    • Still at third base
Smith started at third base and went 1-for-3 with an RBI in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Brewers. He was also hit by a pitch.

Advice: Smith gave the Rangers an early lead in the top of the first inning, but the offense was silenced for the last eight frames. The HBP was his second in as many games and third over the last five; he leads MLB in that category with 12. It was thought Smith's run at third base might come to end this week, but Josh Jung (wrist) experienced a setback and is not expected to return during the Rangers' road trip that ends Sunday in Baltimore. • Josh Smith drives in lone run for Rangers in loss
Josh Smith went 1-for-3 with an RBI in Tuesday’s loss to the Brewers.

Advice: Smith singled off Hoby Milner in the first inning to score Corey Seager from second, giving the Rangers an early 1-0 lead and their only run of the game. Smith was responsible for just one of five hits the Rangers had on the night, but the young third baseman has turned in a solid June, going 22-for-61 (.361) at the plate with eight extra-base hits and 10 RBI. • Goes yard again
Smith went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Sunday's 4-0 win over Kansas City.

Advice: Smith tagged Sam Long for a solo shot in the seventh inning, marking Smith's third home run in the last five games. During that stretch, he's 7-for-13 with six RBI. With third baseman Josh Jung (wrist) nearing a return, Smith could shift away from the hot corner and into the DH slot. Rotowire.com Sunday, 10:40 pm
    • Josh Smith homers in win
Josh Smith went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a win over the Royals on Sunday.

Advice: Smith took Sam Long deep 383 feet at 102.2 mph for his seventh home run on the season. The 26-year-old has been brilliant filling in for Josh Jung, hitting .303/.391/.478 on the year. Considering his ability to play all over the field, he should be able to fight for consistent playing time even when Jung returns. Provided he keeps hitting like this. Rotoworld Sunday, 3:01 pm
    • Back at third base for now
Smith started at third base and went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's 6-0 win over Kansas City.

Advice: Smith made a second consecutive start in the field after serving as a designated hitter for a pair of games. He had been dealing with a hamstring injury that forced him to miss four games before returning as the DH. Now that he's back in the field, the question becomes how long he will be there. Third baseman Josh Jung (wrist) rejoined the team Friday and will take live batting practice Tuesday. If all goes well, Jung could be activated off the 60-day injured list afterward. The Rangers would like to keep Smith's bat in the lineup; he's batting .304/.393/.469 over a career-high 259 plate appearances. The lefty hitter could serve as the primary DH; he owns an .857 OPS against lefties and an .863 OPS against righties this season. Rotowire.com Sunday, 4:36 am
    • Smith belts sixth home run in win Saturday
Josh Smith went 2-for-3 with a solo home run against the Royals on Saturday.

Advice: Smith’s home run was his sixth of the year. He’s 15-for-37 (.405) with three home runs, eight RBI and a stolen base in his last 13 games. Smith has stood out on the Rangers offense and found his way to the No. 3 spot in the lineup. Given Texas’ other options, they’ll continue to find playing time for him as long as he’s producing like this. Rotoworld Saturday, 3:46 pm
    • Homers, drives in four in win
Martinez went 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 11-1 victory over the Cubs.

Advice: Martinez opened the scoring with a three-run home run off Shota Imanaga in the first inning, and he then added an RBI single in the fourth. Martinez went 1-for-10 in a quiet series against the Rangers earlier this week but continued a nice June, as he's now hitting .297 with four home runs and 17 RBI in 64 at-bats. On the season, he owns a .287 average with nine homers and 31 RBI in 178 at-bats. Rotowire.com Friday, 3:13 pm
    • J.D. Martinez homers, drives in four in rout
J.D. Martinez delivered a three-run homer and an RBI single Friday as the Mets torched the Cubs 11-1.

Advice: Martinez is 11-for-27 with four homers, three doubles and 12 RBI in his last eight games. His current .870 OPS is practically a match for his career mark of .873, but it’s especially impressive given the current conditions, especially for a Mets hitter. Unfortunately, he’s probably going to lose his streak of five straight All-Star appearances, unless maybe the NL carries a third DH alongside Shohei Ohtani and Marcell Ozuna. • Alex Verdugo sits against left-hander on Friday
Alex Verdugo is not in the Yankees’ starting lineup for Friday night’s battle against the Braves.

Advice: While Verdugo started each of the team’s last two games against left-handed starters, he’ll get a breather with tough southpaw Chris Sale taking the hill for the Braves on Friday night. Verdugo is enjoying a solid season for the Bombers’, slashing .254/.309/.413 with nine homers and 41 RBI through his first 74 ballgames. Jahmai Jones will start in his place in left field and bat fifth for the Yankees on Friday evening in the Bronx. Rotoworld Friday, 1:10 pm
