  • Michael Busch sits for second straight game
    Michael Busch is not in the Cubs’ lineup on Monday against the Brewers.

    Advice: With the Brewers throwing a left-handed pitcher, Busch will find himself on the bench; however, he was also on the bench on Sunday. The rookie is hitting 12-for-64 (.188) in May with one home run and a 39.2 percent strikeout rate. If he doesn’t start picking it up soon, it’s fair to wonder how much longer the Cubs will keep him in the starting lineup.     Freeman went 1-for-3 with a walk, a hit-by-pitch, one RBI and one stolen base in Sunday's 5-4 win over the Angels.

    Advice: Freeman is still hitting just .217 on the year, but he's made big strides by batting .302 (13-for-43) over his last 12 contests. He's hit leadoff during that entire span, though his time atop the order will likely end when Steven Kwan (hamstring) returns.   • Picks up another shaky save
    Helsley allowed a run on three hits in one inning but earned the save in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Cubs. He struck out a batter in the outing.

    Advice: Helsley ran into trouble against the Cubs for the second consecutive night and was still able to escape with a save. He allowed a leadoff home run to Ian Happ and then gave up back-to-back two-out singles before getting Seiya Suzuki to end things with a fly out. That's now seven hits and three runs given up by Helsley over his last two appearances, though both still turned into saves at the end of the day.     Goldschmidt went 2-for-4 with a pair of two-run home runs in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Cubs.

    Advice: Goldschmidt opened up the scoring with a 424-foot two-run shot off Javier Assad in the third. He then followed up with another two-run blast in the fifth to put the Cardinals up 4-0, which was enough for them to hold onto the win. In 12 games since May 12, the 36-year-old is slashing .308/.357/.596 with four home runs, 10 RBI and nine runs scored. Sunday also marked his first multi-homer game since May 23, 2023. Despite his strong form of late, Goldschmidt is still underdelivering for fantasy managers on the whole this season, slashing .222/.298/.345 with six home runs, 21 RBI, 25 runs and three stolen bases across 215 plate appearances.     Paul Goldschmidt clobbered a pair of two-run homers on Sunday night, powering the Cardinals to a 4-3 victory over the visiting Cubs.

    Advice: The 36-year-old slugger opened the scoring in the ballgame with a 424-foot (110.0 mph EV) two-run shot off of Javier Assad in the third inning. He then repeated the process in the fifth inning — that time a 399-foot (104.3 mph) two-run bomb.     Ryan Helsley served up a solo homer to Ian Happ in the ninth inning on Sunday night, but still managed to escape with the lead intact and earn his 17th save of the season.

    Advice: After giving up a leadoff blast to Happ that trimmed the Cardinals’ lead to one run, he then retired Dansby Swanson on a line drive to third base and struck out Michael Busch. He then allowed a pair of two-out singles to Nick Madrigal and Mike Tauchman before getting Seiya Suzuki on a line drive to center to end it.   • Return date uncertain
    Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Friday that Muncy is still feeling his oblique strain and will proceed cautiously, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

    Advice: Roberts had previously indicated that Muncy could start a rehab assignment soon with a potential return to the Dodgers coming next week, though he backed off on that statement Friday. The third baseman began doing some work in the field Tuesday, but Roberts indicated that Muncy won't progress to hitting off a tee until the team feels he's fully recovered.
