    • Next start set for Tuesday
Crawford's next start will come on Tuesday in Miami after his last outing was suspended by rain, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: Crawford threw only 23 pitches over 1.1 scoreless innings Wednesday against the Blue Jays before inclement weather forced any early end to his night. Despite the righty's limited workload in that outing, the Red Sox have elected to give Crawford five days of rest before his next start. He's tentatively lined up for two starts next week, as a date with the Yankees looms next weekend. Rotowire.com Today, 1:59 pm

    • Blue Jays and Red Sox suspended due to rain
Wednesday’s game between the Blue Jays and Red Sox in Boston was suspended due to rain.

Advice: There hadn’t been any rain in the forecast, but a storm popped up early in the second inning and washed out any chances of the two sides getting this game in. The game will resume on August 26 in the top half of the second inning, with the Blue Jays having a runner at first base with one out. Unfortunately for this week, both Kutter Crawford and Yariel Rodriguez won’t be able to deliver anything for fantasy managers. Rotoworld Wednesday, 6:00 pm

    • Collects save
Jax struck out two and allowed one hit in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Sunday's 3-0 win over the Athletics.

Advice: The Twins haven't had much need for their bullpen this weekend, as Bailey Ober tossed a complete game Saturday and Pablo Lopez went eight innings Sunday. Jax hadn't pitched since Thursday, so he was a little fresher than Jhoan Duran, who last pitched Friday, which likely explains manager Rocco Baldelli's decision. Jax has done well in a high-leverage role this year, posting a 2.10 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 46:8 K:BB over 34.1 innings. He's added seven saves and 12 holds, though he's likely to remain second in the hierarchy for closing duties. Rotowire.com Sunday, 7:03 pm
    • Griffin Jax closes out Athletics on Sunday
Griffin Jax registered his seventh save of the season on Sunday afternoon, working a scoreless ninth inning to protect a three-run lead against the Athletics.

Advice: It’s the second straight week that Jax has secured a save on Sunday. Jhoan Duran threw 19 pitches in a blown save against the A’s on Friday night, but neither of the two hurlers worked during Saturday’s game, so it was a bit surprising to see Jax and not Duran to close this one out. Other than posting elite ratios and nabbing the occasional save though, it’s hard to count on Jax for much more from a fantasy perspective while Duran is still the primary option in the ninth inning. • Stuck with loss in quality start
Crawford (3-7) took the loss Friday as the Red Sox fell 5-2 to the Reds, giving up five runs (three earned) on five hits -- including three home runs -- and two walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out seven.

Advice: Some defensive misadventures by Boston softened the blow to the right-hander's ERA and allowed him to escape with his third straight quality start and eighth of the season, but it's hard to ignore the issues Crawford has had of late keeping the ball in the park. He's been tagged for multiple homers in three straight outings and served up at least one in seven straight, stumbling to a 5.36 ERA over the latter stretch despite a 1.19 WHIP and 43:12 K:BB through 40.1 innings. Crawford will try to turn things around in his next start, which lines up to come at home next week against the Blue Jays. Rotowire.com Saturday, 6:46 am

    • Earns first save
Abreu allowed a hit in a scoreless inning and earned a save over Baltimore on Friday.

Advice: Abreu worked around a two-out single to close out the chaotic 14-11 victory. It was his first save of the year and he extended his scoreless streak to 8.2 innings. After allowing six runs in 5.2 innings to begin his season, Abreu has yielded just five runs in his last 32 appearances, lowering his season ERA to 2.58. Josh Hader seemingly received a routine day off after earning back-to-back saves against the White Sox on Wednesday and Thursday. Rotowire.com Saturday, 5:10 am

    • Bryan Abreu picks up first save of 2024
Bryan Abreu protected a three-run lead against the Astros for his first save Friday.

Advice: Josh Hader, Ryan Pressly and Abreu all worked the previous two days, but the youngest of the trio was the only one available tonight, apparently. Abreu got the job done and finally picked up his first save in the process. He leads the AL with 38 appearances this season, and his ERA is down to 2.58 after a rough start. Still. because of the lack of saves, he’ll make less than a quarter of what he’s worth in arbitration again next year. Rotoworld Saturday, 12:08 am

    • Kutter Crawford gives up three homers in loss
Kutter Crawford surrendered five runs — three earned — in 6 1/3 innings Friday in a loss to the Reds.

Advice: Crawford surrendered three homers tonight, bringing his total allowed to seven in his last three starts. He’s given up at least one in seven straight outings. Odds are that Crawford will bounce back from this, but he’s never been more than a fringy mixed-league option in a bad situation for pitchers. Rotoworld Friday, 10:40 pm
