      Dylan Cease lasted only four innings against the Braves in the first game of Monday’s doubleheader, giving up five runs in a no-decision.

      Advice: Cease came into this one having given up four runs, nine hits and three walks in three starts this month. Today, he allowed five runs, nine hits and three walks in four innings. He also surrendered his fourth and fifth homers of the year. Chalk it up to a bad day against a talented lineup.     • Efficient in earning second win
      Pivetta (2-2) earned the win Sunday, allowing one run on one hit over six innings against the Cardinals. He struck out eight.

      Advice: A fourth-inning solo homer by Lars Nootbaar was the only blemish against Pivetta, who needed just 72 pitches to retire 18 of the 19 batters he faced. It was the second consecutive start for Pivetta with eight punchouts, as he's struck out 16 over 11.2 innings while allowing only three runs during that stretch. However, it should be noted that all three runs were scored by way of the long ball, and Pivetta has now allowed six homers, including five of the solo variety, over his last three appearances. Pivetta will look to carry the momentum into his next start, tentatively slated to take place next weekend when the Red Sox welcome the Brewers into Fenway for a three-game set.       Nick Pivetta limited the Cardinals to one run and one hit over six innings in Boston’s 11-3 win Sunday.

      Advice: The one hit was a 441-foot homer from Lars Nootbaar, but Pivetta retired every other batter he faced, striking out eight of them.     • Hamstring tightened during start
      Gallen revealed after Saturday's start against the Tigers that his right hamstring tightened up on him during the fourth inning, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

      Advice: It's the same hamstring that he had issues with earlier this season, which resulted in an early removal from one start and having another pushed back. Gallen wound up pitching into the seventh inning Saturday, ultimately getting charged with three runs on seven hits while striking out 10 over 6.2 frames. The right-hander said after the outing that his hamstring feels fine and he's unconcerned. Still, given that it's been a recurring problem, it's something to keep in mind.       Zac Gallen pitched well in a losing effort against the Tigers on Saturday night, racking up 10 strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings of three-run baseball.

      Advice: The 28-year-old right-hander scattered seven hits on the night and didn’t allow a base on balls. He had kept the Tigers off the board completely through the first six innings, but the wheels fell off in the seventh. After allowing a leadoff double to Gio Urshela, he struck out the next two hitters before allowing an RBI double to Javier Báez and an RBI single to Carson Kelly before turning the ball over to the bullpen — who would allow the inherited runner to score as well. Gallen generated a whopping 20 swings and misses in the ballgame — 12 of those on his knuckle curve — while posting an elite CSW of 40 percent.       Glasnow (6-2) took the loss against the Reds on Thursday, allowing four runs on six hits and one walk while striking out eight over five innings.

      Advice: Glasnow ran into trouble early, surrendering a leadoff homer to Will Benson to open the contest along with an RBI double to Tyler Stephenson four batters later. The Reds would get to Glasnow again in the third and fifth innings, marking only the second time this season he's allowed four or more runs in an outing. The right-hander had logged four consecutive quality starts coming into Thursday and still carries a 3.32 ERA in May to go along with a 28:4 K:BB.     • Tyler Glasnow surrenders four runs in loss to Reds
      Tyler Glasnow struck out eight and was charged with four runs over five innings on Thursday in a loss to the Reds.

      Advice: It was a rare dud for Glasnow, who has allowed three earned runs or fewer in eight of his 10 starts at the outset of his Dodgers debut. The 30-year-old righty will bring a and 81/16 K/BB ratio across 62 innings (10 starts) into a home outing on Tuesday against the division-rival Diamondbacks. Rotoworld Friday, 2:55 am

      Morton (3-1) took the loss Wednesday versus the Cubs, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits and three walks while striking out four over three innings.

      Advice: Morton worked a high pitch count, needing 76 pitches (48 strikes) to get through three frames in his shortest outing of the season. He had pitched into the sixth inning in each of his other seven starts. The 40-year-old's poor start caused his ERA to balloon to 3.52 from 3.14, and he's sporting a 1.15 WHIP and 44:17 K:BB over 46 innings.       King (3-4) took the loss against the Rockies on Wednesday, allowing six runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out seven betters over 5.1 innings.

      Advice: King fell behind when he yielded three runs in the second inning, and San Diego's offense never put up a fight against Austin Gomber and a trio of Rockies relievers. King had been on a roll coming into Wednesday, putting up 13 scoreless frames over his previous two starts, but he's been very inconsistent this season, giving up at least four runs in four of his 10 appearances.
