• Marlins outright Christian Bethancourt to Triple-A
Marlins sent C Christian Bethancourt outright to Triple-A Jacksonville.

Advice: Bethancourt went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment last week by the Marlins. The 32-year-old veteran backstop will most likely wind up electing free agency, but there’s a chance he decides to stick around as extra organizational depth. Rotoworld Thursday, 3:08 pm
  • Getting breather Thursday
Amaya is not in the lineup for Thursday's game in San Francisco.

Advice: Amaya started four of the first six games after Tomas Nido was added to the roster, but he'll yield to Nido for this one. The Cubs will be trying to avoid a four-game sweep at the hands of the Giants. Rotowire.com Thursday, 10:22 am

  • Red Sox activate Connor Wong from paternity list
Red Sox activated Connor Wong from the Paternity List.

Advice: Wong was placed on the paternity list on Monday and wound up missing two games for the Red Sox. He should be back in the starting lineup soon. Tyler Heineman was optioned back to Triple-A Worcester in a corresponding move. Rotoworld Thursday, 10:03 am

  • Returns from paternity list
The Red Sox reinstated Wong (personal) from the paternity list Thursday, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Wong missed the maximum three games while on paternity leave and will rejoin the Red Sox ahead of Friday's series opener versus the Padres. Tyler Heineman was optioned to Triple-A Worcester to clear room on the active roster for Wong, who should settle back in as Boston's No. 1 catcher while Reese McGuire serves as the backup. • Sent outright to Triple-A
The Marlins outrighted Bethancourt to Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday.

Advice: Bethancourt cleared waivers after exiting the Marlins' 40-man roster a week ago. The catcher can elect free agency if he wants, and it's not yet clear whether he'll take that option or accept the outright assignment. Rotowire.com Thursday, 6:30 am
  • IL stay to be minimal
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Wednesday the club is looking for Moreno (thumb) to return after a minimum stay on the 10-day injured list, Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports reports. He's eligible to return next Tuesday.

Advice: Moreno, who has been hitting off a tee and playing catch, will begin ramping up Thursday. That's when he'll catch a bullpen session thrown by injured ace Zac Gallen (hamstring). After that, the catcher is scheduled for a game in the Arizona Complex League over the weekend, setting up a potential return Tuesday, when the club kicks off a three-game set on the road against the Dodgers. • Racks up two homers, six RBI
Higashioka went 3-for-4 with two home runs and six RBI in Wednesday's 8-5 win against the Nationals.

Advice: Higashioka drove in all but two of San Diego's eight runs. He swatted a two-run homer to kick off the scoring in the second inning and capped his offensive outburst with a grand slam in the eighth. The grand slam was the first of Higashioka's career, while the multi-homer effort was his fifth as a big leaguer. He's hitting only .207 on the season but has otherwise provided good production with eight homers and 20 RBI in 32 games. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:11 pm
