    • Skubal strikes out seven in loss to Twins
Tarik Skubal allowed three earned runs and four hits over six innings while striking out seven in Tuesday’s loss to the Twins.

Advice: Skubal pitched two scoreless innings to start the game but ran into trouble in the third inning. After striking out Willi Castro to start the frame, Skubal allowed back-to-back singles to Kyle Farmer and Manuel Margot before Royce Lewis eventually doubled to bring both runners around to score. He would later give up a solo homer to Margot in the fifth inning but returned to pitch a scoreless sixth before being pulled for Will Vest. Skubal has allowed seven earned runs over his last 17 innings pitched while posting a 21:4 K:BB ratio. The lefty didn’t get saddled with the loss in this one and will look to pick up his 10th win of the season on Sunday against the Reds. Rotoworld 27 minutes ago

    • Kyle Harrison (ankle) throwing bullpen on Tuesday
Kyle Harrison (ankle) will throw a bullpen session on Tuesday.

Advice: Harrison isn’t expected to require a minor league rehab assignment before returning to San Francisco’s starting rotation mix after suffering a right ankle sprain back in mid-June. It sounds like he could be back prior to the All-Star break, but that isn’t a lock. Rotoworld Today, 2:12 pm

    • Another rehab start Saturday
Cabrera (shoulder) will make another rehab start with Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Cabrera is slated to throw 80-to-85 pitches in what will likely be his final rehab start before rejoining the Marlins' rotation. The right-hander has posted a 4.50 ERA and 15:4 K:BB over 10 innings in his first three rehab outings. Cabrera has been out since early May with a right shoulder impingement. • Rosenthal: Tanner Scott “is a popular name”
The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal said “Tanner Scott is a popular name on the trade market” and “the Marlins are virtually certain to trade” him at the deadline.

Advice: Rosenthal reported that “the Miami Marlins want a lot for their left-handed closer,” but they do expect to get it; however, it’s expected that Scott will not take over a closer’s role if he were traded to a contender. His strikeout-to-walk rate is at a career-low level and that command may keep him in a high-leverage shared role, facing mainly left-handed hitters. Rosenthal mentioned the Yankees, Orioles, and Phillies as contending teams that are expressing interest in adding Scott to their bullpen mix. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:05 am

    • Locks down save Sunday
Duran picked up the save in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Mariners, pitching a perfect ninth while striking out a batter in the process.

Advice: Duran capped off the month with his 12th save in 13 tries this season and turned in a scoreless outing for the 10th time in 12 June appearances. The hard-throwing righty owns a solid 3.51 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 23:8 K:BB in 25.2 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:37 am

    • Jhoan Duran silences Mariners to net 12th save
Jhoan Duran fired a perfect ninth inning on Sunday against the Mariners to collect his 12th save of the season.

Advice: Duran turned in a scoreless outing for the 10th time in 12 appearances since the start of June as he needed just 19 pitches (13 strikes) to slam the door in this one. The hard-throwing 26-year-old righty has converted 12 of his 13 save opportunities this season to accompany a solid 3.51 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 23/8 K/BB ratio across 25 2/3 innings (27 appearances). • Chased early in no-decision
Glasnow did not factor into the decision against the Giants on Saturday, allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks over three innings while striking out one.

Advice: Glasnow didn't have his best stuff Saturday, allowing the leadoff man to reach in each of his three innings of work while surrendering four extra-base hits. It marked the right-hander's shortest outing of the campaign and the second time in his last four starts that he's given up five runs. Glasnow also struck out only one batter in the contest, a season low, after fanning at least nine in four straight starts coming in. Rotowire.com Sunday, 6:03 am
    • Logs quality start in no-decision
Steele allowed three runs on seven hits and no walks while striking out five batters over six innings in a no-decision against Milwaukee on Saturday.

Advice: Steele gave up a pair of runs in the third inning and another in the fourth but finished his outing by retiring seven straight batters. The southpaw stuck around just long enough to notch his fifth straight quality start, though this was his least impressive appearance during that span. Over the five-game stretch, Steele has posted a 2.18 ERA and 34:5 K:BB over 33 innings, but he doesn't have a win to show for that success. Rotowire.com Saturday, 9:32 pm

    • Notches 12th save
Scott struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Saturday to record his 12th save of the season in a 3-2 win over the Phillies.

Advice: The southpaw delivered his eighth straight scoreless appearance on 12 pitches (eight strikes), and Scott has racked up four saves in four trips to the mound over the last week. The 29-year-old closer has put his shaky start to 2024 firmly behind him, and he sports a 1.50 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 38:23 K:BB through 36 innings while converting 12 of 14 save chances.
