    • Nails down save No. 10
Helsley struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Tuesday to record his 10th save of the season in the first game of a doubleheader against the Tigers.

Advice: All 10 pitches Helsley fired were strikes, and he hit triple digits on the radar gun with three of them. The right-hander has been lights out to begin the season, converting 10 of 11 save chances with a 1.69 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 19:2 K:BB through 16 innings. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 7:08 pm
    • Ryan Helsley nets 10th save Tuesday vs. Tigers
Ryan Helsley tossed a perfect ninth inning on Tuesday against the Tigers to collect his major league-leading 10th save of the season.

Advice: Helsley got the call to protect a slim one-run margin in the final frame after St. Louis stormed ahead with a pair of runs in the top of the frame and needed just 10 pitches (10 strikes) to slam the door. He’s converted 10 of his 11 save opportunities this season and continues rolling. Rotoworld Tuesday, 3:14 pm
    • Sent to Triple-A
The Padres optioned Cosgrove to Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday.

Advice: Cosgrove heads to the minors for the first time this season. With the Padres, he has allowed 14 earned runs across 12.0 innings in 2024. Last year, the 27-year-old posted a 1.75 ERA across 51.1 innings. The southpaw will look to regather himself in El Paso and find again what he had going last year. In a corresponding move, Yu Darvish was reinstated from the 15-day injured list. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 2:37 pm

    • Padres option Tom Cosgrove to Triple-A
Padres optioned LHP Tom Cosgrove to Triple-A El Paso.

Advice: Cosgrove heads back to the minors to make room for veteran Yu Darvish to return from the injured list ahead of Tuesday’s contest against the Reds. Rotoworld Tuesday, 2:31 pm

    • Fires six hitless frames
Fried pitched six scoreless and hitless innings against Seattle on Monday, walking two batters and striking out seven in a no-decision.

Advice: Fried was dominant in the outing, racking up 15 swinging strikes and allowing just two baserunners, both of whom reached via walk. However, he didn't get a chance to try to extend his no-hit bid beyond the sixth frame because he needed 100 pitches just to get that deep. Still, he was in line for the victory until A.J. Minter gave up a walk-off homer to Mitch Garver in the ninth frame. Fried began the campaign with two poor starts but has turned things around since, tossing three quality starts among his past four outings. He hasn't given up any runs across 15 frames over his past two starts. Rotowire.com Monday, 10:47 pm

    • Teoscar Hernández drives in two in victory
Teoscar Hernández finished 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI as the Dodgers topped the Diamondbacks 8-4 on Monday.

Advice: Hernández was the exit velocity champ tonight, hitting balls 110.8, 107.9 and 103.7 mph. His .263/.326/.466 line isn’t quite stellar, but with six homers, 22 RBI and three steals in 31 games, he’s definitely meeting expectations for fantasy purposes. Rotoworld Monday, 10:41 pm
    • Max Fried hurls six no-hit innings against Seattle
Max Fried hurled six no-hit innings with seven strikeouts in a no-decision Monday against the Mariners.

Advice: Fried did walk two, and unfortunately for the southpaw he needed exactly 100 pitches to get through the six frames. Otherwise there’s a good chance this could’ve been a no-no, as the Mariners were absolutely dominated by the 30-year-old. This comes after Fried was able to get a complete-game shutout, to say he’s pitching well lately is quite the understatement. He has lowered his ERA from 7.71 to 4.02 in the process, and will try and lower it again Sunday against the Dodgers in Los Angeles. Rotoworld Monday, 9:14 pm

    • Tee work from both sides of plate
Edman (wrist) took swings off a tee from both sides of the plate last week, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Advice: Edman had been limited to hitting only from the right side due to lingering concerns about his surgically repaired right wrist. However, he's now progressed to hitting from both sides of the dish and has done so without any soreness. Edman will continue a hitting progression as tolerated and appears far off from a return, but he's progressing. Rotowire.com Monday, 3:18 pm

    • Slated for season debut this week
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde confirmed Monday that Means (forearm) will be activated from the 15-day injured list later this week and will rejoin the rotation, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Advice: Hyde didn't divulge which day Means will pitch, but he would be on regular rest for Friday's series opener in Cincinnati. Means saved his best rehab start for last, as he struck out eight while allowing just one hit and one walk over seven scoreless innings for Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday. The left-hander got his pitch count up to 95 in the outing, so he should be ready for a typical workload in his first start with the Orioles. With both Means and Kyle Bradish (elbow) set to return from the IL this week, Albert Suarez and Cole Irvin would appear most at risk of losing out on starting roles if the Orioles elect to maintain a five-man rotation.
