time with the Yankees for a short stint in mid-April, though he never registered a plate appearance while in New York. He has slashed .204/.270/.286 across 111 plate appearances in the minors this season, and his time with the Yankees will likely be short-lived again due to DJ LeMahieu (foot) trending toward a return during the upcoming series against the Angels. • Hits injured list with calf strain
The Yankees placed Berti on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a left calf strain.

Advice: Berti was in visible pain after falling to the ground as he began to run toward first base during Friday's game, and it will officially cost him at least 10 days as he heads to the injured list. The trainers appeared to be working near Berti's Achilles' tendon while he was on the ground, though imaging showed he only suffered a calf strain as a result of the incident. Kevin Smith will come up from Triple-A to take Berti's roster spot. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:35 pm

    • Swipes third bag
Kiner-Falefa went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, a run scored and a stolen base in Saturday's 2-1 loss to the Tigers.

Advice: Getting the start at second base and batting seventh, Kiner-Falefa was the only Blue Jay to record multiple hits on an afternoon when offense was at a premium. The 29-year-old utility player has seven hits in the last four games, but that comes on the heels of an 0-for-20 swoon. On the season, Kiner-Falefa is slashing .264/.305/.382 with three homers, three steals, 13 RBI and 14 runs in 50 contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:26 pm

    • Yankees promote Kevin Smith from Triple-A
Yankees selected the contract of INF Kevin Smith from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Advice: With Jon Berti (calf) heading to the injured list, Smith will provide infield depth for the Bombers for at least the remainder of the weekend until DJ LeMahieu is ready to return from the injured list. Smith, 27, has hit just .173/.215/.301 with eight homers and 25 RBI over 333 plate appearances in his career at the big league level. He can continue to be ignored for fantasy purposes. • Yankees place Jon Berti (calf) on 10-day IL
Yankees placed INF Jon Berti on the 10-day injured list with a left calf strain.

Advice: This move had been expected after Berti suffered the injury during Friday night’s battle against the Padres. Kevin Smith was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in a corresponding move to hold down the fort until DJ LeMahieu is ready to return in a couple of days. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:11 pm

    • Dealt to Mets
The Red Sox traded Reyes to the Mets on Saturday in exchange for cash, Katie Morrison-O'Day of The Springfield Republican reports.

Advice: Reyes was sent outright to Triple-A Worcester earlier in May, and he will now head to New York to give the Mets additional organizational depth in the infield. The 30-year-old has played in five games at Triple-A, going 6-for-13 with a home run, four RBI and four runs scored. He will likely report to Triple-A Syracuse. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:07 pm

    • Getting breather Saturday
Davis is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Astros.

Advice: He will begin Saturday's game on the bench after four consecutive starts. Davis recorded a hit in each of those four games, going 7-for-16 with two home runs and three RBI over that span. Brent Rooker will serve as the designated hitter Saturday while Tyler Soderstrom starts at first base against right-hander Spencer Arrighetti. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:58 am
