    • Garcia hits RBI triple in win over Guardians
Maikel Garcia went 1-for-4 with a run scored, a triple, and an RBI against the Guardians on Thursday.

Advice: Garcia tied the game at one with an RBI triple in the sixth inning and came around to score on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Vinnie Pasquantino. Those were the only runs the Royals scored on the night, but it was enough to squeak out a 2-1 victory. Garcia needs to have more of an impact if he’s going to retain his spot atop the Kansas City lineup for the rest of the season. He’s hitting .232 with a .629 OPS on the season. • Nabs second steal
Donovan went 2-for-4 with one RBI and one stolen base in a 4-1 win over Atlanta in Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader.

Advice: Donovan's eight-game hitting streak ended in the matinee with an 0-for-2 effort, but he bounced back in the nightcap, which was his eighth multi-hit effort in June. The 27-year-old also picked up his second steal of the campaign on his fifth attempt. Donovan is at a .270/.337/.419 slash line with eight home runs, 40 RBI and 35 runs scored across 74 contests. He's seen a majority of his playing time in left field but has also featured at second base, third base, right field and designated hitter as he continues to show some utility skills. • Maikel Garcia goes 0-for-4 out of leadoff spot
Maikel Garcia went 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts on Wednesday in the Royals’ win over the Marlins.

Advice: Yikes. Garcia’s latest hitless effort leaves him with a .174 (21-for-121) batting average with zero homers and six steals over his last 30 games. It’s fair to wonder how much longer Kansas City can afford to stick with him anywhere near the top of their lineup moving forward. Rotoworld Wednesday, 2:24 pm

    • Nabs two bags in loss
Garcia went 0-for-2 with two steals, two walks and one run scored in Tuesday's loss to the Marlins.

Advice: Garcia drew a second consecutive start at the keystone and stole two bases in the first inning after leading off with a walk. The 24-year-old has struggled mightily in June, as he entered the contest slashing .145/.211/.169 with no homers and four steals across 90 plate appearances. The Kansas City infield became more crowded with CJ Alexander debuting and Michael Massey (back) returning from the injured list Monday (though Massey will serve as DH for now), so Garcia will have to start producing at the plate and on the basepaths to maintain a starting role. • Racks up three hits in win
Donovan went 3-for-4 with one RBI in Monday's 4-3 win over Atlanta.

Advice: Donovan has been dialed in for much of June. He's hit safely in 17 of his last 18 games, going 26-for-71 (.366) with seven extra-base hits and 14 RBI in that span. The 27-year-old is up to a .269/.333/.420 slash line with eight home runs, 39 RBI, 35 runs scored, 17 doubles, one triple and one stolen base over 72 contests. While he's mostly lost out on leadoff opportunities to Masyn Winn, Donovan is still hitting well deeper in the lineup. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 9:51 am

    • Donovan stays hot with three-hit game Monday
Brendan Donovan went 3-for-4 with an RBI against the Braves on Monday.

Advice: Donovan’s RBI single in the third inning off Braves starter Spencer Schwellenbach gave the Cardinals a 3-0 lead. He now has a hit in eight consecutive games and 17 of his last 18 games. Donovan is 26-for-71 (.366) with four home runs and 14 RBI in his last 18 games. His season average is up to .269 with a .753 OPS and 39 RBI. Rotoworld Monday, 7:30 pm

    • Maikel Garcia leads off, shifts to second base
Maikel Garcia is back in the leadoff spot and playing second base for the Royals on Monday.

Advice: It’s the first time Garcia has played anywhere other third this year, but the Royals just called up a third baseman in CJ Alexander and have Michael Massey apparently limited to DH at the moment. As a result, Garcia will get to show his versatility. The return to the leadoff spot is also good news; he had led off throughout the season before being dropped to seventh on Saturday and eighth on Sunday. Considering that he has a .291 OBP, there’s no blaming the Royals for making the switch. Still, he remains a better bet than the alternative options to bat ahead of Bobby Witt Jr. Rotoworld Monday, 2:07 pm

    • Loses hold of leadoff gig
Garcia went 1-for-3 with a base hit in Sunday's 4-0 loss to the Rangers.

Advice: Garcia had made each of his first 74 starts of the season as the Royals' leadoff hitter, but he was dropped down to seventh and eighth in the batting order over the final two games of the weekend in Texas. His slide down the lineup comes while he's mustered a .152/.221/.177 slash line over 20 games thus far in June. The Royals haven't yet settled on a replacement for Garcia atop the lineup, as both Adam Frazier (thumb) and Nick Loftin received turns in the leadoff spot to close out the weekend. • Homers again in win
Donovan went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in a 9-4 win over the Giants on Saturday.

Advice: Donovan singled in the fifth inning and hit a solo home run off Giants reliever Luke Jackson in the seventh. Donovan is on fire, homering for the third time in four games and recording his third straight multi-hit effort. He has hit safely in 15 of 18 June contests with four long balls and 12 RBI. On the season, the 27-year-old is hitting .262 with eight home runs, 37 RBI and 34 runs scored in 275 at-bats. Rotowire.com Saturday, 7:18 pm
