  • Strong results in rehab outing
    Williams (elbow) yielded one run on three hits and two walks over four innings in a rehab start with Triple-A Columbus on Thursday.

    Advice: Williams wasn't very efficient, needing 82 pitches to cover his four frames. The results were impressive, though, as he struck out six, induced 16 whiffs and gave up just one batted ball hit at 95+ mph. The Guardians have not confirmed any plans for when Williams' season debut for them will occur, but it could be next week, as soon as Tuesday versus the White Sox.   • Imaging comes out clean
    Darvish had imaging on his right elbow come back clean Wednesday, though he'll likely get additional imaging "for peace of mind," Bernie Wilson of the Associated Press reports.

    Advice: Darvish has recovered from a groin injury and was originally expected to come off the injured list to start Tuesday, but that plan was scrapped when he developed inflammation in his right elbow. Initial indications suggested that the issue is minor, and the clean imaging seems to support that, though San Diego will likely be cautious with the veteran hurler's return.   • Lone bright spot in loss
    Judge went 2-for-2 with a two-run home run and a walk in a loss to the Mets on Wednesday.

    Advice: Though the Yankees suffered through an ugly loss to their crosstown rival, Judge kept chugging along, smashing a 400-foot, two-run homer in the sixth inning for his team's only runs. The long ball was the slugger's 10th through 21 games in a monstrous June during which he's also produced 32 RBI. Judge is the league leader with 30 home runs on the campaign, and he's just the third player in MLB history to reach 30 homers before the All-Star break three times in his career, per Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.   • Manny Machado has two hits in victory over Nats
    Manny Machado went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and a run scored as the Padres bested the Nationals on Wednesday afternoon in San Diego.

    Advice: Machado led off the eighth inning with a single off of Tanner Rainey, then rode home on Kyle Higashioka’s grand slam. With his two-hit attack on Wednesday, the 31-year-old superstar third baseman is now hitting .264/.316/.390 on the season to go along with eight homers, 40 RBI and five stolen bases.     Yandy Díaz went 2-for-4 with an RBI on Wednesday in the Rays’ loss to the Mariners.

    Advice: Díaz kicked off the scoring with a run-scoring single off Mariners starter George Kirby in the third inning, marking his eighth consecutive contest with an RBI since June 19.     Edman (wrist) sprained his ankle while fielding grounders Tuesday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

    Advice: The injury isn't viewed as a major setback, but it's not ideal after Edman had finally been making some real progress in his recovery from right wrist surgery.
