    Medina didn't factor into the decision Sunday against Atlanta, allowing one unearned run two hits and two walks across 5.2 innings. He struck out six.

    Advice: Medina didn't show any signs of rust in his first big-league start since 2023, yielding just two hits to Atlanta in almost six innings of work. He threw 89 pitches and didn't seem to have any limitations after missing the first two months of the campaign due to a Grade 2 MCL sprain. The lone run scored during Medina's time on the mound came in the first when Marcell Ozuna advanced to second base on a passed ball before scoring via a Matt Olson single.   • Strikes out seven in rehab start
    Bubic (elbow) struck out seven over 3.2 scoreless innings in his rehab start Wednesday with Triple-A Omaha. He gave up one hit and one walk in the 63-pitch outing.

    Advice: Wednesday's outing marked the seventh start of Bubic's rehab assignment and his first with Omaha after stops in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League and Double-A Northwest Arkansas. Bubic's 30-day rehab window is slated to come to a close during the upcoming week, and even though he's coming off his longest and best rehab outing yet, the Royals may not have a spot available for him in the big-league rotation.     Triple-A Albuquerque reinstated Davis (shoulder) from its 7-day injured list Saturday.

    Advice: Davis started in Saturday's 10-9 win over Oklahoma City, taking a no-decision while striking out four over 2.2 innings and allowing four earned runs on five hits and one walk. The right-hander had been sidelined at Triple-A since mid-April with a right shoulder injury but was cleared to slot back into the Albuquerque rotation after making two abbreviated rehab starts in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League.   • Covers four innings in rehab start
    Williamson (shoulder) struck out two over four scoreless innings in his rehab start Sunday with Triple-A Louisville. He gave up one hit and no walks in the 49-pitch outing.

    Advice: Williamson made the fourth start of his rehab assignment Sunday and his third in a row with Louisville. The Reds have been having Williamson build up slowly as he works his way back from a left shoulder strain, which he suffered in a Cactus League game in mid-March. Williamson is eligible to return from the 60-day injured list whenever the Reds deem him ready to go, but he'll likely need to build his pitch count up to around 75 before he's available to handle a typical starter's workload. The Reds don't appear to have a spot in the rotation available for Williamson at the moment, so he could be optioned to Louisville once he's activated if the team's current five starters are all still healthy.   • Taijuan Walker struggles again in no-decision
    Taijuan Walker struggled again in a no-decision against the Cardinals on Sunday night, giving up four runs on five hits over his five innings of work.

    Advice: The 31-year-old hurler punched out five batters on the night while issuing three free passes. He couldn’t keep the ball in the yard in this one, as Walker served up two-run homers to Nolan Gorman in the opening inning and Alec Burleson in the fourth. Walker generated 11 swings and misses on 93 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 30 percent. He now holds an underwhelming 5.73 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and a 30/15 K/BB ratio over 37 2/3 innings through his first seven starts on the season.   • Goes three-plus frames in rehab start
    Wicks (forearm) worked 3.1 innings Sunday in his third rehab start for Triple-A Iowa, striking out three while giving up three runs (two earned) on two hits and two walks.

    Advice: Wicks has now covered exactly 3.1 innings in consecutive outings for Iowa, though after tossing 52 pitches Tuesday, he built up to 65 pitches (34 strikes) on Sunday. While Hicks no longer appears to be plagued by the left forearm strain that landed him on the 15-day injured list April 28, the Cubs may want to nonetheless have him reach 75 pitches in another rehab start before activating him. Once Wicks is ready to go, the Cubs will have to decide whether to send him or Ben Brown to the bullpen, or keep both pitchers in starting roles as part of a six-man rotation.   • Looks better Sunday
    Hendricks tossed three scoreless innings of relief in Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Reds. He allowed three hits and two walks, while striking out three.

    Advice: While it wasn't the cleanest outing, it was a step in the right direction for Hendricks. In his first two appearances since getting moved to the bullpen at the end of May, the veteran had allowed five earned runs across 5.2 innings. Hendricks still has an ugly 9.38 ERA overall, and his fantasy value has mostly vanished in this long-relief role, but he could push to rejoin the rotation at some point if he strings together some effective performances.     Mize did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and four walks over four innings against the Red Sox. He struck out four.

    Advice: Mize allowed solo runs in each of the first three innings, needing 82 pitches to escape four innings. It was a struggle throughout much of the outing for Mize, who allowed nine batters to reach base. After posting seven-consecutive starts of at least five innings including four quality starts, Mize has failed to finish the fifth in any of his last three starts, allowing at least nine baserunners in each.   • Quinn Priester hit hard, loses again
    Quinn Priester allowed four earned runs in 4 2/3 innings on Sunday against the Blue Jays. He struck out three and surrendered eight hits in a loss.

    Advice: Nothing Priester did fooled the Blue Jays in this one as they had 12 hard-hit balls and were on everything. Priester is yet to be effective as a major league pitcher and will need to find some way to complement his fantastic slider in order to do so. The loss was his fifth of the season without a win.
