    • Doval picks up 15th save in win over Braves
      Camilo Doval pitched a perfect ninth inning while striking out two in Tuesday’s win over the Braves.

      Advice: Doval now has 14 saves on the season and has allowed just one run since his four-run implosion against the Angels back in mid-June.     • Struggles continue Monday
      Harvey (2-4) took the loss Monday against the Mets, surrendering five runs (four earned) on three hits over two-thirds of an inning as the Nationals fell 9-7 in 10 innings.

      Advice: The final frame was a disaster for Harvey and the Nats -- after the right-hander hit Harrison Bader with a pitch, J.D. Martinez crushed a splitter over the heart of the plate for a three-run shot before extra-base hits by Tyrone Taylor and Francisco Alvarez chased Harvey from the game. The normally reliable set-up man has been tagged for eight earned runs in his last four appearances, and his ERA has more than doubled over the last month, going from 2.08 after an appearance June 2 to 4.24 following Monday's outing.     • Hunter Harvey gives up five runs in relief loss
      Hunter Harvey allowed five runs — four earned —in the top of the 10th to take a loss to the Mets on Monday.

      Advice: It’s the third time in a month that Harvey has allowed at least three runs, and his ERA has doubled from 2.08 on June 2 to 4.24 now. Apart from these three really bad outings, he’s done just fine. Still, we’re not sure he makes much sense on mixed-league rosters at this point; maybe there’s a chance the Nationals will trade Kyle Finnegan and make Harvey their closer, but it seems quite a bit more likely that they’ll keep both or trade both.     • Another shaky outing Sunday
      Irvin (6-5) took the loss against the Rangers on Sunday, allowing five runs on five hits and two walks while striking out two over 3.2 innings.

      Advice: Irvin served up a two-run blast to Derek Hill in the second and was chased out of the game in the fourth after surrendering a triple, three singles and a walk, leading to three more runs for the Rangers. He's now failed to cover at least five innings in three straight starts and has given up 14 runs over that span while compiling just a 5:4 K:BB in his last 12.1 innings pitched. Irvin now owns a 4.13 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 56:17 K:BB in 80.2 innings this season. He's lined up for a start against the Athletics this weekend, though it's worth monitoring what manager Brandon Hyde decides to do with his rotation spot following his recent struggles with Dean Kremer (triceps) on the cusp of returning from a rehab assignment.       Cole Irvin lasted just 3 2/3 innings and gave up five runs in a loss to the Rangers on Sunday.

      Advice: Irvin seemed safe from being threatened by Dean Kramer’s return, but with three poor outings in a row taking his ERA from 3.03 to 4.17, a demotion to the pen is realistic.     • Paul Sewald lowers ERA to 0.54 on Sunday
      Paul Sewald struck out two in a perfect ninth inning on Sunday against the Athletics.

      Advice: It was a non-save situation, with Arizona leading by four runs entering the final frame, but Sewald remained locked-in nonetheless, needing just 13 pitches (11 strikes) to end the game. The 34-year-old righty has reeled off 17 consecutive scoreless appearances since giving up one run back on May 7 in his season debut. He’s converted all 11 of his save chances this season and boasts a microscopic 0.54 ERA, 0.48 WHIP and 15/3 K/BB ratio across 16 2/3 innings (18 appearances).       Sewald struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Athletics.

      Advice: Sewald has picked up saves in four straight appearances and in seven of his 10 outings in June. The closer has been virtually untouchable this month, allowing two hits, two walks and two hit batsmen while striking out six over 8.2 innings.       Doval (3-1) allowed a run on one hit and struck out one over over inning, blowing a save but earning the win Friday over the Dodgers.

      Advice: Doval allowed a triple to Andy Pages, who came home on a Jason Heyward sacrifice fly that tied the game at 3-3 in the ninth inning. The Giants then got a walk-off home run from Brett Wisely to make Doval the pitcher of record despite his poor outing. He's given up nine runs over nine innings in June, though a pair of four-run meltdowns account for much of that damage.
