    • Quality start in no-decision
Webb did not factor into the decision in Monday's 5-2 loss to the Cubs, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk over seven innings. He struck out five.

Advice: Webb collected his third consecutive quality start, twelfth total of the season, with a solid 101-pitch outing. The San Francisco ace's only blemish of the game came in the second inning when he allowed a 401-foot two-run homer to Dansby Swanson. With this outing, Webb pushed his ERA down to 2.99 over 99.1 innings this year. He looks to eclipse the 100 inning threshold for the fourth consecutive season in his next start, currently slated to be against the Cardinals on the road. Rotowire.com 9 minutes ago
    • Picks up fourth win
Skenes (4-0) earned the win Monday against the Reds after he allowed one run in six innings. He gave up six hits, walked one and struck out seven.

Advice: Skenes has been every bit as advertised over his first seven career starts, and he once again showed off an impressive repertoire Monday to get his fourth win. The rookie right-hander has now gone at least six innings in five of his seven starts, and he's reached at least seven strikeouts six times. The 22-year-old has allowed only seven free passes all season and will take a 2.29 ERA and 0.99 WHIP into his next start. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:32 pm

    • Paul Skenes dominates again in seven-strikeout gem
Paul Skenes struck out seven and allowed one run over six innings on Monday in a win over the Reds.

Advice: Skenes got into trouble in the opening frame when he surrendered a run-scoring double to Spencer Steer, but managed to escape the frame without any additional damage, and went on to limit Cincinnati’s lineup to just five baserunners over his final five innings of work. The electrifying 22-year-old rookie induced an eye-popping 18 swinging strikes in this one, including nine on his splinker alone, and finished with a near-elite 34 percent CSW. He’s recorded at least seven strikeouts in six of his first seven starts since arriving in the majors back in mid-May. He’s the real deal. He’ll bring a sparkling 2.29 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 53/7 K/BB ratio across 39 1/3 innings (seven starts) into a favorable matchup on Sunday against the strikeout-prone Rays. • Making rehab start Wednesday
Padres manager Mike Shildt said that Darvish (groin) will make a rehab start Wednesday with High-A Fort Wayne, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The upcoming rehab start will take a potential return from the 15-day injured list off the table this week, but Darvish shouldn't need more than one tune-up outing in the minors before slotting back into the San Diego rotation. Darvish previously bypassed a rehab assignment when he was on the IL earlier this season due to neck tightness, but the Padres will act more cautiously with the right-hander this time around while he works his way back from a left groin strain that has thus far kept him out for three weeks. • Yu Darvish (groin) set for rehab start Wednesday
The Padres will have Yu Darvish make a rehab start with high-A Fort Wayne on Wednesday.

Advice: If that goes well, he’ll probably jump right back into the major league rotation at the beginning of next week. Darvish has been out since May 29 with a groin strain. Adam Mazur presumably will make one more start for the Padres this week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:14 pm

    • Throws bullpen session
DeGrom (elbow) threw a 15-pitch bullpen session Monday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The session contained only fastballs and marked the first time deGrom has thrown off a mound since he underwent Tommy John surgery last June. Everything went according to plan, and deGrom will continue to the ramp-up process as he eyes a return from the 60-day injured list sometime in the second half of the season. • Jacob deGrom (elbow) throws off mound
Jacob deGrom threw off a mound Monday for the first time since Tommy John surgery last June.

Advice: DeGrom was limited to fastballs today, but it’s still a big step. He’s still several weeks away from beginning a rehab assignment. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:38 pm

    • Sitting against lefty again
Campusano is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies.

Advice: The Padres seem to have opted for a de facto platoon at catcher of late, even though both Campusano and Kyle Higashioka are right-handed hitters. Higashioka will stick in the lineup Monday for the fourth time in the Padres' last five matchups with lefties, while Campusano will take a seat. Campusano should still see the bulk of the playing time behind the dish as the Padres' preferred option against righties. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:40 pm

    • First three-hit game of season
Jones went 3-for-4 with an RBI on Sunday against the Pirates.

Advice: Jones started in his second straight game since returning from the injured list and has hit fifth and sixth in the order. He delivered his first three-hit effort and only sixth multi-knock performance of the campaign in 29 starts. That provides some hope that he's now fully healthy and prepared to improve upon his .196 average and .587 OPS. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:56 am
