    • Returning Friday
Manager Aaron Boone said Thursday that Burdi (hip) will return from the injured list Friday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Advice: Burdi has been on the IL since April 19 due to right hip inflammation. He pitched in a rehab game at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday, striking out all three batters he faced in his lone inning of work. The 31-year-old reliever has yet to allow a run through 6.1 frames this season, and he will likely pitch in middle relief upon returning to the Yankees' bullpen. Rotowire.com 11 minutes ago

    • Braves acquire Zack Short from Red Sox
Braves acquired INF Zack Short from the Red Sox in exchange for cash considerations.

Advice: Short was recently designated for assignment, but he’ll now head to Atlanta in a trade. The 28-year-old has appeared in 12 games this season, 10 with the Mets and two with the Red Sox, and has just one hit in his 19 plate appearances. Rotoworld 41 minutes ago

    • Shifts to Triple-A's 60-day IL
Triple-A Worcester transferred Walter (shoulder) from its 7-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday.

Advice: Walter possesses a spot on the Red Sox's 40-man roster, but he's currently residing on the Triple-A club's IL since he was optioned to the affiliate in early March. He strained his left shoulder toward the end of camp and has yet to pitch for Worcester. His season debut now doesn't appear as though it'll come until at least June as a result of his move to the 60-day IL. Rotowire.com 59 minutes ago
    • Sitting in second straight
Trevino is not in the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Astros.

Advice: The Yankees will go with Austin Wells at catcher for the second day in a row after Trevino had caught the previous three contests. The two have shared catching duties pretty close to down the middle this season, with Wells earning 21 starts to Trevino's 18. Rotowire.com Today, 10:13 am

    • Collects second win
Suarez (2-0) allowed two runs (one earned) on a hit and a walk while striking out one over two innings to earn the extra-innings win versus the Nationals on Wednesday.

Advice: This was Suarez's second outing since he was removed from the rotation following the returns of John Means and Kyle Bradish. Suarez gave up both runs in the 11th inning during Wednesday's game, squandering a two-run lead, but he ended up with the win when the Orioles took the lead for good in the 12th. The right-hander has been a pleasant surprise with a 2.29 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 17:4 K:BB over 19.2 innings this season across five appearances (three starts). Suarez is one of the multi-inning options in the bullpen for the Orioles, but he can also be an option for spot starts if necessary. Rotowire.com Today, 10:11 am
    • Hits game-tying homer
Fry went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored in Wednesday's 5-4 extra-inning win over the Tigers.

Advice: Fry went yard in the ninth inning off Andrew Chafin to tie the game at 4-4. This was Fry's second homer of the season. The versatile 28-year-old is batting .364 (8-for-22) over his last eight games. His ability to catch, play in the corner outfield and fill in at first base gives him multiple paths to playing time, and that versatility figures to be even more important as the Guardians weigh their options for left field with Steven Kwan (hamstring) out for likely four weeks. Fry is slashing .316/.438/.491 with two homers, one stolen base, 10 RBI, 11 runs scored and four doubles over 73 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 10:07 am

    • Headed to Atlanta
Atlanta acquired Short from the Red Sox on Thursday in exchange for cash considerations.

Advice: He will slide right into the role fellow utility infielder Luis Guillorme vacated after being traded to the Angels earlier Thursday. Short, who will turn 29 later this month, is a career .169/.262/.299 hitter over parts of four major-league seasons and has managed just one base hit in 2024 between his time with the Mets and Red Sox. • Delivers winning hit
Rocchio went 2-for-4 with one RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Wednesday's 5-4 extra-inning win over the Tigers.

Advice: Rocchio's first RBI since April 23 came on a walk-off hit. The Tigers brought an outfielder in to crowd the infield, but Rocchio found a gap to center field to complete the Guardians' comeback. The shortstop is batting .286 (6-for-21) in May, and he's up to a .223/.319/.301 slash line on the year. He's added six stolen bases, five RBI, 16 runs scored and eight doubles through 33 contests, but he's still looking for his first big-league home run. Rotowire.com Today, 10:03 am
    • Undergoes elbow surgery
Duarte underwent UCL revision surgery on his right elbow Tuesday, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Advice: It was known that Duarte was going to have an operation on his elbow, but the specific type of procedure hadn't been revealed until now. A normal timeline for return for this type of surgery is 14-to-16 months, so Duarte probably won't make it back until the second half of next season, in all likelihood. Rotowire.com Today, 9:33 am
