      Advice: Kikuchi got roughed up in this one, surrendering four extra-base hits including a solo home run to Spencer Torkelson. The five earned runs are a season high for Kikuchi, who entered this game on a four-game streak allowing two runs or fewer. The 32-year-old still sports a solid 3.25 ERA after Sunday's outing, but more regression could be coming if his 0.74 HR/9 normalizes to his career average of 1.56.       Buehler (1-2) took the loss to the Reds on Saturday, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk while striking out four over 5.2 innings.

      Advice: Buehler didn't have his best stuff in this one, as evidenced by the fact that he induced only six swings and misses on 91 pitches and also served up a pair of solo homers. It was a step backward from his previous outing, but this was just his third start back from Tommy John surgery, and ups and downs are to be expected after the long layoff.       Pivetta (2-3) took a loss Saturday against the Brewers, yielding five runs on seven hits and three walks over just 3.1 innings. He notched three strikeouts.

      Advice: Pivetta struck out two in a 1-2-3 first inning, but it was a struggle after that. He managed to escape a bases-loaded situation in the second inning, but in the third the Brewers had six straight runners reach base (five via hits) with two outs and scored five runs. Pivetta has now had two great outings but also two duds since coming back from the injured list.     • Walker Buehler gives up three runs in loss to Reds
      Walker Buehler suffered his second defeat of the season on Saturday, allowing three runs on six hits over 5 2/3 innings against the Reds in Cincinnati.

      Advice: Buehler punched out four batters on the night while issuing one base on balls. His trouble in this one stemmed from his inability to keep the ball in the yard, as Spencer Steer slugged a solo homer in the first inning and Will Benson blasted another in the second. The 29-year-old hurler got six swings and misses on 91 pitches on the evening — three of those on his fastball — while posting a CSW of 27 percent.       Keller (6-3) picked up the victory Saturday against Atlanta, allowing just one run on six hits over 6.2 innings. He registered four strikeouts.

      Advice: Keller was efficient, needing only 88 pitches to complete his 6.2 frames. Although the right-hander struck out just four, he had a solid 15 whiffs on his 88 offerings. Keller entered May with a 5.18 ERA and no wins in his last three starts. In four outings this month, he's 4-0 with a 1.30 ERA, although the strikeouts haven't been there with only 19 in 33.1 innings.     • Rehab start could come next week
      Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Saturday that there's a chance Cole (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment as soon as the upcoming week, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

      Advice: Cole threw a live batting practice session Saturday without issue, marking the second time he's faced hitters since he resumed a throwing program. According to Erik Boland of Newsday, Cole utilized all of his pitches in the simulated game and reached 95 miles per hour on his fastball, a velocity limit the Yankees had imposed on him prior to the throwing session as a matter of precaution. Cole could be asked to throw another live BP, but beginning a rehab assignment also appears to be on the table. Cole will need multiple rehab starts before returning from the injured list and joining the Yankees rotation, so he's still a few weeks away from making his 2024 debut with the big club.       Advice: Keller, 28, scattered six hits with four strikeouts against no free passes. The right-hander allowed an RBI single to Jarred Kelenic, but that was it in terms of scoring plays while he was on the bump.       Nick Pivetta surrendered five runs while working 3 1/3 innings in a loss Saturday to the Brewers.

      Advice: Pivetta was outstanding while allowing just one hit and one run against the Cardinals on Sunday. He didn’t match that success Saturday. The right-hander allowed seven hits, and he also issued three walks in a start where Pivetta was fine over the first two frames, but gave up five in a disastrous third inning.       Advice: The emergence of dynamic righty Luis Gil has lessened the urgency for New York to rush Cole back in their starting rotation mix. The 33-year-old righty hasn’t ruled out a potential June return, but he’s going to need to progress to at least a handful of minor league rehab starts to build up his pitch count and stamina before that happens.
