    • Activated, called up ahead of start
Poteet (finger) was activated from the minor-league 7-day injured list and called up to start Saturday's contest versus the Giants.

Advice: Poteet is officially set to make his second major-league start of the season Saturday, replacing Clarke Schmidt (lat) on the mound for the Yankees. The right-hander last pitched with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on May 19, allowing three runs over four innings before missing his last outing with a blister. Poteet drew his first start with New York on April 13, tossing six innings of one-run ball while striking out four in a win over the Guardians. It's unclear if the Yankees view Poteet as a long-term replacement for Schmidt, who's expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks, but a strong outing Saturday could certainly make that a possibility. • Sent back to Triple-A
Morris was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre following the Yankees' 6-2 win over San Francisco on Friday.

Advice: Morris was called up Thursday, failing to appear in a contest out of the bullpen before being sent back down to Triple-A. The right-hander will now have to wait for his next chance to join the major-league roster. In a corresponding move, Cody Poteet was recalled from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and he'll start Saturday's contest versus the Giants. Rotowire.com 54 minutes ago

    • Padres recall Randy Vásquez for Saturday start
Padres recalled RHP Randy Vásquez from Triple-A El Paso.

Advice: Vásquez draws the starting assignment for Saturday’s game against the Royals after Joe Musgrove was scratched just a few hours prior to first pitch. The 25-year-old righty has posted an underwhelming 5.82 ERA, 1.75 WHIP and 13/4 K/BB ratio across 21 2/3 innings (five starts) this season in his Padres debut. He’s not a recommended streaming option for fantasy managers. Rotoworld 59 minutes ago
    • Called up Saturday
Little was called up from Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Advice: Little will return to the majors after being sent down to Buffalo on May 5. With Jordan Romano (elbow) being placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday, Little will get another shot in Toronto's bullpen. The left-hander has appeared in three games with the Blue Jays this season, allowing four runs on five hits and a walk while striking out four batters over 3.1 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 10:07 am
    • Yankees recall Cody Poteet for Saturday start
Yankees recalled RHP Cody Poteet from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Advice: Poteet draws the starting assignment for Saturday’s showdown against the Giants at Oracle Park. The 29-year-old righty allowed one run over six innings against the Guardians back in mid-April when he made his Yankees debut. He figures to make a couple starts over the next few weeks until Gerrit Cole (elbow) is ready to make his season debut. Rotoworld Today, 10:07 am

    • Recalled to start Saturday
The Padres recalled Vasquez from Triple-A El Paso to start Saturday's game against the Royals.

Advice: Vasquez was optioned to Triple-A in May after posting a 5.82 ERA and 1.75 WHIP across 21.2 innings through his first five starts. His numbers get even worse in the minors (7.45 ERA, 1.88 WHIP) but he will be called upon for another start with the Padres nonetheless. Rotowire.com Today, 10:06 am
    • Blown save Friday
McArthur took a blown save in Friday's 11-8 loss to the Padres, allowing four runs on four hits without retiring a batter.

Advice: McArthur inherited a brutal situation from John Schreiber, who left the bases loaded with no outs in the eighth inning. McArthur let all three inherited runners score after allowing four straight singles, and Will Klein was unable to slow the Padres' rally. While he's still a high-leverage option, McArthur was awful in May with a 9.00 ERA and 1.90 WHIP over 10 innings while going 4-for-7 in save conversations. He's at a 5.32 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 23:3 K:BB through 23.2 innings, but he's giving up too many hits to find long-term success, though the Royals lack relievers who have pitched well over the last month. • Yankees option Cody Morris to Triple-A
Yankees optioned RHP Cody Morris to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Advice: Morris was up with New York for a handful of games as extra relief depth in the wake of Clarke Schmidt (lat) hitting the injured list. He’s been shipped back to the minors to make room for Cody Poteet to come up and take the ball on Saturday against the Giants in San Francisco. Rotoworld Today, 10:05 am

    • Handed loss Friday
Schreiber (3-1) allowed three runs on three hits over one-third of an inning, taking the loss Friday versus the Padres.

Advice: Schreiber got the final out of the seventh inning but put three straight batters on base to begin the eighth. James McArthur relieved him and couldn't stop the Padres' rally in what ended up being a nine-run frame. After looking like one of the Royals' most dominant relievers in April, Schreiber posted a much worse 6.52 ERA and 2.17 WHIP over 9.2 innings in May. He's at a decent 3.00 ERA on the year, but his 1.33 WHIP and 17:7 K:BB over 24 innings are concerning, as he's giving up too many hits and striking out too few batters. Schreiber has a save and 14 holds on the year while operating in a setup role. Rotowire.com Today, 10:00 am
