    • Luis Castillo chased in 6th in loss to Rays
      Luis Castillo allowed four runs on five hits in 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the Rays on Tuesday.

      Advice: The Mariners ace struck out four and walked four on the day. He wasn’t sharp, with just a 44 percent zone rate on the day, but he had kept it together until the sixth inning. With the game tied at two, Castillo got one quick out but walked the next two hitters and was chased from the game. Michael Baumann then allowed a triple and a home run to bring in both inherited runners. Castillo had nine whiffs on 44 swings for a 20 percent whiff rate and 29 percent CSW on the day. We can probably chalk this up to a poor start, but it’s his second straight one so we’d like to see him right the ship next time out. The only problem is that the start comes against the Orioles.     • Yet to resume throwing
      Astros manager Joe Espada said Tuesday that Verlander (neck) has yet to resume throwing, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

      Advice: Verlander has been shut down for more than a week with neck discomfort and continues to progress more slowly than expected. The veteran right-hander is eligible for activation from the 15-day injured list Monday, but it's too early at this point to know whether he will be ready to go on that day. Houston currently has just four members in its rotation, but it will need to add a fifth if Verlander's injury continues to linger. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 10:55 am
       
    • Justin Verlander (neck) still not ready to throw
      Astros manager Joe Espada told reporters Tuesday that Justin Verlander (neck) is still making slower progress than anticipated.

      Advice: Espada reiterated that this issue isn’t a shoulder, elbow or arm problem; but strictly issues with neck stiffness. The 41-year-old has been on the injured list since the middle of June with the issue, and at this point, it seems unlikely that we see Verlander back until the middle of July — possibly after the All-Star break. That’s just speculation, however, and there’s no concrete timetable for Verlander rejoining the rotation. Rotoworld Tuesday, 10:49 am
       
    • Three more hits, including walk-off
      Duran went 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored in Monday's 7-6 walk-off win over the Blue Jays.

      Advice: Duran figured prominently in the come-from-behind win, in which Boston scored five times in the final two innings. Thanks to a miscommunication by Toronto's left side of the infield, his eighth-inning popup fell to the ground for a double followed by David Hamilton's two-run home run. An inning later, Duran produced the walk-off run with a single. The outfielder has multiple hits in five consecutive games (12-for-23) and has hit safely in 14 straight.     • Secures third win
      Jansen (3-1) allowed a hit in a scoreless inning Monday. He struck out one and earned a win over Toronto.

      Advice: Jansen worked a quick ninth inning, needing only 10 pitches to keep the game tied 6-6. Boston won the game in the bottom of the frame and gave him his second win of the month. Jansen is 2-0 with eight saves and a 0.77 ERA over his last 11 appearances. Rotowire.com Monday, 7:02 pm
       
    • Duran has three hits including game-winner Monday
      Jarren Duran went 3-for-5 with two runs scored, a double and an RBI against the Blue Jays on Monday.

      Advice: Duran capped off the Red Sox’ comeback with a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the ninth that scored Ceddanne Rafaela. It was another big game for Duran, who had three hits including a double and also scored twice. On the season, he’s hitting .293 with an .843 OPS and 37 RBI. Rotoworld Monday, 6:55 pm
       
    • Blake Snell (groin) to make second rehab start
      Blake Snell, combing back from a groin strain, will make another rehab start for Triple-A Sacramento on Friday.

      Advice: Snell struggled in his first outing, giving up two earned runs and walking three in 1 2/3 innings. If he’s better Friday, he could be activated next time through the rotation. Rotoworld Monday, 4:33 pm

    • Next rehab start coming Friday
      Snell (groin) will throw a bullpen session Tuesday and make another rehab start for Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

      Advice: Snell showed signs of rust during his first rehab appearance with Sacramento on Sunday, and as expected, he'll make at least one more start in the minors before the club considers activating him from the 15-day injured list. The southpaw fired 51 pitches Sunday and will continue to build toward a full workload in his upcoming appearance as he makes his way back from a left groin strain. Rotowire.com Monday, 4:10 pm

      Altuve went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs scored Sunday against the Orioles.

      Advice: Altuve led off the bottom of the first inning with his 12th home run of the season and third in his last 13 starts. He's been hot in that stretch, maintaining a .352 average with 11 RBI and 10 runs scored while also chipping in a stolen base.
