      Ranger Suárez allowed four runs over six innings on Tuesday in a loss to the Tigers.

      Advice: Suárez was simply outdueled by Tigers ace Tarik Skubal on Tuesday night at Comerica Park as the pair traded zeroes until the fifth inning when Detroit’s lineup struck for four runs on five hits in the frame. He finished with four punchouts and didn’t hand out a free pass. It was just the second time this season through 16 starts that he’s allowed four earned runs or more.     • Aaron Nola starts triple play, tames Tigers in win
      Aaron Nola yielded one run over seven innings on Monday in a win over the Tigers.

      Advice: Nola did what he’s done best throughout his career in this one, cruising into the late innings after being staked to a massive lead before even taking the mound at pitcher-friendly Comerica Park. He struck out six batters and didn’t hand out a free pass. A run-scoring single from Carson Kelly in the fifth inning represented the lone tally against him over seven strong frames. He also started an ultra-rare 1-3-5 triple play in the third inning of this one, which was the first in the big leagues since 1929 and only third of its kind in big-league history. The 31-year-old upper-echelon fantasy contributor is prone to the occasional blow-up, but he’s allowed three earned runs or fewer in 13 of his 16 outings this season.       Nola (9-3) picked up the win Monday against Detroit, allowing one earned run on six hits and zero walks while striking out six over seven innings.

      Advice: Nola allowed just one extra-base hit, limiting the Tigers to just one run to notch his sixth quality start over his past seven outings. Despite getting shelled by the Red Sox for eight earned runs on June 13, the 31-year-old owns a robust 3.54 ERA, a 1.06 WHIP and a 84:25 K:BB over 94 innings.     • Nestor Cortes takes tough luck no decision
      Nestor Cortes allowed three runs on five hits in seven innings in a loss to the Yankees on Sunday.

      Advice: Cortes also struck out seven and walked nobody on the day. At times, he looked more electric than Max Fried, and it was Cortes who had more whiffs, getting 17 swings and misses on 49 swings for a 35 percent whiff rate and 36 percent CSW. Unfortunately, he allowed a solo home run to Jarred Kelenic and got himself into trouble in the fifth innings on three hits and a sac fly.       Iglesias struck out two during a perfect ninth to collect the save Sunday against the Yankees.

      Advice: Iglesias needed just 10 pitches to close out the game, retiring Aaron Judge on one pitch, then striking out the final two batters he faced. Iglesias has converted 12 consecutive save chances and 20 of 22 opportunities on the season, carrying a 2.51 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 23 strikeouts over 28.2 innings. Rotowire.com Sunday, 2:16 pm
       
    • Takes loss despite quality start
      Cortes (4-6) was saddled with the loss Sunday, allowing three runs on five hits over seven innings against Atlanta. He struck out seven.

      Advice: Cortes mostly held the Atlanta bats in check to put together his third consecutive quality start and the ninth time this season he's struck out six or more batters, but the Yankees failed to provide any run support and Cortes was left with his sixth loss. Outside of a solo home run by Jarred Kelenic in the third, Cortes' only real trouble came in the fifth, when he allowed two runs on three hits. However, he finished his day strong by retiring all six batters faced in the sixth and seventh. Cortes has tossed 100.2 innings across 17 starts, accumulating 93 strikeouts. He'll take a 3.40 ERA and 1.07 WHIP into his next start, scheduled to take place when the Yankees head to Toronto for a four-game weekend set against the division-rival Blue Jays.       Raisel Iglesias struck out two Yankees en route to a save on Sunday. He didn’t allow a base runner.

      Nestor Cortes allowed three earned runs across seven innings Sunday against the Braves. He struck out seven and walked none as a tough-luck loser.

      Advice: Cortes was great Sunday, Max Fried was just better. Jarred Kelenic burned him for a short-porch home run early and then the bottom of the Braves’ lineup rallied in the fifth inning. Otherwise, Cortes was dotting his cutter on the edges all afternoon and kept the Braves’ big bats at bay. He’s had a fantastic season thus far with a 3.40 ERA and 93 strikeouts in 100 2/3 innings.       Sanchez (5-3) earned the win Sunday, allowing three hits and striking out four over seven scoreless innings against the Diamondbacks.

      Advice: Sanchez was highly efficient, needing just 80 pitches through seven and facing just one batter over the minimum thanks to a couple of timely double plays. The seven innings matched a season high for Sanchez, who tossed his eighth quality start and allowed zero runs over six or more innings for the second time this season. It's also the fifth time in his last six starts that Sanchez has allowed one or fewer runs, and he's posted a 1.78 ERA and 1.05 WHIP with 23 strikeouts over 35.1 innings during that stretch.
