      Triston McKenzie allowed one earned run and stuck out six in five innings against the Tigers on Monday.

      Advice: McKenzie allowed a home run to Riley Greene on the first pitch of the game and after that, the 26-year-old shut down the Tigers’ offense. McKenzie has at least six strikeouts in four straight games and has gotten his season ERA under four for the first time this season (3.97 ERA).     • José Ramírez homers in second-straight game
      José Ramírez went 1-for-4 with a home run in Monday’s 2-1 win over the Tigers.

      Advice: Ramírez’s go-ahead home run came in the sixth inning as it hugged the right side of the diamond and hit the foul pole. It was a much-needed run for Cleveland who are now 23-12 through its first 35 games of the season — the team’s best start since 2011.       Nick Castellanos doubled, singled and walked twice versus the Giants on Monday.

      Advice: Each time it looks like Castellanos might be turning the corner, he’s gone right back to slumping the next day. Still, this rates as his best game so far this season. The double was hit 389 feet and would have been a homer in nine ballparks. Incredibly, it was the first two-bagger of the year for a guy who once had 58 of them. He finished with 37 last season.       Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Monday that Bellinger (ribs) could be activated from the 10-day injured list at some point during the team's current series versus the Padres, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

      Advice: Bellinger did some hitting and defensive work Monday, and Counsell noted that the outfielder won't require a rehab assignment before returning from the IL. His activation would appear to be imminent, though Bellinger won't be available for Monday's series opener. Bellinger has been on the shelf for nearly two weeks with a fracture in his right ribcage, resulting in Pete Crow-Armstrong taking hold of an everyday role in center field.     • Starting to hit for power
      Arozarena went 1-for-5 with a solo home run and a stolen base Sunday against the Mets.

      Advice: Arozarena took Edwin Diaz yard in the ninth inning to tie the game, tallying his fifth home run of the season and second in his last three starts. He also swiped his fifth base of the year and has yet to be caught. It's been an ugly start to the season for Arozarena, and even with this burst of power, he has failed to record multiple hits in a game since March 30. The slow start has been the result of some bad luck -- he has a .165 BABIP -- but he's also struck out at an elevated 29.8 percent clip across 141 plate appearances.       Realmuto went 3-for-4 with a run scored in Sunday's win over the Giants.

      Advice: Realmuto slid into the No. 2 spot in the order with Trea Turner (hamstring) recently being placed on the injured list. He singled in the third and came home on Bryce Harper's three-run homer and would wind up notching two more base hits before his night was over. Sunday was the first three-hit effort of the season for Realmuto and his seventh multi-hit game.       Westburg went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 11-1 win over the Reds.

      Advice: Westburg did his damage early, lifting a two-run blast in the first inning. He had gone 0-for-7 over the first two games of the weekend series in Cincinnati. The homer was his first since April 21 and his sixth of the year.       J.T. Realmuto went 3-for-4 and scored a run as the Phillies triumphed over the Giants on Sunday evening in Philadelphia.

      Advice: Realmuto — hitting in the second slot of the lineup with Trea Turner (hamstring) shelved — singled in the third inning and rode home on Bryce Harper’s three-run blast. He added an infield single in the fourth inning and another in the sixth before all was said and done.       Jordan Westburg went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in a win over the Reds on Sunday.

      Advice: Westburg jumped on Nick Lodolo in the first inning with a 378-foot home run that left the bat at 101.9 mph. It was Westburg’s sixth home run of the season to go along with 23 RBIs. It’s been a breakout month for the 25-year-old, but he’s seen his triple slash fall to .286/.336/.513 after going 6-for-28 over his last seven games. The quality of contact gains are real but Westburg is swinging and missing a lot more this season, so the batting average may continue to slip a little bit in the coming weeks.
