    • Dodgers promote Landon Knack for Friday start
Dodgers recalled RHP Landon Knack from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Advice: The 26-year-old right-hander will start in the opener of the team’s two-game Freeway Series against the Angels on Friday night. If he pitches well, he could stick around for a while with both Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Walker Buehler on the injured list. Knack has pitched very well in four starts for the Dodgers this season, posting a 2.61 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and a 16/6 K/BB ratio across 20 2/3 innings. J.P. Feyereisen was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move on Friday. Rotoworld Friday, 2:54 pm

    • Continues standout season
Lugo allowed two runs on six hits and three walks while striking out eight batters over 6.2 innings in a no-decision against Oakland on Thursday.

Advice: Lugo held the A's scoreless until Zack Gelof tagged him for a two-run homer with two outs in the seventh inning. The blast tied the game, costing Lugo a chance at his 11th win of the campaign. The right-hander nonetheless notched his 12th quality start, which is tied for the MLB lead. Lugo has reached that mark with an excellent 2.42 ERA and 1.07 WHIP through 104 innings. Rotowire.com Thursday, 11:40 pm
    • Shane Baz strikes out six on Thursday at Triple-A
Rays RHP prospect Shane Baz struck out six over three scoreless innings on Thursday for Triple-A Durham.

Advice: Baz averaged 96.5 mph on his four-seam fastball, which generated seven swinging strikes in this one, and needed just 70 pitches to navigate three frames. He gave up four hits and also issued three walks. The 25-year-old top pitching prospect has recorded 24 strikeouts over his last three starts since June 8. It’s time. • Lugo allows two runs in no-decision on Thursday
Seth Lugo allowed two runs in 6 2/3 innings and got a no-decision in the Royals’ 3-2 victory over the Athletics on Thursday.

Advice: Lugo gave up six hits, walked three and struck out eight. He allowed a two-run game-tying home run to Zack Gelof in the seventh inning, but it was still another solid effort from Lugo. The 34-year-old right-hander is set to face the Marlins at home next week.

    • Landon Knack starting Friday against Angels
Landon Knack will start on Friday against the Angels.

Advice: Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed to reporters following Thursday’s win over the Rockies that Knack will get the ball to kick off the Freeway Series against the Angels. The 26-year-old righty draws the starting assignment in place of an injured Yoshinobu Yamamoto. He’s posted a respectable 2.61 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 16/6 K/BB ratio across 20 2/3 innings (four starts) this season in the majors. He figures to get some extended run with both Yamamoto and Walker Buehler on the shelf for an extended period. There’s definitely some streaming appeal here for fantasy managers in deeper mixed leagues. Rotoworld Thursday, 3:28 pm

    • Starting Friday
Knack will be recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City to start against the Angels on Friday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Knack has been extremely effective in the majors this season, posting a 2.61 ERA and 0.97 WHIP across 20.2 innings through his first four starts. He'll now return to Los Angeles to fill the opening in the Dodgers' rotation left by Yoshinobu Yamamoto's (shoulder) trip to the injured list, though there's a good chance Knack's time in the majors is limited to only Friday's outing. • Tosses quality start but takes loss
Crochet (6-6) took the loss against Houston on Wednesday, allowing three runs on nine hits and one walk while striking out eight batters over six innings.

Advice: Crochet racked up a hearty 19 whiffs and eight punchouts, but it wasn't enough to keep him out of the loss column in a contest during which he was supported with just one run. The fact that the three earned runs were the most the left-hander has allowed since April 24 speaks volumes about the quality of his campaign thus far. Crochet has tallied six consecutive quality starts and is tied for 10th in the majors with 10 total on the campaign. He also ranks second in the league with 124 punchouts while posting a 3.25 ERA and 0.95 WHIP through 88.2 innings. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 11:05 pm
    • Garrett Crochet strikes out eight in loss to Astros
Garrett Crochet allowed three runs with eight strikeouts across six innings in a loss to the Astros on Wednesday.

Advice: Crochet came into this one on a roll, not allowing more than two runs over each of his last nine starts. The Astros got to him for three on Wednesday, starting with three hits and a groundout to bring a run across in the third inning. A walk and two hits brought another run in to score in the fourth. After a scoreless fifth, Crochet allowed one more run in on a double and a base hit in the sixth. He still generated 19 whiffs to strike out eight batters. The 24-year-old left-hander will take a 3.25 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, and a 124/20 K/BB ratio across 88 2/3 innings into a start against the Dodgers in Chicago on Monday. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:41 pm
    • Collects 18th save
Suarez struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Wednesday to record his 18th save of the season in a 5-2 win over the Phillies.

Advice: One day after blowing his first save chance of the season, Suarez was back in his usual form, firing nine of 13 pitches for strikes as he shut down the Phillies' 6-7-8 hitters. The 33-year-old right-hander came into 2024 with only one career save, but he's having a breakout campaign as the Padres' closer, posting a 1.17 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and 29:6 K:BB through 30.2 innings.
