      Cortes (4-6) was saddled with the loss Sunday, allowing three runs on five hits over seven innings against Atlanta. He struck out seven.

      Advice: Cortes mostly held the Atlanta bats in check to put together his third consecutive quality start and the ninth time this season he's struck out six or more batters, but the Yankees failed to provide any run support and Cortes was left with his sixth loss. Outside of a solo home run by Jarred Kelenic in the third, Cortes' only real trouble came in the fifth, when he allowed two runs on three hits. However, he finished his day strong by retiring all six batters faced in the sixth and seventh. Cortes has tossed 100.2 innings across 17 starts, accumulating 93 strikeouts. He'll take a 3.40 ERA and 1.07 WHIP into his next start, scheduled to take place when the Yankees head to Toronto for a four-game weekend set against the division-rival Blue Jays.       Raisel Iglesias struck out two Yankees en route to a save on Sunday. He didn’t allow a base runner.

      Nestor Cortes allowed three earned runs across seven innings Sunday against the Braves. He struck out seven and walked none as a tough-luck loser.

      Advice: Cortes was great Sunday, Max Fried was just better. Jarred Kelenic burned him for a short-porch home run early and then the bottom of the Braves’ lineup rallied in the fifth inning. Otherwise, Cortes was dotting his cutter on the edges all afternoon and kept the Braves’ big bats at bay. He’s had a fantastic season thus far with a 3.40 ERA and 93 strikeouts in 100 2/3 innings.       Sanchez (5-3) earned the win Sunday, allowing three hits and striking out four over seven scoreless innings against the Diamondbacks.

      Advice: Sanchez was highly efficient, needing just 80 pitches through seven and facing just one batter over the minimum thanks to a couple of timely double plays. The seven innings matched a season high for Sanchez, who tossed his eighth quality start and allowed zero runs over six or more innings for the second time this season. It's also the fifth time in his last six starts that Sanchez has allowed one or fewer runs, and he's posted a 1.78 ERA and 1.05 WHIP with 23 strikeouts over 35.1 innings during that stretch.     • Cristopher Sánchez cruises in win over D-backs
      Cristopher Sánchez shut out the Diamondbacks for seven innings, surrendering just three hits, in the Phillies’ 4-1 win Sunday.

      Advice: Sánchez walked none and struck out four in the 80-pitch outing. He gave up a 387-foot fly to Christian Walker in the first that would have been a homer in nine ballparks, but CBP wasn’t one of them. Sánchez has still allowed just one homer in 84 1/3 innings for the year. He’s 5-3 with a 2.67 ERA. Rotoworld Sunday, 11:33 am
       
    • Picks up one-out save
      Suarez picked up a one-out save in a win over the Brewers on Saturday night while not allowing any hits or walks.

      Advice: Suarez likely wasn't expecting to make an appearance with the Padres up 6-0 to open the ninth, but things changed quickly when Brice Turang launched a grand slam off Jhony Brito to bring Milwaukee back within two runs with two outs in the frame. However, Suarez was able to put out the fire, retiring William Contreras on a groundout to end the game and secure his 19th save of the season. Suarez has not allowed any hits or walks over his last two appearances after suffering his only blown save of the year against the Phillies on June 18.       Robert Suarez picked up his 19th save of the season on Saturday, recording the final out against the Brewers.

      Advice: It didn’t seem like Suarez would be needed in this one after the Padres entered the ninth inning leading 6-0, but after Brice Turang slugged a two-out grand slam that made things a bit tighter, the 33-year-old right-hander was summoned to close it out. It took him just three pitches to get William Contreras to bounce out to third base to end it.       Phillies signed LHP Cristopher Sánchez to a four-year contract extension with club options for 2029 and 2030.

      Advice: The long-term extension, which was first reported earlier on Saturday by the New York Post’s Jon Heyman, is now official. The deal essentially buys out Sanchez’s remaining arbitration-eligible seasons with club options for his first two free agent years. No word yet on the exact financial terms. It wasn’t looking good for Philadelphia a couple years ago when Curtis Mead blossomed into one of the most promising prospects in baseball after being shipped to Tampa Bay for Sánchez. However, the pendulum has swung back the other way with Mead struggling in the majors and Sánchez turning into a reliable mid-rotation stabilizer.       Advice: Sanchez has been a key part of Philadelphia's rotation this season, posting a 2.91 ERA and 1.36 WHIP alongside a 66:24 K:BB through 77.1 innings across 14 starts. The left-hander was already under team control through the 2028 campaign, but his extension will buy out his arbitration years and reportedly includes options for 2029 and 2030 that could allow the Phillies to keep him around longer.
