    • Collects 13th save
Alvarado allowed a hit and struck out one in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Cubs.

Advice: This was Alvarado's first save since June 11, as Jeff Hoffman and Seranthony Dominguez had poached the last three saves. Alvarado remains the Phillies' top closer with 13 saves on the year, with Hoffman (seven), Gregory Soto (two) and Dominguez (one) rounding out the high-leverage group. Over 35 innings this season, Alvarado has maintained a strong 3.09 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 38:12 K:BB. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:26 pm
    • Takes no-decision Wednesday
Wheeler allowed two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out seven over six innings in a no-decision versus the Cubs on Wednesday.

Advice: Wheeler has posted quality starts in eight of his last nine outings, the lone exception being an eight-run disaster at Baltimore on June 16. The right-hander left Wednesday's game with a lead, but Matt Strahm couldn't maintain it, though the Phillies went on to win 5-3 anyway. Wheeler is now at a 2.74 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 119:33 K:BB through 111.2 innings over 18 starts this season. He's projected for a tough home start versus the Dodgers in his next outing. • Joey Estes tosses complete-game shutout Wednesday
Joey Estes tossed a complete-game shutout, striking out four in a win over the Angels on Wednesday.

Advice: Estes was incredible on the mound on Wednesday, tossing his first career complete-game shutout against the Angels. He scattered five hits and one walk, striking out four batters. He was able to escape trouble with three ground ball double plays by his infield defense. The 22-year-old right-hander will look to follow up the excellent start when he takes a 4.39 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and a 43/13 K/BB ratio across 54 2/3 innings into a start against the Red Sox in Boston on Tuesday. • Davis Daniel hit for five runs in loss to A’s
Davis Daniel allowed five runs -- four earned -- with three strikeouts across 5 1/3 innings in a loss against the Athletics on Wednesday.

Advice: After a scoreless first inning, Daniel gave up two singles in the second before a run scored on a throwing error. The A’s brought another run in on a double-steal. Max Schuemann added a run with a solo homer in the fifth, then Brent Rooker followed with a solo blast to lead off the sixth. Daniel left the sixth inning with two runners on and one out. One inherited runner came in to score. The 27-year-old right-hander ended the day with a 2.70 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, and an 11/1 K/BB ratio across 13 1/3 innings. He’s currently in line for a start against the Rangers in Anaheim on Monday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:02 pm
    • Robert Suarez works four-out save against Rangers
Robert Suarez shut the Rangers down with two strikeouts across 1 1/3 innings to earn the save on Wednesday.

Advice: Suarez’s magnificent season continued in this one as he eviscerated the Rangers with his blazing fastball and changeup. This was by far the most he’s used his changeup in a single outing at 43% and it seemed to surprise the Rangers. It was a nice wrinkle as Suarez has thrown his four-seam fastball almost 80% of the time so far this season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:56 pm
    • Grabs 21st save
Iglesias allowed a hit and struck out one over one scoreless inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 3-1 win over the Giants.

Advice: Iglesias' last two outings were in non-save situations. He's on a five-inning scoreless streak and has given up just two runs across 10.1 innings since the start of June. For the season, the closer has a 2.27 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 28:7 K:BB through 31.2 innings while converting 21 of 23 save opportunities. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:56 pm
    • Jon Gray chased in fifth inning
Jon Gray allowed three earned runs in four-plus innings on Wednesday against the Padres. He struck out two and walked two.

Advice: Gray labored in this one. He didn’t record a single 1-2-3 inning and was yanked after allowing the first two batters to reach in the fifth. He was much better earlier this season when he was throwing enough curveballs and changeups to keep hitters honest. He threw just seven total in this game and they couldn’t supplement his fastball and slider. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:54 pm

    • Adam Mazur inefficient against Rangers
Adam Mazur allowed four runs on seven hits in four innings of work on Wednesday against the Rangers. He struck out four without walking a batter.

Advice: Good news, this was Mazur’s first start without a walk in the major leagues. This was also the first start Mazur used his nasty slider as his primary pitch. As for the bad news, the Rangers hunted that fastball and did plenty of damage off it. While Mazur may keep getting opportunities in the Padres injury-riddled rotation, he looks a bit over-matched by major league hitters so far. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:53 pm
    • Dominant in Wednesday's win
Sale (11-3) allowed one run on three hits and two walks while striking out nine over six innings to earn the win over the Giants on Wednesday.

Advice: Sale has allowed just one run in each of his last three starts, though he was unlucky to come away with just two wins in that span. His 11 wins rank first in the National League, and Sale is tied with Kansas City's Seth Lugo for the major-league lead. Sale is now at a 2.71 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 127:19 K:BB through 99.2 innings over 16 starts this season. The southpaw's next start is projected to be on the road in Arizona.
