• Promoted to big leagues
The Rockies recalled Jones from Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday.

Advice: Following injuries to Kris Bryant (ribs) and Sean Bouchard (foot), Jones will join the Rockies to add depth to a suddenly-thin Colorado outfield unit. The 26-year-old has slashed .240/.360/.387 with four RBI in 89 plate appearances with Albuquerque while also stealing 15 bases in 20 games. He'll be making his MLB debut whenever he gets into a game. • Rockies call up Greg Jones for MLB debut
Rockies recalled INF/OF Greg Jones from Triple-A Albuquerque.

Advice: Jones was acquired this spring from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for LHP Joe Rock. The 26-year-old remains a speed-first player with a .240/.360/.387 in 20 games at Triple-A this season with 15 steals. He is sporting a career-high 12.4 percent walk rate, which would be a positive development given his wheels. It remains unclear how much he’ll play in Colorado, and he doesn’t offer much other than stolen base upside. Jones is taking Sean Bouchard’s spot on the active roster, and when he gets into a game, it will be his MLB debut. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:13 pm

  • Expected to be called up
The Rockies are expected to call up Jones from Triple-A Albuquerque prior to Thursday's game in St. Louis, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Jones, 26, would be making his major-league debut if he gets into a game. He missed some time with Albuquerque this season due to injury but when healthy has slashed .240/.360/.387 with two home runs and 15 stolen bases over 20 games. While Jones also has experience at shortstop, he'll have a better shot at playing time in the Rockies' outfield. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:27 am

  • Swinging hot bat at Vegas
Allen owns a .420 average and 1.055 OPS over 80 plate appearances in 17 games with Triple-A Las Vegas since being optioned May 3.

Advice: Allen has eight extra-base hits (six doubles, one triple, one home run), 12 RBI, eight walks, two steals, a hit-by-pitch and 16 runs, making it an all-around dominant showing for the previously struggling shortstop. Allen has also upped his walk rate from a 6.5 percent figure he'd mustered during his time with the Athletics to 10.0 percent, while his strikeout rate has seen a welcome reduction from 24.7 percent to a modest 15.0 percent. Nevertheless, the A's already saw this type of drastic dichotomy from Allen last season, when he thrived in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League but produced strikingly different numbers at the major-league level. With Max Schuemann putting together a solid showing (.261 average, .709 OPS) at shortstop with the big-league club, Allen doesn't appear to have a viable path for a return to the Athletics for the time being. • Plays catch Thursday
Mateo (concussion) played catch on the field at Rogers Centre in Toronto on Thursday, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Advice: Mateo was placed on the 7-day concussion injured list Monday after his teammate, Cedric Mullins, inadvertently hit him with the bat in the back of the helmet while in the on-deck circle. It's not clear yet whether Mateo will have a chance to return when first eligible June 10, but him being able to travel with the team and take part in some baseball activities is a encouraging sign. • Tyler Freeman gets a day off on Thursday
Tyler Freeman is not in the Guardians’ lineup on Thursday against the Royals.

Advice: It’s just a routine day off for the 25-year-old who continues to start regularly in center field for the Guardians. Freeman has moved back down in the lineup with both Stevan Kwan and Andres Gimenez back, which will hurt his counting stats, but he does have five home runs and eight steals on the year, so he remains valuable in deeper formats. • Getting Thursday off
Freeman is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Royals.

Advice: Freeman had been in line to receive Wednesday's game off before that contest was postponed due to inclement weather, but he'll see his streak of 20 consecutive starts come to an official end Thursday. Though he's moved out of the leadoff spot since the Guardians brought back Steven Kwan from the injured list Friday, Freeman has continued to thrive with four hits -- including a game-winning home run Tuesday -- and a stolen base over his last four starts. Utility man Daniel Schneemann will get the nod in center field Thursday in Freeman's stead. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:23 am

  • Helps fill in for injured mate
Duran entered as a pinch runner for Corey Seager (hamstring) and went 1-for-3 with a run scored in Thursday's 9-1 win over Detroit. He was also picked off/caught stealing.

Advice: Duran remained in the game to play third base while Josh Smith, the primary third baseman while Josh Jung (wrist) is unavailable, moved to shortstop to cover Seager's spot in the field. Texas manager Bruce Bochy downplayed the injury when speaking to Kennedi Landry of MLB.com following the game. If the injury lingers, the combination of Smith and Duran should handle the left side of the infield. The Rangers are off Thursday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:51 am

  • Plays seven innings in field
Perdomo (knee) started at shortstop and went 1-for-3 with an RBI in a rehab game with Triple-A Reno on Wednesday.

Advice: Perdomo's rehab moved from the rookie-level Arizona Complex League to Reno on Wednesday, and the shortstop played seven innings in the field. Per Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com, the Diamondbacks aren't targeting a specific number of games or at-bats for Perdomo; instead, his return date depends on how he feels. Arizona manager Torey Lovullo confirmed Perdomo won't be activated from the 10-day injured list during the upcoming four-game series against the Padres that begin Thursday, but a return next week could be in the cards.
