• Jack Flaherty returns with six strong innings
Jack Flaherty allowed just two hits and one run while firing six innings to get a win over the Guardians on Thursday in a 10-1 victory for the Tigers.

Advice: Flaherty did issue two walks, but he struck out four in a very impressive outing for the 28-year-old. It was even more impressive when you remember that Flaherty was dealing with back stiffness, but that wasn’t readily apparent at all while the right-hander lowered his ERA to a strong 3.13 for the first-half of the season. Flaherty has been a real find for the Tigers, the question now is if he stays a member of the organization past July. Rotoworld Thursday, 12:33 pm

  • Falls to Cubs
Burnes (9-4) took the loss Wednesday against the Cubs, allowing three runs on nine hits over six innings. He struck out five.

Advice: It's just the second loss for Burnes in his last 11 outings -- still, the right-hander was able to make it through at least six innings for a 14th straight start despite allowing nine hits, matching a season high. Overall, Burnes has lived up to expectations in his first year in Baltimore. He'll head into the All-Star break with a 2.43 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 110:25 K:BB across 118.2 innings. • Fans eight in sixth win
Sears (6-7) picked up the win Wednesday, allowing one run on four hits and two walks over 5.2 innings in a 5-2 victory over the Red Sox. He struck out eight.

Advice: The southpaw fell one out short of his seventh quality start of the season, getting lifted after a season-high 114 pitches (70 strikes), but it was still an impressive showing from Sears. Since getting rocked for 12 runs and four homers in 5.2 innings over back-to-back starts against the Twins in June, he's delivered a stingy 2.16 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 20:4 K:BB in his last three trips to the mound. Sears will now get an extended rest, as he's not in line to pitch again until after the All-Star break. Rotowire.com Thursday, 6:54 am

  • Falls to Philly
Stone (9-3) took the loss Wednesday, giving up four runs on nine hits over 4.2 innings as the Dodgers were downed 4-3 by the Phillies. He struck out three.

Advice: Kyle Schwarber drove Stone's third pitch of the game over the fence in left field, and the right-hander never seemed to regain his focus, leaving the mound after 77 pitches (52 strikes). Since firing a shutout against the White Sox on June 26, Stone has been tagged for eight runs over 7.2 innings in his last two outings. Despite the stumbles, he sports a 3.26 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 76:28 K:BB through 96.2 innings on the year. He'll get a chance to regroup, as he's not scheduled to make another start until after the All-Star break. Rotowire.com Thursday, 6:17 am

  • Stuck with tough loss
Eflin (5-6) took the loss Wednesday, giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits and a walk over seven innings as the Rays fell 2-1 to the Yankees. He struck out six.

Advice: The right-hander put together one of his better performances of the season, but a lack of run support forced Eflin to settle for his sixth quality start of the year rather than a win. His control remains impeccable -- Eflin has walked one batter or fewer in 11 straight outings, posting a 3.94 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 48:5 K:BB through 64 innings over that stretch. He'll enjoy a breather as he doesn't line up to make another start ahead of the All-Star break. Rotowire.com Thursday, 6:00 am

  • No match for Brewers
Perez (1-5) allowed five runs on nine hits and three walks while striking out five over 4.2 innings to take the loss Wednesday versus the Brewers.

Advice: Perez gave up two runs in the first inning, and his start was punctuated by a Rhys Hoskins solo home run in the fifth. Consistency has been an issue for Perez since he returned from a groin injury -- he's given up 12 runs over 16 innings since his return, though he's allowed just two homers over three starts in that span. The veteran southpaw is at a 5.15 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 57:25 K:BB through 73.1 innings over 14 starts this season. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:59 pm

  • Nabs win Wednesday in Game 2
Wacha (6-6) earned the win over the Cardinals in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits and one walk while striking out three batters over five innings.

Advice: It wasn't a smooth outing for Wacha, as he tossed only one 1-2-3 inning and needed 84 pitches to get through five frames. Kansas City's offense gave him ample support, but the right-hander nearly lost his chance at a victory when he gave up two runs in the bottom of the fifth to allow St. Louis to close the gap to 5-4. The three earned runs were the most Wacha has allowed since May 4 -- over his previous eight starts, he had posted a 2.31 ERA and 1.03 WHIP across 46.2 frames. Wacha's overall 3.83 ERA puts him on pace to log a third straight season with a sub-4.00 earned run average. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 8:41 pm

  • Martín Pérez allows five runs in loss to Brewers
Martín Pérez allowed five runs with five strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings in a loss against the Brewers on Wednesday.

Advice: Pérez recorded two quick outs in the first inning, then gave up two runs on two base hits and a double. He tossed two scoreless innings before the Brewers brought two more runs in to score in the fourth on a double by William Contreras. Rhys Hoskins took Pérez deep for a solo homer with two outs in the fifth, and that would be it for him. The 33-year-old left-hander ends the day with a 5.15 ERA, 1.62 WHIP, and a 57/25 K/BB ratio across 73 1/3 innings going into the All-Star break. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:45 pm

  • JP Sears strikes out eight in win over Red Sox
JP Sears struck out eight and allowed one run over 5 2/3 innings on Wednesday in a win over the Red Sox.

Advice: Sears was in complete control on Wednesday night at historic Fenway Park against a red-hot Boston lineup, allowing just four baserunners and carrying a shutout into the sixth inning before giving up a leadoff homer to lefty-masher Rob Refsnyder. He was lifted later in the frame following a two-out single by Connor Wong. The 28-year-old southpaw generated an impressive 20 swinging strikes, with half of those coming on his four-seam fastball, and finished with a respectable 32 percent CSW. He’s allowed three earned runs or fewer in three consecutive outings since June 28 and will bring a pedestrian 4.56 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 76/32 K/BB ratio across 100 2/3 innings (19 starts) into the All-Star break.
