• Throws bullpen Tuesday
Stripling (elbow) was able to complete a bullpen session before Tuesday's game against the Angels and is set to throw another Saturday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: The veteran right-hander came away feeling healthy from Tuesday's activity, and he's expected to throw 30-35 pitches in his session Saturday. Assuming that bullpen also goes off without a hitch, Stripling could be deemed ready to face hitters at some point during the subsequent week. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 8:47 am

  • Serving as opener Wednesday
Holton will serve as the Tigers' opening pitcher in Wednesday's game versus the Phillies, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Advice: With left-handed sluggers Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper in the top three of the batting order, the Phillies are targets for southpaw openers. Holton will be followed by Keider Montero, who will be called up from Triple-A Toledo and will be deployed as a bulk reliever. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 6:27 am
  • Yields one run in no-decision
Chirinos allowed one run on three hits and three walks over five innings in a no-decision against Kansas City on Tuesday. He struck out five.

Advice: Chirinos looked solid again in his second start this season, punching out five with eight whiffs in a 78-pitch performance. Considering Miami's injury woes in the rotation, the 30-year-old right-hander should remain a starter, as he's posted a 2.70 ERA with 11:3 K:BB over 10 innings so far. Chirinos currently lines up for a difficult opponent in his next outing as he draws the Phillies on the road this weekend. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 8:16 pm
  • Collects 10th save
Scott earned the save in Tuesday's 2-1 victory against Kansas City, pitching a scoreless inning while allowing one hit.

Advice: Scott worked around a single yielded to Salvador Perez and subsequent pinch-run stolen base by Dairon Blanco to secure double-digit saves for the third consecutive season. The left-handed closer has been especially stingy since May 1, producing a 0.84 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 23:10 K:BB across 21.1 innings. Scott has blown only two saves in 2024 and is firmly cemented as the closer in Miami. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 8:05 pm
  • Tanner Scott picks up 10th save vs. Royals
Tanner Scott pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save on Tuesday against the Royals.

Advice: Scott allowed a one-out single to Salvador Perez in the ninth but went on to retire the next two batters he faced. The veteran lefty now has 10 saves on the season and lowered his ERA to 1.59 on the season. Scott has converted on 10 of his 12 save opportunities, but saves have been hard to come by for the 28-win Marlins. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:52 pm
  • Chirinos allows one earned run in win over Royals
Yonny Chirinos allowed three hits and one earned run over five innings in Tuesday’s win over the Royals.

Advice: Chirinos kept a potent Royals lineup at bay all evening, with his lone blemish coming in the first inning on a Vinny Pasquantino RBI single. Chirinos allowed six total baserunners on the evening, with three coming via the walk, but managed to pitch himself out of a few jams with runners in scoring position. A lack of run support left him on the hook for the loss before an RBI single by Nick Gordon in the seventh tied the game at 1-1. Through two starts, Chirinos is boasting a 2.70 ERA with 11 strikeouts to just three walks. He’ll look to pick up his first win of the season in his next start, which is set for Sunday against the Phillies. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:44 pm
  • Sent back to minors
The Giants optioned Burgos to Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Burgos' contract was selected from Triple-A on Monday, and he'll now head back to Sacramento after spending just 24 hours in the big leagues. He gave up an earned run on three hits and a walk over one inning in his MLB debut. The 25-year-old southpaw has turned in a 1.64 ERA and 0.82 WHIP through 22 frames in the minors, however, so a return to San Francisco later in the year is definitely possible. Mason Black was recalled in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 3:29 pm
  • Rays designateChris Devenski for assignment
Rays designated RHP Chris Devenski for assignment.

Advice: Well, that didn’t work out. Devenski missed nearly a month with right knee tendinitis, but he was wholly ineffective when he was on the mound with a 6.75 ERA and 1.58 WHIP after giving up two runs against Seattle on Monday. The right-hander was signed a one-year, $1 million contract prior to the season, and it’s possible another team will have interest on the waiver wire or in trade in hopes that he could return to his form he showed as a member of the Astros. • Jettisoned from 40-man roster
The Rays designated Devenski for assignment Tuesday, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Advice: The move comes after Devenski was scored upon Monday versus the Mariners for the third time in as many appearances. Devenski holds a 6.75 ERA in 19 relief outings in 2024 and will likely pass through waivers unclaimed. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 10:01 am
