• Becomes free agent
    Castillo elected free agency Sunday.

Advice: Castillo cleared waivers after the Twins designated him for assignment Wednesday, and rather than sticking around in the Minnesota organization as pitching depth at Triple-A St. Paul, the 30-year-old will look to find work elsewhere. Prior to being pushed off the 40-man roster, Castillo made five relief appearances for Minnesota and gave up two earned runs on five hits and seven walks over seven innings. • Removed from Sunday's game
Yoshida was hit by a pitch on the hand during the seventh inning and removed from Sunday's game against the Yankees, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: Boston manager Alex Cora said Yoshida is okay but will not start Monday in Toronto with a left-hander on the mound. The manager expects Yoshida back in the lineup Tuesday. Rotowire.com 46 minutes ago
  • May require rehab assignment
Tucker (lower leg) may require a rehab assignment, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Manager Joe Espada relayed that Tucker is feeling better, including doing some work in the weight room. However, Espada also added that if Tucker isn't able to begin running within the next few days he will require a rehab assignment before being activated. If that were the case, his return may not come until late June. Rotowire.com 47 minutes ago

  • Drawing another start
Rodriguez is scheduled to start Monday's game against the Angels in Anaheim, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: The 22-year-old righty will get another turn through the rotation despite underwhelming in his MLB debut versus Toronto this past Tuesday, when he struck out four over 3.2 innings while giving up two runs on seven hits and one walk. Rodriguez showed the ability to make bats miss at every stop of the minors, but control remains a concern for the youngster. Even though he issued just one walk in his debut, he wasn't particularly efficient, as he needed 71 pitches to record 10 outs and threw just 43 strikes. Rodriguez would bolster his case for sticking around with the big club if he pitches well Monday, but Jakob Junis' (shoulder) impending return from the 60-day injured list might make Rodriguez expendable if he struggles against the Angels. • Escapes massive jam in win
Kelly struck out two over a scoreless inning and stranded three runners in Sunday's 9-3 win over the Yankees.

Advice: For the second time in the series, Kelly was a Yankee stopper. After retiring all six batters faced Friday, the right-hander entered Sunday's contest with the bases loaded and none out in a one-run game. He struck out the first two batters before getting a line out to center field. Kelly was facing the bottom third of New York's lineup, but the Houdini escape act was no less impressive. He's struck out 12 over 7.1 innings since being called up from Triple-A Worcester. Rotowire.com 50 minutes ago
  • Rejoining rotation Wednesday
Hendricks is listed as the Cubs' probable starting pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Giants at Wrigley Field, Tony Andracki of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Advice: As anticipated, Hendricks will return from a one-month stint in the bullpen to rejoin the rotation in the spot that had previously fallen to Jordan Wicks (oblique) and Ben Brown (neck), both of whom are now on the injured list. Hendricks won't be returning to a starting role with a bit of momentum; after giving up five earned runs over 5.2 innings between his first two relief outings, the veteran righty righted the ship and tossed 8.2 scoreless frames over his subsequent three appearances. Despite his solid form of late, Hendricks' numbers over a larger sample of seven starts earlier this season were worrisome (10.57 ERA, 1.99 WHIP, 9.3 K-BB% over 30.2 innings), so expectations should be tempered Wednesday. Barring a dramatic turnaround in his performance from earlier in the season, Hendricks will likely be headed to the bullpen once the Cubs get one of Wicks or Brown back from the IL. • Extends hit streak to nine games
Wong went 2-for-4 with a walk, a triple and three RBI in Sunday's 9-3 win over the Yankees.

Advice: Wong delivered a two-run triple in the seventh inning then singled in a run an inning later. The catcher upped his hit streak to nine games, during which he's 12-for-31 (.387) with six walks, six RBI, one steal and four runs scored. Rotowire.com 58 minutes ago
  • Cleared to start Monday
Hicks (illness) will start Monday's game against the Cubs at Wrigley Field, Tony Andracki of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Advice: Giants manager Bob Melvin acknowledged after Hicks' most recent outing in Tuesday's loss to the Astros that the right-hander had been sick for several days leading up to the start. The illness might have played a factor in Hicks' lackluster numbers versus Houston (three runs allowed on five hits and one walk over 4.2 innings), but it won't cause him to miss his next turn through the rotation. With the ailment further in the rear-view mirror while he takes the hill Monday on five days' rest, Hicks will look to recapture the strong form he displayed earlier in the season. Even though he's failed to meet the threshold for a quality start in each of his last eight appearances, Hicks heads into Monday's game with a 3.01 ERA and 1.20 WHIP. • Gives up run in non-save situation
Hader allowed one earned run on two hits and no walks while striking out two in the ninth inning Sunday against the Tigers.

Advice: Hader entered the game with the Astros up 4-0 and allowed consecutive hits with one out to surrender the earned run. He's given up at least one earned run in three of his last 10 appearances, though he has maintained 14:1 K:BB across 9.2 innings in that span. Though not primarily his fault, Hader has not tallied a save since June 3. Rotowire.com Today, 6:52 am
