    • Nolan Arenado out of lineup Tuesday vs. Marlins
Nolan Arenado is not in the starting lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Cardinals.

Advice: Arenado has not been at his best lately, and after going 0-for-6 in Monday’s extra-innings win over the Marlins, the Cardinals will give their third baseman a day off. Brandon Crawford is getting his first ever start at third base while Arenado rests. Rotoworld 42 minutes ago

    • Taking seat Tuesday
Arenado is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game in Miami.

Advice: Arenado went 0-for-6 in Monday's extra-innings win over the Marlins and is just 3-for-20 over his last five games, so he's being given a day off to regroup. Brandon Crawford is making his first career start at third base. Rotowire.com 55 minutes ago

    • Logs 13th save Monday
Estevez earned a save against the Brewers on Monday, striking out one batter in a perfect ninth inning.

Advice: Estevez had little trouble protecting a two-run, ninth-inning lead, retiring the side in order on 13 pitches. The veteran reliever has turned things around after a rough middle portion of May -- he hasn't allowed a baserunner in seven straight outings, racking up six saves and a win during that span. As such, his hold on the Angels' closer role is, for now at least, very secure. Rotowire.com Today, 12:09 am
    • Racks up three hits from atop order
Ohtani went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two runs, an RBI, a stolen base and a walk Monday in a 9-5 victory versus the Rockies.

Advice: With Mookie Betts (hand) set to miss several weeks, Ohtani could see most of his work out of the leadoff spot -- he's now slotted in there for both games that Betts has missed so far this season. Ohtani certainly possesses qualities of a leadoff man with a .314 average, .388 OBP and 16 thefts on the campaign, though his power far exceeds what is usually expected from a batter in that role. Ohtani could lose some RBI opportunities with Betts not hitting ahead of him for the foreseeable future, but the Japanese superstar is more than capable of knocking himself in and should continue to get opportunities to score with Will Smith and Freddie Freeman batting behind him. • Quiets Colorado at Coors Field
Paxton (7-1) earned the win over the Rockies on Monday, allowing one run on two hits and one walk while striking out eight batters over seven innings.

Advice: Paxton gave up a second-inning solo homer but otherwise dominated Colorado hitters, holding them to just one additional hit. The veteran hurler completed seven innings for the first time this season and notched his second consecutive quality start. Paxton also tallied a season-high eight punchouts -- three more than his previous top mark in 2024 -- and walked just one batter. There was some uncertainty about Paxton's role after two recent poor starts given that Bobby Miller (shoulder) is set to return this week, but with back-to-back strong outings and with Yoshinobu Yamamoto (shoulder) set to miss several weeks of action, Paxton's place in the rotation looks to be secure. • Carlos Estévez perfect in seventh straight outing
Carlos Estévez threw a scoreless ninth with a two-run lead for a save Monday against the Brewers.

Advice: It was Estévez’s seventh consecutive perfect inning, a stretch that’s lowered his ERA from 5.06 to 3.52. He still doesn’t seem like a great bet going forward, but he certainly has it working now. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:01 pm
    • Smacks 12th home run
De La Cruz went 1-for-5 with a three-run homer in Monday's 7-6 extra-innings loss versus the Cardinals.

Advice: The 27-year-old's only hit in this game was a big one, as he tied the score at 4-4 with a three-run blast off JoJo Romero in the eighth inning. De La Cruz is already up to 12 homers in 2024 after he totaled 19 long balls in 153 games last year. The power production helps offset De La Cruz's underwhelming .242/.295/.416 slash line. • James Paxton goes seven strong to win at Coors
James Paxton limited the Rockies to one run and two hits in seven innings to win at Coors Field on Monday.

Advice: It’s difficult to predict Paxton’s performances this season. He looked done 10 days ago after giving up seven runs and getting pulled in the second versus the Pirates, but he’s since bounced back by allowing two runs and four hits in 13 innings in his last two starts. The Yoshinobu Yamamoto injury took the idea of stashing Paxton on the IL off the board for the Dodgers. He still doesn’t seem like a great bet at this point, but he is a streaming option while pitching for one of baseball’s best teams. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:08 pm

    • Knocks four hits
Lindor went 4-for-4 with a double, two RBI and three runs scored in Monday's win over Texas.

Advice: Lindor wasted no time making an impact Monday; through two innings, he was 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored. He singled and scored again in the fourth inning before capping off his big day with an RBI double in the fifth. It was Lindor's third four-hit game of the year and first since May 30. Over his last 24 games, he's gone 33-for-98 (.337) with 15 extra-base hits and 18 runs scored. His season slash line is up to .242/.313/.432 through 319 plate appearances.
