• Surrenders four runs
Ryan allowed four runs on six hits and struck out five without walking a batter over six innings in a no-decision versus the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Ryan's run of three straight quality starts came to a close, as Arizona got to him early Tuesday. All four runs on his line were surrendered over the first two innings, though he was able to settle down and exit at 86 pitches (58 strikes). This was the fourth time in 2024 that Ryan avoided walking a batter. He's now at a 3.31 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 100:15 K:BB over 98 innings through 16 starts. He's projected to make his next start at Seattle. Rotowire.com 8 minutes ago

  • Set for MRI on sore shoulder
Canterino was shut down from throwing due to shoulder pain and is set for an MRI next week, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Advice: Canterino missed all of 2023 while recovering from Tommy John surgery. He returned for spring training but suffered a rotator cuff strain in mid-March. He had recently started throwing and working his way back, but could face a significant setback. Rotowire.com 14 minutes ago

  • Converts 10th save
Sewald allowed a hit in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Twins.

Advice: Sewald needed 17 pitches (nine strikes) to close out this contest, earning his 10th save in as many chances this year. He's on a 13.2-inning scoreless streak -- the only run he's allowed this year came in his season debut after he started the year on the injured list. Sewald has maintained a stellar 0.61 ERA, 0.55 WHIP and 12:3 K:BB over 14.2 innings this season. Rotowire.com 14 minutes ago

  • Ends up with no-decision
Pfaadt allowed four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out two over 6.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Twins on Tuesday.

Advice: Pfaadt pitched into the seventh inning for the second start in a row, but it resulted in him giving up a three-run home run to Ryan Jeffers that tied the game at 4-4. Arizona got the lead back in its half of the frame, but Pfaadt was already out of the game, leaving the win to reliever Kevin Ginkel. Through five starts in June, Pfaadt has allowed 17 runs over 30 innings with a 23:12 K:BB. He's now at a 4.45 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 86:24 K:BB through 97 innings through 16 starts this season. The right-hander is lined up to make his next start at home in a favorable matchup versus the Athletics. Rotowire.com 17 minutes ago

  • Set to throw bullpen session
Topa (left patellar tear) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session next week, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Advice: The right-hander was diagnosed with a small tear in the patellar tendon of his left knee in mid-May. It's his first sign of progress since the injury and he likely has several more weeks of throwing before he can begin a rehab assignment. He could return in late July if all goes well. • Randy Rodríguez strikes out five as opener
Randy Rodríguez allowed one run and struck out five in 2 2/3 innings Tuesday in his start against the Cubs.

Advice: This was definitely a bit longer than the Giants were expecting to go on one day of rest, but he made it hard to take him out; Rodríguez retired eight of nine batters before allowing a walk and an RBI single (after a stolen base) and getting pulled in the third. Rodríguez will probably open again later this week. Rotoworld 32 minutes ago

  • Kyle Hendricks holds Giants to two runs in loss
Kyle Hendricks was strong for seven innings Tuesday against the Giants, allowing just two runs and five hits in a loss.

Advice: Colten Brewer came in and gave up three runs in the eighth after Hendricks left, but that didn’t matter much in a game in which the Cubs managed just one run. Hendricks boasts a 0.84 ERA in 21 1/3 innings this month, making for an incredible in-season turnaround. He entered June with a 10.16 ERA in seven starts and two relief appearances. • Throws bullpen session
Stewart (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Sunday and is scheduled to throw again Wednesday and Saturday, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Advice: The right-hander landed on the injured list with shoulder tendinitis in early May and received a PRP injection a few weeks later. If all goes well Stewart could progress to a simulated game early next week. It's possible he could return in early July before the All-Star break, but his recovery has moved at a slow pace. Ohtani has now batted atop the order eight consecutive games while hitting .419 (13-for-31) with five homers, 14 RBI and 10 runs scored.
