• Surrenders four runs in defeat
Bassitt (7-7) took the loss against Houston on Thursday, allowing four runs on eight hits and four walks while striking out three batters over five innings.

Advice: Bassitt got off to a terrible start in allowing six of the first seven batters he faced to reach base, resulting in three Astros runs. The veteran hurler bounced back to give up just one more run over the remainder of his five frames, but the first-inning damage was enough to send him to his seventh loss of the season. Bassitt had been rolling coming into Thursday, posting a 1.41 ERA across his previous five starts, and the four runs he yielded against Houston were his most since he gave up seven runs against the Dodgers on April 26. Bassitt's overall numbers this season have been pretty much in line with what fantasy managers have come to expect from him -- he has a 3.43 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 94:41 K:BB across 102.1 frames. • Goes yard in win
Chapman went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an RBI double in Thursday's 4-2 win over Atlanta.

Advice: Chapman is 14-for-38 (.368) with four homers and 12 RBI over his last 10 contests. The third baseman put the Giants ahead with his fourth-inning solo shot and then added the RBI double for an insurance run in the sixth. Chapman's recent surge has him at a .245/.325/.426 slash line with 12 homers, 42 RBI, 56 runs scored, 23 doubles and seven stolen bases through 85 contests this season. • Huge day at plate
Happ went 4-for-4 with two home runs, a double and six RBI during Thursday's 10-2 win against the Phillies.

Advice: Happ blasted his 12th dinger in the fourth with a three-run blast from the right side of the plate that put the Cubs on the board, then turned around and repeated the feat from the left side of the plate in the fifth. It was the second multi-homer game of the season for Happ while the six RBI represent a season high. Happ, who entered the day batting 6-for-38 (.158) over the last 12 games, raised his season average from .227 to .238 with 13 homers, 20 doubles, 50 RBI, 47 runs and seven steals. • Ian Happ hits two three-run homers in rout
Ian Happ went 4-for-4 and hit a pair of three-run homers as the Cubs crushed the Phillies 10-2 on Thursday.

Advice: One of Happ’s remaining hits was a double, giving him 11 total bases in four plate appearances. Unfortunately, he was on deck when the bottom of the eighth ended, denying him a chance to add on. Happ has seven homers in his last 18 games after totaling just six in his first 64. He’s added about 100 points of OPS in three weeks and is currently at .238/.351/.448 for the year. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:58 pm

  • Chris Bassitt allows four to Astros over five
Chris Bassitt went five innings while allowing four runs in a loss to the Astros on Thursday.

Advice: Bassitt, 35, gave up eight hits, walked four and struck out three. Most of the damage was done early, as he gave up three runs in the first inning before settling down. The right-hander had allowed just three total earned runs over his last two starts, so it goes without saying this outing — while not horrific — didn’t keep that good run going. His final start before the break is scheduled Wednesday against the Giants in San Francisco. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:52 pm

  • Bo Bichette scratched Thursday with forearm bruise
Bo Bichette was scratched from Thursday’s lineup due to a right forearm contusion.

Advice: It’ll be Leo Jimenez making his big-league debut at shortstop on Thursday against the Astros in his absence. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:57 am

  • Luis Gil has been struggling with release point
According to Yankees manager Aaron Boone, Luis Gil’s recent struggles could be impacted by an inconsistent release point.

Advice: Boone said that the Yankees have noticed that Gil’s recent point has been inconsistent of late. That could be tied to fatigue since he’s pitching more innings than he ever has before or it could simply be a mechanical issue with an easy fix. The inconsistent release point could also be leading Gil to tip some of his pitches, which might provide more context to why the Orioles were able to pounce on his fastball so much in his recent start. It should also be noted that Gil is making many non-competitive pitches and leaving pitches over the heart of the plate, so the release point isn’t the only issue to be fixed, but it might be one that can be addressed soon.
