• Justin Turner rides the pine once again Monday
Justin Turner is once again riding the pine for Monday’s series opener against the Orioles.

Advice: It appears as though Father Time may have caught up to the 39-year-old slugger, as Turner is slashing a miserable .212/.299/.341 on the season with just four homers and 20 RBI. He was even worse in the month of May — hitting a cringe-inducing .111/.210/.139 with zero homers and five RBI. Daniel Vogelbach will function as the Jays’ designated hitter on Monday and will bat cleanup against Grayson Rodriguez and the O’s. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:15 pm

  • Taking seat Monday
Turner is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles.

Advice: Turner has seen his playing time slip lately amidst his struggles, as he's now been out of the lineup for two of the previous three contests and five of the last 11 games. Daniel Vogelbach will make a third straight start at designated hitter. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:11 pm

  • Jeff McNeil sits against southpaw on Monday
Jeff McNeil is absent from the Mets’ starting lineup for Monday night’s battle against the Nationals.

Advice: It looks to be just a regular day off for McNeil with tough left-hander MacKenzie Gore toeing the slab for the Nationals. Jose Iglesias will start in his place at second base and will bat eighth for the Mets on Monday evening in Washington. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:44 am

  • Connor Norby batting ninth in MLB debut on Monday
Connor Norby will start at second base and bat ninth for the Orioles in his big league debut against the Blue Jays on Monday night.

Advice: The 23-year-old prospect will get at least a few games to show what he can do at the game’s highest level with Jorge Mateo (concussion) sidelined. He’s worth a look in deeper mixed leagues and AL-only formats for as long as he’s playing for the O’s. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:33 am
  • Moves to 7-day IL
The Orioles placed Mateo on the 7-day concussion injured list Monday.

Advice: Mateo's move to the 7-day IL comes as little surprise after he entered MLB's concussion protocol when he was removed in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Rays after being inadvertently hit the back of the helmet by teammate Cedric Mullins, who was swinging in the on-deck circle alongside him. Ramon Urias came off the bench to replace Mateo, but the Orioles could turn to rookie Connor Norby -- who was called up from Triple-A Norfolk in a corresponding move -- to step in for Mateo as their new everyday second baseman. • Officially promoted to big leagues
The Orioles selected Norby's contract from Triple-A Norfolk on Monday.

Advice: It's the first major-league promotion for Norby, who has batted .286/.374/.510 with nine home runs and seven stolen bases this season at Norfolk. Second base has been Norby's primary position in the minors, although he's seen a little more time in the outfield this season at Norfolk. With Jorge Mateo (concussion) landing on the 7-day injured list, second base is likely Norby's clearest path to playing time. Norby will man the keystone and bat ninth in Monday's series opener in Toronto. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:05 am
  • Orioles place Jorge Mateo on 7-day concussion IL
Orioles placed INF Jorge Mateo on the 7-day concussion injured list.

Advice: Mateo suffered the injury during Sunday’s game when he was hit in the head by a swing from Cedric Mullins while he was crouched near the on-deck circle. While Mateo reported feeling improvement after the game on Sunday, he’ll still have to pass through the league’s concussion protocol before he’s cleared to return. Connor Norby was promoted from Triple-A Norfolk in a corresponding move to take his place on the active roster. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:58 am

  • Orioles officially promote Connor Norby from AAA
Orioles selected the contract of INF Connor Norby from Triple-A Norfolk.

Advice: As anticipated, the 23-year-old infielder will get his first shot at the big leagues with Jorge Mateo (concussion) heading to the injured list. He was slashing an impressive .286/.374/.510 with nine homers, 36 RBI and seven swipes in 238 plate appearances at Triple-A Norfolk, but that came with a 30.7% strikeout rate. It’s possible that this could be a temporary situation while Mateo is sidelined, so fantasy managers should temper expectations. Still, Norby possesses an intriguing blend of power and speed and if he produces out of the gate he could take the job and run with it. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:56 am
  • Nabs fifth steal
Vargas went 2-for-4 with a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Sunday's win over the Guardians.

Advice: Getting another start at shortstop in place of CJ Abrams (shoulder) and batting ninth, Vargas swiped his fifth bag of the season in a productive afternoon. Abrams could be back in the lineup as soon as Monday against the Mets, bumping Vargas back to the bench, but the veteran utility player has been effective when called upon this season, slashing .288/.368/.385 through 120 plate appearances.
