      Advice: McArthur inherited a brutal situation from John Schreiber, who left the bases loaded with no outs in the eighth inning. McArthur let all three inherited runners score after allowing four straight singles, and Will Klein was unable to slow the Padres' rally. While he's still a high-leverage option, McArthur was awful in May with a 9.00 ERA and 1.90 WHIP over 10 innings while going 4-for-7 in save conversations. He's at a 5.32 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 23:3 K:BB through 23.2 innings, but he's giving up too many hits to find long-term success, though the Royals lack relievers who have pitched well over the last month.       James McArthur gave up four runs without retiring a batter in the eighth to take a blown save Friday against the Padres.

      Advice: Josh Schreiber, McArthur and Will Klein combined to give up nine runs in the eighth after the Royals entered the inning with a 3-2 lead. The good news for McArthur was that Schreiber, the Royals’ best alternative in the closer’s role, was pretty much equally ineffective tonight.       Flaherty (2-4) earned the win over Boston on Thursday, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out nine batters over 6.2 scoreless innings.

      Advice: Flaherty was at his best Thursday, racking up 15 swinging strikes and tying his season high with 6.2 frames. The right-hander struck out exactly nine batters for the third straight contest and recorded his sixth consecutive quality start. Though the win was just his second this season, Flaherty has been very good in his first year with Detroit, posting a 3.46 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 90:10 K:BB over 67.2 innings.       Jack Flaherty struck out nine while allowing just one hit over 6 2/3 innings of shutout baseball to help the Tigers to a 5-0 win over the Red Sox on Thursday.

      Advice: Flaherty didn’t allow a hit until there was one out in the seventh inning when Rob Refsnyder was able to break up the no-no. The right-hander has now struck out nine batters in three straight starts, and his K/BB for the month of May is 40/5. Flaherty has been a strong addition to the Detroit rotation, and he’s pitched better than his still-solid 3.46 ERA has indicated — especially lately.       Josh Hader struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning on Thursday against the Mariners.

      Advice: Hader got the call to protect a four-run advantage in a non-save situation and made things interesting by giving up singles to Julio Rodríguez and Ty France before striking out Dominic Canzone and getting Mitch Haniger to ground out to extinguish the threat. The 30-year-old lefty has allowed just two runs with a 20/4 K/BB ratio across 11 appearances since the start of May. Simply put, he remains one of the few elite closers in the fantasy landscape.       Verlander did not factor into the decision in Wednesday's loss to the Mariners, allowing one run on three hits and one walk over seven innings while striking out nine.

      Advice: Verlander got off to a great start, hurling 1-2-3 innings in three of the first four frames before surrendering a solo homer to Dominic Canzone in the fifth. The veteran right-hander would only allow a walk from that point on and managed to go seven innings for the third time in his last six starts.       Advice: Verlander scattered three hits and one walk, striking out nine batters for the second consecutive start. The only run the Mariners would score on him came on a solo homer by Dominic Canzone in the fifth inning.       Advice: Harrison's final line ultimately could've looked a lot worse, as he surrendered a career-most 12 hits. The 22-year-old southpaw's hit a rough patch of late, giving up three or more runs over five innings in each of his last four starts. Harrison's ERA is up to 4.15 through 12 starts (65 innings) this year with a 1.40 WHIP and 60:22 K:BB. The 22-year-old southpaw will bring a respectable 4.15 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 60/22 K/BB ratio across 65 innings (12 starts) into a road tilt on Tuesday against the division-rival Diamondbacks.
