    • Managing inflammation
Rangers GM Chris Young said Tuesday that Jung (wrist) is dealing with tendon inflammation and classified a potential return on the current road trip, which runs through Sunday in Baltimore, as "ambitious," Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning Newsreports.

Advice: The 26-year-old was shut down for the weekend after experiencing residual soreness in his surgically repaired right wrist, and he returned to Texas to be evaluated further Tuesday. Young indicated the expectation is that Jung's inflammation could subside within a few days, so the third baseman's return from the injured list may not be pushed back signficantly. • Returning to Texas for evaluation
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said Tuesday that Jung (wrist) returned to Texas to be evaluated and "make sure everything's fine," Kennedi Landry of MLB.comreports.

Advice: The 26-year-old was shut down over the weekend after experiencing residual soreness in his surgically repaired right wrist, and he apparently wasn't able to resume taking live batting practice Monday as hoped. Bochy didn't rule out a return before the end of the current road trip that wraps up this weekend in Baltimore, but for now, Jung's immediate outlook is up in the air as he gets checked out. • Josh Jung (wrist) undergoing further evaluation
Rangers general manager Chris Young told reporters Josh Jung is dealing with tendon inflammation in his surgically-repaired right wrist.

Advice: Not great. Rangers manager Bruce Bochy told reporters Jung didn’t take batting practice on Tuesday and declined to offer an updated timetable. The hope was that the 26-year-old third baseman would be ready to return at some point this week, but he’s headed back to Texas to undergo further testing after experiencing soreness last week in his surgically-repaired wrist. There should be an additional update on his status at some point later this week. Rotoworld Today, 3:15 pm

    • On bench Tuesday
Mullins isn't starting Tuesday's game against Cleveland, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Mullins will dodge a matchup with southpaw Logan Allen on Tuesday, with Colton Cowser taking over in center field. Mullins is slashing .204/.249/.351 with 16 stolen bases across 71 games. Rotowire.com Today, 11:39 am

    • Stumbles but secures save
Helsley allowed two runs on two hits and two walks in the ninth inning Monday, striking out two and earning a save against Atlanta.

Advice: Helsley loaded the bases with just one out but managed to escape with a save in the 4-3 win. It was the second time this month he's allowed multiple runs in an appearance, and the third time in his last 13 outings. Despite the recent shakiness, Helsley has converted 27 consecutive save chances since blowing his first opportunity of the year. He owns a 2.83 ERA and a 42:15 K:BB through 35 innings. • Goes deep in loss
Garcia went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Monday's loss to the Brewers.

Advice: Garcia gave the Rangers a 3-1 lead with his sixth-inning blast, though the advantage was wiped out on a Rhys Hoskins grand slam in the bottom of the frame. As with Hoskins, Garcia's homer ended an extended power drought -- the outfielder hadn't gone deep in any of his past 17 games and had driven in just one run during that span. Garcia is tied for the Rangers' lead with 14 long balls on the season, but he's below pace to match the 39 homers and 107 RBI he racked up last year. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:51 pm

    • Runs up pitch count in no-decision
Peralta allowed two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out six batters over five innings in a no-decision against Texas on Monday.

Advice: Peralta pitched pretty well in the outing, but he could go only five frames as a result of throwing 104 pitches. That's been a theme for the right-hander of late, as he's completed six innings in only one of his past six starts despite allowing three or fewer earned runs in five of those outings. Peralta's 4.03 ERA and 1.17 WHIP on the campaign are on pace for his worst marks since 2019, though he's been able to rack up 112 strikeouts (fifth-most in the majors) over 87 innings. • Fernando Tatis Jr. (femur) out until second half
Fernando Tatis Jr. expects to be sidelined until after the All-Star break because of his right femoral stress reaction.

Advice: And not just until immediately after the All-Star break, either; this will likely be at least a six-week injury for Tatis. Bryce Johnson will fill in for now, but the Padres need to go get themselves an extra outfielder as soon as possible. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:27 pm

    • Freddy Peralta strikes out six against Rangers
Freddy Peralta allowed two runs over five innings and struck out six versus the Rangers on Monday.

Advice: Peralta got 15 whiffs tonight, but he ran up a pitch count of 104 in five innings, preventing him from working any deeper into the game. He’s finished six innings just once in his last six starts, which is a real problem given that he’s supposed to be the ace of a rotation that’s quite shorthanded at the moment.
