• Working behind plate Wednesday
Fermin will start at catcher and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Tigers.

Advice: He'll be rewarded with his third start in four games after going 4-for-7 with a walk, an RBI and two runs between his previous two turns behind the plate. The Royals will likely continue to make room for Fermin in the lineup when the team opposes left-handed pitching, but his opportunities against right-handers will likely remain more limited while top backstop Salvador Perez is healthy. • Leaves yard Tuesday
Davis went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's in over the Rockies.

Advice: Davis got the A's on the board with a solo blast off Cal Quantrill in the third inning. It was his first home run since he had two against the Guardians on March 29 and just his second hit in his last 20 plate appearances since May 11. The 31-year-old has lost out on playing time due to his offensive struggles. He's now slashing .196/.237/.337 with seven extra-base hits, three RBI, 10 runs and a 4:25 BB:K in 97 plate appearances. • Pops fourth homer Tuesday
Raley went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in a win over the Yankees on Tuesday.

Advice: The Mariners had their power stroke in solid form Tuesday, and Raley delivered one of four homers for Seattle on the night. The surging outfielder extended his hitting streak to eight games in the process, a stretch where he's left the yard on three occasions overall and has struck out at an atypically low 18.2 percent clip. • Getting breather for series finale
Perez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals.

Advice: Unless the Tigers deploy him off the bench Wednesday, Perez will put his five-game hitting streak on hold in the series finale while he exits the starting nine for the first time since May 12. Matt Vierling will spell Perez in center field. Rotowire.com 49 minutes ago

  • Heads to bench Wednesday
Kelly is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals.

Advice: Kelly had started behind the dish in three of the past four games, but he'll give way to Jake Rogers as the Tigers and Royals wrap up their series with a day game after a night game. Rogers appeared to have supplanted Kelly as the top option behind the plate toward the end of April, but playing time between the two backstops has been more equitable in May, with Kelly having thus far garnered 10 starts at catcher to Rogers' nine on the month. • Colt Keith draws start versus left-hander
Even though the Tigers are facing a tough lefty in Cole Ragans, Colt Keith is in the lineup for Wednesday’s game versus the Royals.

Advice: It’s the fourth time this year he’s drawn a start against a lefty. That he’s gone 6-for-8 the last two days certainly helped his cause here. Kerry Carpenter and Wenceel Pérez are taking a seat versus Ragans. Rotoworld 58 minutes ago

  • Swats homer in defeat
Pillar went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Tuesday's loss to the Astros.

Advice: Pillar took Bryan Abreu deep in the seventh to put the Angels back up 5-4 and extend his hitting streak to eight games. He's been on an absolute tear since signing with the Angels on April 30. In the month of May, Pillar is slashing .426/.460/.766 with four homers, 17 RBI, 12 runs and a 2:9 BB:K through 14 games. Prior to his release from the White Sox on April 26, the 35-year-old was slashing just .160/.290/.360 with a homer, four RBI, a run scored and a 4:8 BB:K through 17 games. • Aaron Brooks delivers quality start versus Rockies
Aaron Brooks gave the A’s another quality start by allowing three runs in six innings Tuesday at home against the Rockies.

Advice: This is definitely pushing the boundaries of the quality start; not only did he do the bare minimum in allowing three runs in six innings, but he was doing so against the road-team version of the Rockies in a strong pitcher’s park in Oakland. Still, he gave the A’s a chance to win, and they did so by scoring three runs off the Rockies pen. Brooks should remain in the rotation and face the Astros next. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:43 pm

  • Pops fourth homer
Renfroe went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and two total runs scored in Tuesday's 10-3 win over the Tigers.

Advice: Renfroe has gone 6-for-24 (.250) with five RBI over his last seven contests. While that's still modest hitting, it's a vast improvement on his .160 batting average for the season. Despite the middling results at the plate, Renfroe has started six of the last eight games in right field and appears to have fended off challenges for playing time from Dairon Blanco and Adam Frazier that popped up earlier in May. Renfroe has four homers, 18 RBI, 15 runs scored, four doubles, no stolen bases and a .518 OPS over 144 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:24 pm
