    • Resting Thursday
Lee is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rockies, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Lee will exit the starting nine for the first time since April 24 while Austin Slater fills in for him in center field. Unless he's summoned from the bench Thursday, Lee will put his six-game hitting streak on hold before returning to action Friday versus the Reds. Rotowire.com 23 minutes ago
    • Homers in third straight
Tucker went 1-for-5 with a solo home run Wednesday against the Yankees.

Advice: Tucker tallied a homer in his third straight game by taking Carlos Rodon yard in the opening frame. He's also mashed six of his 11 homers this season in his last ten contests, though he has only three additional hits in that span. Overall, it's been an excellent start to the campaign for Tucker, as he has also chipped in five stolen bases, 25 runs and 25 RBI across 36 contests. Rotowire.com Today, 8:51 am
    • Stellar in non-save scenario
Miller fired two perfect innings during which he recorded four strikeouts in the first game of a doubleheader against the Rangers on Wednesday.

Advice: Miller had last taken the hill May 1, so manager Mark Kotsay opted to give his closer some much-needed work with the Athletics up by five runs. The extended layoff didn't seem to faze Miller in the least, as he located 24 of 32 pitches for strikes in an relatively efficient showing. The hard-throwing right-hander lowered his ERA and WHIP to 1.10 and 0.67, respectively, in the process, and with the Athletics much more competitive than expected thus far, Miller's prospects for save opportunities over the long term are brighter than when the season began, despite the recent stretch of inactivity. • Doomed by sixth inning
Perez allowed four earned runs on eight hits and no walks while striking out five across five innings Wednesday against the Angels. He did not factor into the decision.

Advice: Perez worked five effective innings, allowing only two earned runs. However, he allowed the first two hitters he faced in the sixth inning to reach base, who then came around to score after Luis Ortiz entered the game. Perez has faded in the sixth inning in consecutive starts, allowing five earned runs combined in the frame. Overall, he still has a positive 3.60 ERA, though that comes with a less impressive 1.40 WHIP and 36:13 K:BB. Rotowire.com Today, 6:12 am
    • Notches seventh save
Yates gave up a run on two hits and a walk while striking out one in the ninth inning during the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the A's, recording his seventh save of the season in a 12-11 win.

Advice: It didn't seem like the Rangers would need their closer when they took a 12-7 lead into the final frame, but after Owen White gave up three straight singles to load the bases without getting an out, Yates was pressed into duty. The right-hander wound up allowing all three inherited runners to score, plus one of his own, before finally escaping the jam. It was the first run Yates had given up all season, and he sports a 0.56 ERA, 0.69 WHIP and 17:6 K:BB through 16 innings without blowing a save. Rotowire.com Today, 6:09 am
    • Secures third victory
Rodon (3-2) earned the win over Houston on Wednesday, allowing two runs on seven hits and no walks while striking out seven batters over 6.1 innings.

Advice: Rodon gave up six earned runs over four frames in his worst start of the campaign his last time out, but he bounced back with a strong showing Wednesday. The left-hander racked up 16 swinging strikes against the Astros, leading to his second-highest single-game strikeout total of the season. While Rodon's season ERA sits at a mediocre 3.56, that's largely due to the blowup outing against Baltimore. He has posted a 2.54 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 37:14 K:BB over 39 innings across his other seven starts. Rotowire.com Today, 12:25 am
    • Kirby Yates holds on for seventh save against A’s
Kirby Yates allowed one run with one strikeout in the ninth inning to record a save against the Athletics on Wednesday.

Advice: Up by five runs in the ninth, Owen White started the inning for the Rangers, but loaded the bases with no outs. Yates came on to clean it up, but gave up a sacrifice fly and a pair of hits to bring Oakland to within one run. He held on to escape the jam and end the game with his seventh save. • Carlos Rodón strikes out seven in win over Astros
Carlos Rodón allowed two runs with seven strikeouts across 6 1/3 innings in a win over the Astros on Wednesday.

Advice: Rodón served up a solo homer to Kyle Tucker in the first inning. He settled in nicely, tossing five more scoreless frames. Rodón went back out for the seventh gave up a run on two hits before his day was done with one out in the frame. He struck out seven on an impressive 16 whiffs. It was a nice bounceback effort for the 31-year-old left-hander. He’ll take a 3.56 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and a 43/14 K/BB ratio across 43 innings into a start against the Twins in Minnesota on Tuesday. • Takes seat Wednesday
Lowe is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: The White Sox are bringing a right-hander (Chris Flexen) to the mound, but he's been far more effective against lefties (.314 wOBA) than righties (.372 wOBA) for his career, which likely explains why the lefty-hitting Lowe is on the bench. After being activated from the 10-day injured list Monday, Lowe has gone 3-for-9 with a double through his first two games of the season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:21 pm
