    • Royce Lewis getting a breather on Friday night
Royce Lewis is not in the Twins’ starting lineup for Friday night’s showdown against the Athletics.

Advice: The Twins have been careful to ease the 25-year-old slugger back into action following his return from the injured list, but after starting four straight games they decided it was a good time to give him a breather. Jose Miranda will start in his place at the hot corner and will bat fifth for the Twins against Mitch Spence and the Athletics. Rotoworld Today, 1:38 pm

    • Not in Friday's lineup
Lewis is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Athletics.

Advice: Lewis is in the midst of a six-game hit streak, during which he's gone 9-for-23 with two homers, but he'll take a seat Friday after making four straight starts. Jose Miranda will step in at the hot corner and bat fifth. Rotowire.com Today, 1:31 pm

    • Tosses six effective frames
Severino allowed one run on seven hits and three walks while striking out two batters over six innings in a no-decision versus Miami on Thursday.

Advice: Severino recorded only one 1-2-3 inning and punched out a season-low two batters, but he held the Marlins scoreless until Jake Burger belted a solo homer in the sixth frame. It was the third time in his past four outings that the veteran hurler has yielded exactly one run, and he has a 2.39 ERA and 1.10 WHIP despite a mediocre 16:7 K:BB over 26.1 innings during that span. Severino is on pace for a career-worst 6.9 K/9, but he's been solid otherwise in his first season as a Met, posting a 3.12 ERA and 1.18 WHIP across 78 frames. Rotowire.com Today, 12:15 am
    • Severino allows one in no-decision Thursday
Luis Severino allowed one run in six innings and got a no-decision in the Mets’ 3-2 victory over the Marlins on Thursday.

Advice: Severino gave up seven hits, walked three and struck out two. He’s allowed only one run in three of his last four starts. Severino’s two strikeouts were a season-low for him. His ERA is now 3.12 on the season. The 30-year-old right-hander is set to face the Rangers on the road next week.

    • Idle Thursday
Smith isn't in the Dodgers' lineup Thursday versus the Rangers.

Advice: Smith will get some scheduled rest after starting in five consecutive games. In that span, the catcher went 5-for-19 with a homer versus the Yankees and Rangers. With the 29-year-old on the bench Thursday, Austin Barnes will start behind the dish and bat ninth. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:14 pm

    • Royce Lewis making fourth straight start Thursday
Royce Lewis is at third base and batting third for Thursday’s series opener against the Athletics.

Advice: It’s a notable development that Lewis is making his fourth straight start after being eased back into game action last week following a lengthy absence due to a severe quad injury. The 25-year-old emerging fantasy stalwart is batting .321 (9-for-28) with four homers and seven RBI in eight games since returning back on June 4. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:26 pm

    • Hit with first loss
Miller (1-1) took the loss Wednesday, giving up a solo home run in one-third of an inning as the A's fell 5-4 to the Padres.

Advice: With one out in the bottom of the ninth inning, Jackson Merrill drove the first pitch he saw from Miller down the right-field line for a walk-off homer. The Oakland closer may be wearing down -- over his last eight appearances he's served up three long balls and been scored upon four times, leading to a 5.59 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 14:6 K:BB through 9.2 innings during that stretch. • Gets on base four times
Soler went 2-for-2 with two walks and one run scored in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Astros.

Advice: Soler has found some success at the plate in June, going 11-for-37 (.297) over 10 contests this month. He's also drawn four walks over his last three games, though his 9.6 percent walk rate is still his lowest since 2015. While it's a positive to see the designated hitter make more consistent contact, he's still struggling to hit for power. He's batting .217 with a .661 OPS, seven home runs, 18 RBI, 26 runs scored, nine doubles and no stolen bases over 56 games this season. Soler's lowest OPS in a season is .503 in 2017, but he played in just 35 games that year. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 11:18 pm

    • Tagged with loss Wednesday
Buehler (1-4) allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits and a walk while striking out two over five innings, taking the loss Wednesday versus the Rangers.

Advice: Buehler gave up a three-run home run to Corey Seager in the fifth inning, and that ended up being the difference in this game. This was the sixth time in seven outings that Buehler has allowed at least three runs. He's likely still working on getting into a groove after an extended absence following his August 2022 Tommy John surgery. The right-hander has a 4.64 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 29:9 K:BB over 33 innings so far. He'll have a tough task in his next start, which is projected to be at Colorado. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 11:10 pm
