    • Rutschman knocks in three Thursday
Adley Rutschman went 2-for-5 with 3 RBI against the White Sox on Thursday.

Advice: Rutschman had an RBI single in the third inning to tie the game and a two-run single in the sixth inning to put the Orioles up 7-2. He’s putting together another nice season with a .299 average and 31 RBI on the year.

    • Fares well in start
Brown allowed one hit and two walks while striking out six over four scoreless innings in a no-decision versus Atlanta on Thursday.

Advice: Brown did a fine job, throwing 42 of 66 pitches for strikes while working on three days' rest. He's started five of his 12 appearances this season and now has a 3.20 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 45:15 K:BB over 39.1 innings. Kyle Hendricks' struggles opened up this chance for Brown to start, but he could find himself back in the bullpen once Jordan Wicks (forearm) is cleared to return. In any case, Brown appears to be near the top of the list for the Cubs whenever they have an opening in the rotation to fill. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:44 pm

    • Collects 14th save
Suarez walked one and struck out one in a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the save in Thursday's 6-4 extra-inning win over the Reds.

Advice: Suarez had no trouble locking down the save in the 10th inning after the Padres pulled ahead. The right-hander has still allowed just one run all season, and that was March 28 versus the Giants. His scoreless streak is at 20 innings, and he has a 0.40 ERA, 0.67 WHIP and 21:5 K:BB over 22.1 innings with 14 saves and one hold on the year as one of baseball's top closers. • Ben Brown tosses four scoreless frames vs. Braves
Ben Brown tossed four shutout innings on Thursday in a no-decision against the Braves.

Advice: Brown took the ball on Thursday afternoon at Wrigley Field for a spot start in place of veteran Kyle Hendricks and finished with six strikeouts over four scoreless frames. The 24-year-old righty allowed just one hit and a pair of walks as he induced 10 swinging strikes, with nine of them coming on his curveball, and finished with a pedestrian 27 percent CSW. He’s pitched extremely well this season with a 3.20 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 45/15 K/BB ratio across 39 1/3 innings (12 appearances, five starts). He’ll presumably take the ball on Tuesday against the division-rival Brewers and is worthy of a speculative roster spot in deeper mixed leagues. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:40 pm

    • Robert Suarez nails down 14th save against Reds
Robert Suarez fired a scoreless 10th to pick up a save against the Reds on Thursday.

Advice: That’s already the 14th save of the season for Suarez; putting him at right around a 40-save pace at this stage of the season. The right-hander hasn’t just helped in that category, as the scoreless 10th puts his ERA at a sparkling 0.40 for the 2024 campaign. There were question marks about Suarez being a stopper for the Padres coming into the season. Over the first 50-plus games, that question has been answered rather emphatically. • Nick Castellanos homers as Phillies top Rangers
Nick Castellanos went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in a 5-2 win for the Phillies on Thursday over the Rangers.

Advice: Castellanos extended the Phillies’ lead to 5-2 with a solo blast in the seventh inning. The veteran outfielder has been able to provide five homers thus far in 2024, and the pair of hits see his average increase to a still-disappointing .206 mark. Castellanos is a good bet to be (much) better over the final two-thirds of the 2024 campaign. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:20 pm
    • Bryan Reynolds has three hits, homer in defeat
Bryan Reynolds went 3-for-5 with a homer in a loss Thursday to the Giants.

Advice: Reynolds hit one of three homers for the Pirates on Thursday. The 29-year-old also singled twice to push his average to .260 with a .772 OPS. Reynolds should continue to see those numbers climb as we get deeper into the season based on his track record. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:55 pm

    • Launches fourth home run
Correa went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Nationals.

Advice: Correa extended Minnesota's lead to 2-0 with two outs in the sixth inning with a solo shot off Jake Irvin, his fourth of the year and second in three days. The 29-year-old Correa has a hit in five straight games, going 5-for-17 with a 1.133 OPS in that span. He's now slashing .268/.362/.455 on the season with 13 RBI and 18 runs scored through 130 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:40 am

    • Drawing start Thursday
Cubs manager Craig Counsell said that Brown will start Thursday's game against Atlanta at Wrigley Field, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Brown will pick up his fifth start of the season, filling the spot in the rotation that belonged to Kyle Hendricks before the veteran right-hander was moved to the bullpen earlier this week. Because he hasn't started since May 2 and will be pitching on three days' rest after covering two frames in relief Sunday, Brown may not be asked to give the Cubs more than three or four innings as he re-enters the rotation. Hendricks hasn't been used since his last start Friday and could be called upon to piggyback Brown, but Counsell hasn't outlined his plans for when Brown exits the contest. Brown may not be in line for a lengthy stay in the rotation, as the Cubs could get Jordan Wicks (forearm) back from the injured list next week to take over as their No. 5 starter.
