    • On track to return next week
Diaz (shoulder) said after his rehab appearance with High-A Brooklyn on Thursday that he will get one more rehab outing Sunday before being activated from the 15-day injured list on Wednesday or Thursday, SNY reports.

Advice: Diaz allowed one hit and struck out two in a scoreless inning for Brooklyn in his first rehab appearance. The reliever was pleased with his performance, saying after the game that his fastball had "new life" and his slider felt "great." Diaz is on track to return to the Mets' bullpen next week, although it's not clear whether he will serve as the team's closer right away. Rotowire.com Today, 8:11 am

    • Nabs 16th save
Iglesias pitched a perfect inning to earn a save against the Nationals on Thursday.

Advice: Iglesias made quick work of Washington in the ninth inning, needing just nine pitches to set the side down in order. The veteran closer has converted each of his past eight save chances, allowing three runs over 10 frames during that span. Iglesias hasn't been punching out batters at his usual rate this season -- he has just 16 strikeouts through 23.1 innings -- but he nonetheless is tied for fifth in the majors with 16 saves (in 18 chances). • Railes Iglesias gets 16th save Thursday
Raisel Iglesias tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Nationals on Thursday.

Advice: The save was Iglesias’ 16th of the season, but his lack of strikeouts this season is evident. He has struck out seven in his last 12 innings. Iglesias’ 17 percent strikeout percentage on the season is by far the lowest of his career and could catch up with him eventually. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:02 pm
    • Edwin Díaz strikes out two in rehab appearance
Edwin Díaz (shoulder) struck out two in a scoreless inning on Thursday in a minor league rehab appearance for High-A Brooklyn.

Advice: Díaz threw 14 pitches (11 strikes) and was reportedly touching 98 mph on his heater in his first rehab outing as he works his way back from a right shoulder impingement that sent him to the injured list back in late May. The 30-year-old righty figures to take over as New York’s primary closing option once he returns, despite his struggles this season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:32 pm

    • Handed loss Wednesday
Kimbrel (4-2) allowed an unearned run on two hits over one-third of an inning, taking the loss Wednesday versus the Blue Jays.

Advice: Isiah Kiner-Falefa delivered a walk-off single in the ninth inning to hand Kimbrel his first loss since April 28. This also ended Kimbrel's scoreless streak at 7.2 innings, though he hasn't given up an earned run since May 8. The closer has a 2.95 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, 31:9 K:BB and 13 saves in 16 chances through 21.1 innings this season. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 11:13 pm
    • Craig Kimbrel takes loss to Blue Jays in ninth
Craig Kimbrel, who entered a tie game to start the bottom of the ninth, took a loss after giving up an unearned run Wednesday against the Blue Jays.

Advice: The unearned run was his own fault, as he threw the ball away on a pickoff attempt. The runners to reach against him both did so on singles, and Isiah Kiner-Falefa’s game-winning hit to right would have been caught if Kyle Stowers wasn’t playing shallow to prevent the sac fly with one out. It’s obviously a bad result, but since Kimbrel’s pitching wasn’t really the problem tonight, it’s unlikely to throw the closer’s role in Baltimore into chaos again. Rotoworld Wednesday, 8:18 pm
    • Dominant vs. Atlanta
Pivetta (3-4) earned the win Wednesday over Atlanta, allowing just one hit and two walks while striking out nine over seven scoreless innings.

Advice: It was a stellar effort against a potent Atlanta lineup from Pivetta, who now has nine strikeouts in consecutive starts while punching out eight or more in four of his last five outings. The 31-year-old right-hander lowered his ERA to 3.40 with a 0.94 WHIP and 51:9 K:BB across eight starts (42.1 innings) this season. Pivetta is currently in line for a home matchup with the Phillies early next week in his next outing. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 2:09 pm

    • Nick Pivetta delivers gem in 9-0 win over Braves
Nick Pivetta allowed only one hit over seven innings Wednesday as the Red Sox shut out the Braves 9-0.

Advice: Pivetta fanned nine and walked two in his longest outing of the year. In eight starts this season, he’s been great three times, good three times and bad twice, which probably should have produced something better than a 3-4 record. He might be more valuable for fantasy purposes in the second half of the season, as the Red Sox will likely cash him in before he hits free agency. Rotoworld Wednesday, 1:25 pm

    • Beginning rehab assignment
Diaz (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Brooklyn on Thursday.

Advice: Diaz threw a successful bullpen session Tuesday and has now been cleared to test things out in a game setting. He is eligible for activation from the 15-day injured list on June 11 when the Mets return home from London. Barring a setback, Diaz should be ready to go that day. Whether he is used as the closer right away upon his return is unclear, as Diaz's struggles prior to getting hurt had led to him sharing save chances with others. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 11:50 am
