• Ben Lively goes 5 2/3 frames in loss to White Sox
Ben Lively allowed three runs over 5 2/3 innings on Thursday in a loss to the White Sox.

Advice: Lively got into trouble right away as Andrew Vaughn, Paul DeJong and Tommy Pham got to him for run-scoring hits in the first two frames, which was more than enough to saddle him with a loss. He struck out two and also issued three walks. The 32-year-old journeyman has been an unexpected bright spot for Cleveland this season, registering a sparkling 2.63 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 26/9 K/BB ratio across 27 1/3 innings (five starts). He’ll face the defending World Series champion Rangers on Tuesday in his next outing. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:03 pm

  • Yordan Alvarez goes deep in win over Yankees
Yordan Alvarez went 2-for-5 with a solo homer on Thursday, powering the Astros to a 4-3 victory over the Yankees.

Advice: Alvarez kicked off the scoring in the opening frame by taking Yankees starter Marcus Stroman deep for his eighth round-tripper of the season. It was the first time he’s left the yard since a two-homer explosion back on April 27, snapping a nine-game homerless drought. The 26-year-old four-category fantasy superstar is batting .245/.325/.448 with 21 runs scored, eight homers and 19 RBI through 163 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:07 pm
  • Aaron Judge clobbers gargantuan 473-foot homer
Aaron Judge walloped a 473-foot solo homer on Thursday in the Yankees’ loss to the Astros.

Advice: Judge’s tape-measure shot to left-center field off Astros relief ace Ryan Pressly slashed New York’s deficit to just a single run in the eighth inning. The 32-year-old former AL MVP Award winner has started to heat up at the dish with three big flies in his last four contests. It’s going to take a while for his surface stats to fully recover from his frosty start, but he’s up to .236/.362/.493 with 19 runs scored, nine homers, 25 RBI and two steals through 175 plate appearances. • Anthony Volpe crushes two-run homer in loss
Anthony Volpe went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer on Thursday in the Yankees’ loss to the Astros.

Advice: Volpe connected for a two-run opposite-field shot into the right-field corner off Astros starter Ronel Blanco in the third inning. It was his fifth round-tripper of the season and second time he’s left the yard in his last three contests. The 23-year-old shortstop has made an effort to flatten his swing and employ an all-fields approach this season, but is still hitting for some over-the-fence pop, while also significantly improving his batting average. • Josh Hader notches four-out save against Yankees
Josh Hader recorded a four-out save on Thursday against the Yankees.

Advice: Hader came on to record the final out of the eighth inning before heading back out to spin a scoreless ninth inning to collect his fourth save of the season. The 30-year-old lefty has converted four of five save chances in his Astros debut so far to go along with a bloated 5.63 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 25/7 K/BB ratio across 16 innings (16 appearances). There’s zero reason for concern here moving forward as he continues to miss bats at an elite rate. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:05 pm
  • Ronel Blanco goes 5 2/3 frames to beat Yankees
Ronel Blanco allowed two runs over 5 2/3 innings on Thursday in a win over the Yankees.

Advice: Blanco generated 13 swinging strikes, and finished with five strikeouts, but also battled control issues throughout this one, handing out four free passes as well. He managed to limit New York’s formidable lineup to just a two-run homer by Anthony Volpe into the middle innings, which was enough to hang on for his fourth win of the year. He’ll carry a sparkling 2.23 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 41/20 K/BB ratio across 44 1/3 innings (seven starts) into an extremely favorable matchup on Tuesday against the Athletics. • Marcus Stroman serves up two homers in loss
Marcus Stroman was tagged for four runs over 5 2/3 innings on Thursday in a loss to the Astros.

Advice: Stroman coughed up a pair of first-inning homers and also served up a run-scoring single to Jeremy Peña in the fifth inning, which was enough to saddle him with a loss in a low-scoring affair at Yankee Stadium. He struck out five and also issued a pair of walks. He’ll bring a serviceable 3.80 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 40/22 K/BB ratio across 42 2/3 innings (eight starts) into a road matchup on Wednesday against the Twins. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:04 pm
  • Brenton Doyle swats three-run homer in rout
Brenton Doyle hit a three-run homer in a blowout win over the Rockies on Thursday.

Advice: Doyle blasted a homer off Keaton Winn with a pair of runners on to extend the Colorado lead to 6-1. The 25-year-old has shown vastly improved pop in the early portion of 2024, as he’s up to four homers and a .455 slugging percentage. It’s probably not sustainable — and the numbers have already dropped after a red-hot April — but it’s nice to see offensive progress from a player who was not an effective hitter whatsoever in 2024, even while playing in some of the friendliest confines for half of his games. • Conforto hits solo homer in loss to Rockies
Michael Conforto homered while going 2-for-3 in a blowout loss to the Rockies on Thursday.

Advice: Conforto also drew a walk, so a nice day for him on a day where the rest of the Giants were not very good. The 31-year-old connected on a solo homer off Cal Quantrill and now has seven homers and 20 RBI in the first month-plus of the 2024 campaign. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:32 pm
