      Advice: Snell looked sharp to begin his first start after a month-long IL stint, keeping the Pirates scoreless after three frames. However, the 31-year-old crumbled in the fourth inning, yielding two walks, a hit-by-pitch and an infield single to let a run score and leave the bases loaded with one out for Sean Hjelle. Hjelle gave up a grand slam to the first batter he faced and pushed Snell's earned run total to four. Snell hasn't completed five innings in a start this season and is 0-3 with an 11.40 ERA through 15.0 innings. He's projected for a home start against the Phillies on Monday.       Blake Snell had mixed results in his return from the injured list on Wednesday, giving up four runs on four hits over 3 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Pirates.

      Advice: On the plus side for fantasy managers, Snell piled up five strikeouts on the evening, but he also issued four free passes. He kept the Pirates’ offense off the board through the first three frames but ran into serious trouble in the fourth. There, he loaded the bases on a pair of walks and an infield single, then plunked Andrew McCutchen to force in a run. He then turned the ball over to the bullpen — who immediately gave up a grand slam to allow all three inherited runners to score. Snell got an impressive 15 swings and misses on 87 pitches on the night — nine on his heater — while posting a CSW of 25 percent.       The Giants activated Snell (adductor) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday against the Pirates in Pittsburgh.

      Advice: Snell will rejoin the rotation Wednesday after completing his recovery from a Grade 2 adductor strain. The left-hander posted an 11.57 ERA in his first three starts with the Giants this season but looked sharp during two rehab outings, not allowing a hit or a run while collecting a 17:1 K:BB in nine innings. He threw just 60 pitches in his most recent rehab outing Friday, so Snell's workload could be relatively limited Wednesday. According to Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area, Snell could go on paternity leave after Wednesday's outing, but in such a scenario, he should be back in time to make his next start.       Bednar (3-3) picked up the win Tuesday, striking out one in a perfect 10th inning during a 7-6 victory over the Giants.

      Advice: After the Pirates rallied for four runs in the ninth, Bednar got the call for the top of the 10th and set down three straight pinch hitters in Mike Yastrzemski, LaMonte Wade and Patrick Bailey. The right-hander then got rewarded when Nick Gonzales walked it off by singling on the first pitch he saw in the bottom of the frame. Bednar has turned things around following a bumpy first month of the season, and over 10 appearances in May he's posted a 2.89 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 7:3 K:BB through 9.1 innings while converting all five of his save chances and chipping in two wins.       Ryan (3-3) picked up the win Tuesday, allowing three hits and two walks over seven scoreless innings in a 10-0 rout of the Nationals. He struck out six.

      Advice: The right-hander didn't let a baserunner get past second base as he delivered his seventh quality start of the season in 10 trips to the mound. Tuesday's outing was also the first time in 2024 that Ryan had issued multiple free passes.       Pfaadt (2-3) got the win over the Dodgers on Tuesday, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and a walk while striking out seven over six innings.

      Advice: Pfaadt picked up a win for the first time since his season-opening start against the Rockies on March 31. His first run allowed was unearned off a throwing error by Gabriel Moreno and then the Dodgers finally got to him in the sixth for a pair. Pfaadt only gave up one barreled ball on the evening and now has five straight quality starts and seven or more strikeouts three times.       Alvarez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Tuesday's 6-5 win over the Angels.

      Advice: Alvarez went back-to-back with Kyle Tucker in the first inning for his first home run since May 9. After slumping a bit earlier this month, his bat has heated back up.
