• Taking seat
Meyers is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Athletics.

Advice: Joey Loperfido will get the call in center field while Meyers gets some rest. Meyers has had a productive May to this point, putting up an .823 OPS with a couple stolen bases. Rotowire.com 7 minutes ago

  • Cedric Mullins gets pulled for pinch-hitter
Cedric Mullins, who was dropped to ninth in Baltimore’s lineup, was lifted for a pinch-hitter after opening up 0-for-2 on Wednesday.

Advice: Mullins is 0-for-16 with eight strikeouts in his last five games and 5-for-59 with a 19/4 K/BB in his last 18 games. He was off to fine start before that, but the Orioles seem to have real concerns about the way he’s performing, given that he was just held out of the starting lineup twice against righties over the weekend. He’s down to .183/.234/.349 for the season. Rotoworld 12 minutes ago

  • Ronald Acuña Jr. not in Braves lineup on Wednesday
Ronald Acuña Jr. is not in the Braves’ starting lineup for Wednesday night’s showdown against the Cubs.

Advice: It looks to be nothing more than a routine day of rest for the 26-year-old superstar. Michael Harris II will move up to the leadoff spot in the Braves’ order while Adam Duvall will draw a rare start against a right-hander and will bat sixth against Javier Assad and the Cubs on Wednesday evening in Atlanta. • Bryan De La Cruz goes deep, Marlins edge Tigers
Bryan De La Cruz launched a two-run homer on Wednesday, leading the Marlins to a 2-0 victory over the Tigers.

Advice: De La Cruz supplied the lone runs for either side in a low-scoring Wednesday afternoon matinee at Comerica Park courtesy of a gargantuan 422-foot blast to left-center field off Tigers starter Casey Mize in the opening frame. It was his lone hit in four at-bats and his ninth round-tripper of the season. The 27-year-old corner outfielder has put together a nice breakthrough campaign so far for the struggling Marlins, batting .256 (46-for-180) with 25 runs scored, nine homers, 24 RBI and one steal through 45 contests. • Exits game with bruised knee
Santander was removed from Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays due to a bruised knee, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Santander banged up his knee when he collided with the outfield wall and then aggravated it on a double and a slide in the eighth inning before being lifted in the ninth. It doesn't sound like a big concern, and it's possible the Orioles' scheduled off day will be enough rest for Santander. Consider him day-to-day. Rotowire.com 14 minutes ago

  • Calf injury still lingering
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Wednesday that Hays is still dealing with lingering effects from his left calf injury, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Hays was just activated Monday following a three-week absence and evidently is still not feeling 100 percent. He did deliver a pinch-hit double off the bench Wednesday but was then pinch-ran for. It does not sound like Hays going back on the injured list is being considered at this time, but the lingering calf issue could affect how much playing time he sees. Rotowire.com 17 minutes ago

  • Gets first day off of season
Acuna is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Advice: Acuna is on the bench for the series finale, but his absence doesn't appear to be anything more than a much-needed maintenance day after he had started in right field in each of Atlanta's first 39 games of the season. Adam Duvall will step in as the starting right fielder in place of Acuna, who is in the midst of a cool stretch at the plate with just four hits in 31 at-bats over his last eight starts. • Anthony Santander leaves game with bruised knee
Anthony Santander was pulled from Wednesday’s contest against the Blue Jays due to a bruised knee.

Advice: Santander initially suffered the injury when he crashed into the outfield wall in the third inning on Wednesday. He then aggravated if further while sliding into second base during the eighth inning. It doesn’t sound like it’s anything that should require a trip to the injured list, but there’s a chance that the 29-year-old slugger will be held out of the lineup an extra day or two to be on the safe side. • Andrew McCutchen posts three hits in blowout loss
Andrew McCutchen went 3-for-4 with a solo homer on Wednesday in the Pirates’ lopsided defeat at the hands of the Brewers.

Advice: McCutchen was arguably the lone ray of sunshine on a brutal afternoon for Pittsburgh, tallying nearly half of their eight hits in a one-sided affair at American Family Field. The 37-year-old veteran designated hitter scored the first run of the contest on Connor Joe’s third-inning sacrifice fly before going deep in garbage time with a seventh-inning blast off Brewers reliever Jared Koening for his fifth long ball of the season.
