• Strikes out 11 on Friday
King allowed two hits and three walks while striking out 11 over seven scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Dodgers on Friday.

Advice: King put four runners on base but also racked up eight strikeouts over his first three innings. He ended up missing out on the win after Yuki Matsui allowed the game-tying run in the eighth inning. King was unsteady late in April, but he's opened May with 13 scoreless innings. The right-hander is at a 3.67 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 54:24 K:BB through 49 innings over nine appearances (eight starts) this season. King is penciled in for a more favorable home matchup versus the Rockies his next time out. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:34 pm

  • Picks up 12th save
Holmes earned the save in Friday's 2-0 win over the Rays, working around a hit and two walks while striking out three in a scoreless ninth inning.

Advice: The Rays loaded the bases against Holmes in the ninth before the right-hander struck out Jonny DeLuca for the final out. Holmes has yet to allow an earned run this year, pitching to a 1.04 WHIP with 21:3 K:BB over 17.1 innings. He's up to 12 saves, tied with Kyle Finnegan and Robert Suarez for the league lead. • Collects second save
Beeks picked up the save Friday against Texas. He pitched a clean inning without a strikeout.

Advice: Beeks only required nine total pitches to retire the bottom of the Rangers order for his second save. Justin Lawrence, the typical Rockies closer, was used in a high-leverage seventh inning against the top of the order, opening the save opportunity for Beeks. However, the left-handed Beeks may be the second choice for saves in Colorado as he's been dependable, tossing a 2.45 ERA with 14:8 K:BB over 18.1 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:24 pm

  • John Schreiber locks down save against Angels
John Schreiber worked a scoreless ninth to pick up a save Friday against the Angels.

Advice: Schreiber has his first save of the season, first as a member of the Royals and just the ninth of his MLB career. The right-hander has been outstanding in 2024, however, with an ERA now of 0.98 as evidence. There absolutely could be more save chances for Schreiber as the season progresses, but it’s far from a guarantee. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:18 pm
  • Carlos Estévez blows save, takes loss vs. Royals
Carlos Estévez allowed two runs in an inning of work while blowing a save Friday against the Royals and also picking up a loss.

Advice: This is already the third blown save of the season for the right-hander. He gave up a two-run homer to Adam Frazier of all people, and that turned a 1-0 lead for the Angels into a 2-1 score and ultimately a loss. Estévez is going to get the overwhelming majority of save chances for the Angels, but he’s a middling option at best with just so-so results and a very bad baseball team to give him those chances. • Alec Marsh holds Angels to one run with seven Ks
Alec Marsh struck out seven while allowing just one run over 5 1/3 innings against the Angels on Friday while not factoring in the decision.

Advice: Marsh’s only run allowed came on a Jo Adell solo blast in the fifth. Unfortunately, that was the only run scored while either he or Griffin Canning was in the game, so no win for the 25-year-old in his return from the injured list. This was far from the toughest lineup that Marsh will face, but he did look solid while pitching into the sixth inning and throwing 85 pitches. He’ll get back on the mound in Seattle against the Mariners on Wednesday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:18 pm

  • Lasts 4.1 innings vs. Pittsburgh
Assad didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Pirates, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out four.

Advice: After the Pirates scored twice in the first inning, Assad delivered 3.1 scoreless frames before he was ultimately pulled in the fifth inning. The 26-year-old Assad hasn't allowed more than one earned run in five straight starts -- he's 3-0 with a 1.70 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 35:14 K:BB across 42.1 innings this season. The Mexican-born right-hander is currently slated for a road matchup with Atlanta in his next outing. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:04 pm

  • Michael King allows two hits, whiffs 11 vs. LAD
Michael King struck out 11 over seven scoreless innings against the Dodgers on Friday.

Advice: Sensational. King was excellent against the Diamondbacks on Saturday, but this was a different level for the 28-year-old. He did walk three, but he threw 74-of-106 pitches for strikes and was able to get the punchout if there was even a sniff of trouble. The right-hander now has a 3.67 ERA and 54/24 K/BB, and he’s shown why the Padres were adamant about acquiring his services in the Juan Soto trade. Sadly, King doesn’t get a win because his bullpen blew a 1-0 lead after he left. He should keep the good run going against the Rockies at home next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:58 pm

  • Notches second save
Leasure threw 1.1 shutout innings and earned a save against Cleveland on Friday.

Advice: Leasure fired 12 of 16 pitches for strikes to quickly finish off the 6-3 victory. He's converted two of his three save chances this season, with both conversions coming in his last six appearances. Leasure lowered his ERA to 2.20 with an 11:6 K:BB through 16.1 innings. Michael Kopech was seemingly unavailable after pitching Wednesday and Thursday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:43 pm
