    • Struggles continue Thursday
Riley went 0-for-5 with a strikeout in Thursday's win over the Orioles.

Advice: The third baseman's been dropped down to fifth in the order, even with lefty-hander Cole Irvin on the mound for Baltimore on Thursday, but it hasn't helped wake up Riley's bat. His last homer came May 3, and in 16 games since he returned from an intercostal strain he's slashing just .161/.212/.194 with two RBI and a 4:17 BB:K. Riley's track record says he will heat up at some point this summer, and his Statcast profile suggests there's a great deal of bad luck contributing to his numbers this season -- he's in the 91st percentile in max exit velocity, 90th percentile in bat speed and 82nd percentile in hard-hit rate. • Back from bereavement list
The Royals reinstated Frazier (personal) from the bereavement list Friday.

Advice: The 32-year-old has been away from the team for the past few days to tend to personal matters but is now back with the Royals. Frazier hasn't been operating in an everyday role but has been a solid contributor since the start of May with a .266/.329/.422 slash line in 24 games. Rotowire.com 13 minutes ago

    • Launches seventh homer
Pages went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in Thursday's loss to the Rangers.

Advice: Pages singled in his second at-bat before taking Michael Lorenzen deep for a solo shot in the seventh, giving the outfielder his second multi-hit performance in his last three games. He's now batting .378 in June with two homers, three RBI and eight runs scored. Pages has also walked seven times already this month after drawing just four free passes through all of May. • Two RBI, two steals in win
Langford went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two stolen bases in Thursday's win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Langford drove in two of the Rangers' three runs on the night with RBI singles in the first and third innings while also swiping two bags. It marked the outfielder's third game this month with two RBI and his first multi-steal effort of the campaign. Langford has now hit safely in five of his last six games, going 7-for-22 (.318) over that stretch with four RBI, three stolen bases and two runs scored. Rotowire.com Today, 7:23 am
    • Drawing start Friday
Wicks is slated to start Friday's game against the Cardinals at Wrigley Field.

Advice: Wicks worked out of the bullpen in last Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Reds following his return from the 15-day injured list, but he'll slot back into the rotation for Friday's series opener with Ben Brown (neck) landing on the IL. Given that he covered 3.1 innings and 52 pitches in his relief outing last weekend, Wicks should be fairly stretched out for starting duties Friday. Over his five starts prior to landing on the IL, Wicks went 1-2 with a 4.70 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 28:9 K:BB across 23 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 7:17 am

    • Takes third loss
Grove (4-3) was charged with the loss against the Rangers on Thursday, allowing two runs on three hits over one inning.

Advice: Grove failed to retire three of the first five batters he faced, which led to two runs coming home for Texas in the first inning. That would prove to be the difference as the Dodgers' offense managed to generate only one run on the night, leaving Grove with his first loss since May 10. The right-hander has now allowed at least one run and multiple hits in each of his last two appearances. He's also failed to record a strikeout in three straight outings. • Needs internal brace surgery
Pereira needs season-ending internal brace surgery on his right elbow, Andy Martino of SNY.tv reports.

Advice: Pereira had already been placed on the full-season minor-league injured list at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and now it's known what injury he's dealing with. The rehab from an internal brace procedure is shorter than a full Tommy John surgery, especially for position players, but Pereira still seems likely to get a late start to next season. The 23-year-old slashed .265/.346/.512 with 10 home runs and five stolen bases over 40 games with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in 2024. Rotowire.com Today, 7:11 am

    • Nabs 10th save
Yates picked up the save over the Dodgers on Thursday, allowing one walk over a scoreless ninth inning while striking out three.

Advice: Yates had a bit of a hard time getting through the ninth after entering the contest with a two-run lead, surrendering a leadoff walk to Teoscar Hernandez on five pitches, who would later advance to second on a called balk. However, the veteran reliever made short work of the next three batters, getting all three to go down swinging as he secured his 10th save in as many chances. Yates has been solid in the closer role for Texas thus far and now holds a 1.11 ERA on the campaign. He's also recorded multiple strikeouts in three of his last four appearances and is yet to surrender a home run on the season. Rotowire.com Today, 7:04 am
    • Strong over seven innings
Lorenzen (4-3) picked up the win over the Dodgers on Thursday, allowing one run on four hits and one walk over seven innings. He struck out two.

Advice: Lorenzen kept the Dodgers' offense at bay for most of the contest and only allowed one extra-base hit on the night, which came off the bat of Andy Pages in the seventh inning for a solo shot. However, the right-hander was able to get through seven frames for just the second time this season while logging his second win in his last three starts. It also marked the first time in Lorenzen's last eight starts that he didn't walk multiple batters. On the downside, he's now posted a 3:3 K:BB over his last two outings. Rotowire.com Today, 6:53 am
