    • Makes history with walk-off homer
Merrill went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the A's.

Advice: The rookie center fielder took Hogan Harris deep in the fifth inning, setting the stage for Merrill to play hero by ripping a slider from Mason Miller down the right-field line in the bottom of the ninth for his first career walk-off homer. In the process, Merrill become the youngest player in Padres history with a walk-off blast, and the youngest player in MLB history with a two-homer game that included a walk-off shot. The 21-year-old snapped a 26-game homer drought with the performance, but he's been heating up in June, batting .355 (11-for-31) over the last eight contests with four doubles, two steals, four RBI and five runs. • Earns sixth win
Webb (6-5) picked up the win Wednesday against the Astros, allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out five over six innings.

Advice: Webb held Houston to one run through his first five innings before giving up a two-run homer to Yordan Alvarez in the sixth. However, the Giants would hang on for a 5-3 victory while Webb logged his sixth quality start in his last seven outings. Overall, the right-hander sports a 3.02 ERA with a 1.20 WHIP and 78:20 K:BB across 92.1 innings this year. Webb's currently slated for a road. matchup with the Cubs early next week in his next start. • Jackson Merrill slugs walk-off homer to sink A’s
Jackson Merrill blasted two solo homers, including a game-winning blast in the ninth inning, powering the Padres to a 5-4 walk-off victory over the Athletics.

Advice: Merrill took Athletics fire-balling closer Mason Miller deep into the right-field corner for his fifth round-tripper of the season to send the Friars faithful home in walk-off fashion. The 21-year-old rookie center fielder also took Oakland starter Hogan Harris deep in the fifth inning as part of his first career multi-homer performance. He’s caught fire over the last few weeks, batting .294 (30-for-105) with three homers and five steals over his past 30 games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:27 pm

    • Next start pushed back
Manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday that Yamamoto's next start will be pushed back from Thursday to Saturday against Kansas City, Kirsten Watson of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports.

Advice: The Dodgers have not announced a replacement starter for Yamamoto, but they will give the right-hander an extra few days to rest after he threw a season-high 106 pitches across seven scoreless innings during his last outing against the Yankees. The 25-year-old has put up a 2.50 ERA and 1.11 WHIP alongside a 22:5 K:BB across 18 innings over his last three starts. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:38 pm
    • Woo! MRI on right-hander’s forearm returns clean
Mariners’ manager Scott Servais told reporters on Wednesday that the MRI on the forearm of injured right-hander Bryan Woo came back clean.

Advice: Too often in situations like these, a forearm strain leads to instability in the elbow, then the MRI reveals structural damage and another talented hurler heads for Tommy John surgery. It’s very refreshing to hear in this case that Woo won’t even require a trip to the injured list and could return to the Mariners’ rotation as early as next week. The 24-year-old hurler has been terrific this season, registering a 1.07 ERA, 0.54 WHIP and a 24/2 K/BB ratio over 33 2/3 innings in his first six starts. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:14 pm

    • MRI comes back clean
Mariners general manager Justin Hollander said Wednesday that the MRI on Woo's arm "was perfectly clean," and the right-hander could be reinserted into the rotation as early as next week, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The 24-year-old was scratched ahead of his scheduled start Tuesday against the White Sox due to what the team labeled as a "right forearm issue," but he doesn't appear to be dealing with anything too serious. It's unclear when exactly Woo will make his next start, though it seems the Mariners will attempt to avoid putting him on the injured list. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:00 pm

    • Logan Webb completes six innings to defeat Astros
Logan Webb yielded three runs over six innings on Wednesday in a win over the Astros.

Advice: Webb limited Houston’s formidable, yet injury-depleted, lineup to just a fourth-inning RBI single by Jeremy Peña before Yordan Alvarez clobbered a two-run homer a couple frames later. Still, he was good enough to outduel Astros ace Framber Valdez at Oracle Park in this one. The 27-year-old workhorse will bring a strong 3.02 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 78/20 K/BB ratio across 92 1/3 innings (15 starts) into a road tilt on Tuesday against the Cubs at historic Wrigley Field. • Vlad Jr. is getting a day off on Wednesday
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is not in the Blue Jays’ starting lineup on Wednesday against the Brewers.

Advice: It’s just a routine rest day for Guerrero, who has seen his batting average skyrocket over the last few weeks with plenty of hard contact. The home runs have not been there, and might not ever come back at the level we saw in the past given his launch angles, but there’s nothing to worry about here. Spencer Horwitz will lead off and play first base on Wednesday with Isiah Kiner-Falefa at second base and Ernie Clement starting at third. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:22 am
    • Gaining traction in lineup
Chourio will start in left field and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays.

Advice: Chourio will stick in the lineup for the fifth game in a row, with three of his starts coming against right-handed pitching during that stretch. The rookie went 4-for-13 with a home run, a double and two walks over his previous four starts, and his recent surge at the plate could be enough for him to unseat the lefty-hitting Jake Bauers as a regular in the lineup versus right-handed pitching. Bauers is in the lineup Wednesday against Toronto righty Chris Bassitt, but he was on the bench for two of the Brewers' previous three matchups with right-handers. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:16 am
