• Moves up to big leagues
The Royals recalled Veneziano from Triple-A Omaha on Thursday.

Advice: He'll join the Royals ahead of Thursday's series finale with the Yankees to provide the big club with a fresh arm out of the bullpen. Veneziano has made two prior relief appearances with Kansas City but has otherwise served as a swingman for Omaha this season, logging a 3.38 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 30:19 K:BB across 37.1 innings covering 17 outings (five starts) at Triple-A. • Brewers designate James Meeker for assignment
Brewers designated RHP James Meeker for assignment.

Advice: Meeker has been removed from Milwaukee’s 40-man roster to make room for top prospect Carlos Rodríguez to ascend to the majors ahead of Tuesday’s showdown against the Blue Jays. The 29-year-old righty made his big-league debut last week before being shipped back to the minors. Rotoworld Tuesday, 1:17 pm

  • DFA'd on Tuesday
Meeker was designated for assignment Tuesday.

Advice: Just four days after making his MLB debut and firing a scoreless inning against the Tigers, Meeker was removed from the Brewers' 40-man roster. The 29-year-old should clear waivers and will likely remain at Triple-A Nashville after being optioned Saturday. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 1:17 pm

  • Picks up win Sunday
Estevez (1-3) got the win over the Astros on Sunday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning and striking out a batter in the process.

Advice: Estevez was tasked with preserving a tie game, and did so without any trouble, sending the Astros hitters down in order on 12 pitches. He wound up as the winning pitcher after the Angels walked it off in the bottom of the ninth thanks to a two-run homer from Logan O'Hoppe. Estevez now has four consecutive scoreless appearances during which he's compiled three saves and a win. For the year, the 31-year-old has 10 saves to go with a 4.05 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 19:3 K:BB in 20 innings. Rotowire.com Monday, 8:43 am
  • Turns in scoreless appearance
Francis allowed three hits and one walk while striking out three over four shutout innings in a no-decision in Sunday's 6-4 extra-inning win over the Athletics.

Advice: Francis made his first start since April 7, taking over the rotation spot that previously belonged to the injured Alek Manoah (elbow). Since Francis hadn't worked more than 3.2 innings in any of his appearances in the majors or minors since early April, the Blue Jays monitored his workload carefully Sunday, but he needed just 49 pitches to record 12 outs before exiting the contest. Francis should get another start against the Guardians this upcoming weekend, but it's unclear if the Blue Jays plan to have him handle a traditional starter's workload anytime soon. Toronto could soon return Yariel Rodriguez (back) from the injured list, and the team had previously deployed Rodriguez and Francis as piggyback starters earlier in the season to limit their pitch counts with the aim of increasing both pitchers' overall effectiveness. • Tosses five shutout innings
Pallante (2-2) allowed three hits and a walk over five scoreless frames Sunday, striking out six and earning a win over the Rockies.

Advice: Pallante never found himself in too much trouble as he cruised to a win Sunday. He fired 45 of 68 pitches for strikes, including 13 whiffs. That matched his total swinging strikes generated over his previous 14 MLB innings entering Sunday's start. Since rejoining the MLB roster, Pallante has gone 2-1 with a 3.86 ERA, though all his earned runs came in one appearance. He's currently slated to make his next start on the road against the Cubs. • Carlos Estévez earns victory against Astros Sunday
Carlos Estévez picked up his first victory of the season on Sunday, working a scoreless ninth inning in a tied game against the Astros.

Advice: The 31-year-old hurler came on to work the top half of the ninth inning after the Angels had rallied to score two runs in the eighth to tie the game. Estevez retired the side in order — including a strikeout of Yainer Diaz — then became the beneficiary when the Angels walked it off in the home half of the inning. On the season, he sports a 4.05 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and a 19/3 K/BB ratio over 20 innings while recording 10 saves in 13 chances. Rotoworld Sunday, 4:54 pm
  • Andre Pallante goes five scoreless for victory
Andre Pallante worked five shutout innings Sunday in the Cardinals’ 5-1 victory over the Rockies.

Advice: Pallante allowed three hits, all of them singles, and struck out six to win for the second time in three starts since joining the rotation. He’ll probably get to keep his spot over the rehabbing Steven Matz if he remains successful, but there isn’t a lot of fantasy potential here. Rotoworld Sunday, 3:49 pm

  • Bowden Francis pitches well in spot start Sunday
Bowden Francis pitched well in a spot start against the Athletics on Sunday, allowing just three hits and a walk over four scoreless innings.

Advice: The 28-year-old right-hander struck out three batters on the afternoon. He needed just 49 pitches (31 strikes) to navigate his four frames — getting seven swings and misses and registering a CSW of 22 percent. It’s unclear if he’ll take another turn through the Jays’ rotation next weekend against the Guardians, or if he’ll head back to the bullpen after this one. Rotoworld Sunday, 3:45 pm
